Dugout Discussion

Saturday Dugout Discussion

Gameweek 35 kicks off with a game between third-placed Arsenal and sixth-placed Chelsea. Champions League qualification (and all the money it brings) is at stake, and the Dugout Discussion opens to see how it plays out. The line-ups from the early game have been released, and are as follows…

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Ramsey, Song, Walcott, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, van Persie.

Chelsea XI: Cech, Bosingwa, Cahill, Terry, Bertrand, Essien, Romeu, Malouda, Sturridge, Torres, Kalou.

From the defeat at the hands of struggling Wigan there are four casualties, with Johan Djourou, Andre Santos, Mikel Areta and Yossi Benayoun all out of the eleven. In comes Laurent Koscielny, Kieran Gibbs, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Juggling his priorities, Roberto Di Matteo makes eight (8) changes ahead of the second leg Champions League semi-final against Barcelona. Petr Cech, John Terry and Gary Cahill are the only survivors from the first leg.

After the game at the Emirates we’ve got five 3pm fixtures to enjoy, before the day’s football concludes at Loftus Road for the game between QPR and Tottenham.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom will be open for the entirety of today’s action, and can be accessed right here.

Just seen the highlights again of the ARS vs MCY match a few weeks ago.

Arsenal home fans doing the posnan and singing “He plays when he wants. He plays when he wants. Carlos Tevez, he plays when he wants” – didn’t know they had it in them. Hilarious.

Probably not the best time for this but I don't think I've ever done an RMT before so any comments are welcome. This is my first WC draft...

    Friedel, De Vries
    Vermaelen, Hibbert, Cole, Terry, Huth
Ben Arfa, Bale, Pienaar, Moses, Sigurdsson
    Adebayor, Jelavic, RVP

    £3.4m in the bank

Lose 1 of Hibbert, Cole or Terry (will want to play 3 at the back for DGW). I Presume you'd bench Moses and have him for the final 2 GWs, good choice. And I would have Cisse over Jelavic.

Moses is the only player I've had since GW1 - it's partly for sentimental reasons now!

I've tried to sketch out who my starting eleven would be each week and it's bloody hard - keep wanting to play 4-4-3 or something but it seems perverse to downgrade players to make my selection easier!

id be tempted by Dempsey and Spurs def over Chelsea double up.

Other than that it's good. Maybe RVP, Barfa and Cole to Cisse, Demps and BAE?

Then get RVP back in 37 maybe? You might want some united players on the bench in 36 to play in 37 and 38 too

That would give me 4 Spurs though.

I'm concerned if Man U seal the title before then that Fergie will rotate big style - Owen, Berbatov, etc. getting some pitch time. Can't decide on that one.

Oh yeah, DW, didn't notice Friedel.

You won't know if united have the title until GW36 is over, and if city have closed to within 2 points it will be tense. If United win they're home and dry, and rotation alert, but I can't see city losing, maybe drawing which would keep a little pressure up.

Also, Cole not playing today shows he's not safe from rotation. A safer Chelsea double up would be Cech and Terry with BAE from Spurs.

With Spurs' form I'm not sure about trebling up either, or Everton treble.

Newcastle's fixtures are dodgy after the DGW, so only one of HBA and Cisse I reckon.

You've got a week of tinkering to go 😉
