Enter your nominations for World Cup of FPL assets

As the football hiatus winds on and the United Kingdom goes into an official state of lockdown, we need your help to review the best Fantasy Premier League assets of all time.

Many of us have plenty of time on our hands to contemplate the days of yore, as well as recent successes.

So we would like your help in deciding which Fantasy asset from the last two decades deserves the title of the greatest ever.

This will be decided using the same 32-entry format as the World Cup and Champions League featuring eight groups of four in the first round, each of which decided by a Fantasy Football Scout poll.

When the group winners and runners-up are revealed, we will run a knockout stage, each match decided by further Fantasy Football Scout polls.

But before we get to that stage, we need your help to populate the competition – as whittling down hundreds of Fantasy assets to just 32 is going to be a difficult task.

Therefore, we would like you to submit your nominations in the Google Form below. This will be used as the qualification round of the tournament. Once that has been completed we will include the most popular assets in the finals.

          Ha.
Yes mate. Locked down since Sunday for good πŸ™‚
My father needs to go out as we have a small business related to Milk distribution. So I'm worried. It's termed as an essential service i guess.

Doing work from home so nothing changes for me except for working hours have increased by 1 hour πŸ˜€

Hopefully you're doing well too mate. Is the lockdown enforced strictly there ?

It's been confusing to read what's going on in India, it seems that you have very few cases, but that's because you aren't really testing many people. Obviously something is going on or you wouldn't be in lockdown.
Hope you and the family are all okay my friend.

Well it's supposed to be enforced now, but we have two problems, 1. Lot of grey areas around what the government class as an essential job, for example, most construction companies are remaining open. Government advise is only to travel to and from work if it's essential, and can't be done from home. Also lots of greedy bosses out there, Sports Direct (the guy who owns Newcastle) tried to claim his business was essential because they're supplying sporting goods so people can continue to exercise...the government have shut that down now though.
            2. Lots of idiots out there, who says things such as 'if we stay home, the virus wins'.

Going to be a difficult couple of months ahead.
            Look after yourself.

              It's confusing yes.
I also don't know everything as Government records have numbers which we don't know how truthful that is. Hopefully they are right & we've taken a precautionary measure on Corona at the right time. Fingers crossed !

Re people who act like it's nothing, those idiots are a threat to themselves, their families & whole society. I hope governments around the world should start putting criminal cases on those idiots. At least then they'll understand the situation

Supposedly people are being fined for breaking the conditions of the lockdown, but we'll see how that goes.

The problem people have is that if your boss says you still need to come to work, do you do what your boss tells you, or what the government tell you?

Also lots of self employed people who are currently getting no government assistance.

As you say, hopefully we're doing the right things now, and will get this under control quickly.

        Raul Jimenez
        Cristiano Ronaldo
        Demba Ba

        Branislav Ivanovic
        Marcus Alonso

Need to be reasonable there Virg. It's a tricky time with not a lot going on in the footballing world but a lot to deal with outside of it, so of course everything will slow down.

You already know the season ticker is being worked on, but I can't give any further updates on that, I'm not involved.

The last sentence is utterly unreasonable - I hope your goal isn't to instigate an argument, you're making big assumptions about something you don't know anything about. Enjoy some time away, look after yourself and hopefully we can return to our regularly scheduled programming soon.

Ok, cool. 3rd attempt to reply to Brosstan πŸ˜€
I've just been looking at the Guardian comment section - 'anti-fascist' peaceful left leaning people - all saying the government isn't doing enough because people went to a park to sunbathe. I've been all over this since March 1st, and it's *not just the flu*, but everyone is acting like the virus is just floating around in the atmosphere or something. Personal freedom is important, as is lessening the social/economic impact.

    1. DOG GOD IT - KEANE 15
      • 10 Years
      4 years, 3 days ago

Even if it is not floating around in the atmosphere, those who are infected and either don't know it yet or will never know it (in mild cases) and still go out are liable to spread the virus (a sneeze, a cough); those droplets fall somewhere (a counter top, a door, a table); somebody else touches said surface and then touch some part of their face and the virus is inhaled into their bodies.

And then this process goes on and on, multiplied exponentially e.g 1 infected person might infect 10, those 10 might infect another 10 each. You get the picture.

Of course personal freedom and lessening the social/economic impact is important (especially money, people will still need to eat etc), but IMHO at a time like this all that can be thrown out the window first. If you have a population of 30 million and 60% of the population gets infected, that's 18 million. And if 1% of that are the serious cases, that's 1.8 million. And if just 1% of those need respirators to survive, that's 18,000 people. Can your healthcare system accommodate that?

Anyway, that's my opinion, you are of course welcome to yours.

Getting real is not chastising people for going outside or in parks - seems you've both got the complete wrong end of my comment. It's funny how 3 weeks ago most people thought some people/the media were overreacting (even though Italy numbers showed otherwise) and now those same people think you shouldn't be allowed outside, that's all I was saying. People seem to need to take everything to extremes.

The thinking is that by going out anywhere, whether that be to a park or otherwise, you're potentially putting yourself, or other people at risk.
You can't guarantee you won't come into contact with other people whilst you're out, and going sun bathing is hardly essential.
Maybe your park has a gate, or steps with a hand rail, maybe you need to park and use a pay machine, how many other people have touched those things during the day?

Why risk it? People are going to run out of bed and respirators and NHS staff are going to have to decide who gets to live....but at least you'll have a nice tan I suppose.

            1. SADIO SANÉ
              • 8 Years

Why risk it? At a time when mental health is all the rage I think your trivial conclusion about the benefits of being outside and also sunbathing (sun exposure in general) is limited (I'd also personally find it hard to get a tan this early in the year πŸ˜€ ) You can do a lot of those things without spreading germs, but I guess it's best to just stay inside for a couple of months. Also look up viral load - being inside all day with 4+ people (including kids) that all already have it is probably worse than practising social distancing outside.

I didn't really want to get too personal, but as someone who suffers from SAD I promise you I am well aware of the benefits of sun exposure.
However, I am willing to do what needs to be done, staying inside to help prevent the threat of spreading this virus, simply because as difficult as it is for me, I'm not going to kill myself out of depression, whereas if we all just disobey the guidance to stay inside, no doubt, NO DOUBT, people will die as a result of my selfishness.

I'm not looking to argue with you, and I'm not saying you're selfish or anything like that, but the risks of spreading this virus are very real, and I'd encourage you to listen to the governments advice.

I don't want to argue with you either, so I'll stop now - to the delight of many I'm sure πŸ˜€ . I'm glad there are now lots of people taking it much more seriously - as they were definitely not 3 weeks ago. I've been socially distancing myself as much as possible for all that time, but there has to be a line - and removing people from parks is crossing it for me. That's all I was saying.

        Isn't 1% of 18 million - 180,000 as opposed to 1.8 million?

    From an FPL view point, my thoughts are;

Mahrez and Vardy (but especially Mahrez) the season Leicester won the league.
    Suarez at Liverpool
RvP when Utd won the league in 2013?
Sanchez at Arsenal (especially for his TC haul - might have been the first season TC chip was introduced)
Michu - Best OOP player ever? - Not counting Lundstram as this season will obviously be null and void πŸ˜‰

Yeah loved Michu. 6.5m midfielder, 18 goals. Absolutely filthy FPL asset, has to be right up there as one of the all time greatest FPL picks. One of the few I actually got on relatively early, unlike the Leicester lads!

        Absolutely.
You know who also deserves a shout, if we're trying to make a team that's actually affordable. Adnan Januzaj as 5th mid. Had that one season when Moyes first took over at Utd when he was the only player who could score for them.

On the Leicester players, I didn't actually bring in Mahrez until the last game of that season. Purely out of spite. I remember everyone getting him in really early that season, and I posted on here something along the lines of...you're all crazy if you think some random Leicester midfielder that no one had ever heard of is going to outscore the likes of Hazard and Sanchez over the course of the season.

I though the had as well, but looking back at his history it's actually a little underwhelming to be honest!

Does anyone remember how much Rangel was in that 12/13 season? He scored really well, 3 goals 8 Clean sheets and a host of bonus points.

Lambert another from that season who did well from a reasonable price, 15 goals and 8 assists.

That Swansea team was a such a rich source of FPL talent

Siggy was in God Mode, Rangel, Michu, there were a few others - with Brendan Rodgers steering the ship and they were all cheap as chips

Remember that being quite a kind season on the budget!

The other one was 14/15 - 5m Harry Kane scoring 21 goals and another 18 goals from 6m Charlie Austin! Think it was the breakthrough year for a certain Tom Heaton as well iirc.

If it's an 11 they need I'm thinking

    Alisson
TTA, Baines, Bale (I think he was calcified as defender in his breakthrough season)
    Ronaldo, Salah, KDB, Gerrard, Lampard
    Suarez, Henry

I remember when Bale was hardened by deposition of or conversion into calcium carbonate or some other insoluble calcium compounds. Interesting times

Haven’t had a look at my FPL team in a long time now. What would you suggest doing? Have 2 FTs, and 0.0 in the bank.

    Henderson
    TAA - Doherty - Stephens
    Traoré - KDB - Fernandes - Salah
    Jiménez - Ings - Aubameyang
    (McCarthy - Stevens - Fernándes - Hayden)

Traore and Ings to DCL and Sarr or Barnes

Given that Traoré saw limited game time before the postponements, he's definitely one I'm looking at transferring out.

Recon Ings might not be the best option anymore?

Goals had dried up, and his underlying stats weren't good before the season was suspended.

Ings to Jota/DCL and Traore to Sarr. Probably try getting money by downgrading a cheap gk to 3.9

You recon Ings isn't the best option anymore? Traoré have to go, that's for sure.

I could downgrade a GK to a 3.9 option, but I haven't played the BB yet, which makes me want to have two playing GKs.

Best 2 defenders upto 5.5mn who are not TAA, Robbo, Doherty.

    1) Taylor(Bur)
    2) Maguire or Shaw/Bissaka better?

For me, it's those players who provide the most value that makes them stand out more than the expensive heavy hitters. Harry Kane when he was only 5m and Charlie Adam when he was at Blackpool are the standouts for me.
