If it wasn’t for the frost in Blackpool, we’d all be sitting down right now to take in the Saturday evening treat that would’ve seen Ian Holloway go head to head with Sir Alex Ferguson. Instead, the Seasiders’ showdown with Man United can be anticipated as our first double gameweek, which allows to Arsenal sit proudly atop the Premier League till next weekend.

Arsene Wenger can give thanks to a fellow-Frenchman this evening, as Samir Nasri -with a quite sensational double enough to see off a resilient Fulham at the Emirates- continues to produce the form of his life for the Gunners. Nasri has scored four goals in his last three games, which takes his league total to eight already, and as a result of being awarded the three Bonus Points today, is the fourth highest-scoring midfielder in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

This form has not gone unnoticed, and the 150,00 Fantasy Managers who transferred Nasri in last week will feel their decision was more than vindicated with a performance that has returned 30 points for those who took the decision to hand him the captain’s armband. Such displays have considerably lessened the blow of losing Cesc Fabregas to yet another hamstring problem for Wenger and certainly benefits the Fantasy budget big-time, with Nasri priced at £7.9m compared to Fabregas‘ £11.8m.

Nasri is due a price rise tonight, though, but is still clearly outstanding value for money at present. Even upon the return of Fabregas, there is an argument to suggest he is performing well enough to perhaps even be considered as a better acquisition than Cesc, given his price, points returns and relative fitness.

The Gunners have a tough time over the next few gameweeks which will test their title credentials to the full: (mun, STK, CHE, wig, bir, MCY) but in a season where they can lose at home to Newcastle and West Brom and still hit the top come December, Arsenal are showing the ability to dig in and fight.

Credit must also be given to Jermaine Beckford, whose goal prevented Chelsea returning to first place. Having been slaughtered in some quarters for his woeful finishing against West Brom last week, the ex-Leeds man came up with the late equaliser that sees the champions in third place instead.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Maybe Rooney or Tevez but I think he is just warming up? How did he play today?

He could wipe out a struggling Spurs defence next week?

    Bale, Nani, Nasri, Malouda
    Elmander (C) Drogba Caroll

So how many runs would it be sensible to declare on?

Or is it less a runs dictated thing and a bit more involved than that? For example will they just get to a point when there are say 2 hours left in the day and then try and get a couple of wickets of Australia before the day is up?

Yeah they'll probably declare so as to leave the Aussies a tricky little 40 minutes or so session at the end of the day..

If rain wasn't forecasted, then I wouldn't even think about declaring. Rather just try to bat all day to completely demoralise the Aussies.

        pretty much this.

BEcause there is fears or rain over the last 2 days I think we will declare not long after tea. If we are still batting then, it should be around a 300 lead, specially if KP is still in bat.

Probably let KP and the tail blast us up to a 300 (ish) lead and then declare.

      Declaration is usually runs based.

my thoughts too, the timing of the sub seems a little odd but as they were 2-0 up at the time, and wolves had just made a few changes it does make sense

According to the reports i've read it was to give us more of a threat on the break which makes sense with Mame Diouf's pace and the Wolves subs.

We also switched to a more defensive formation as well going from 4-4-1-1 (with Dunn in behind Roberts) to a 4-5-1 with M Diouf playing from the right wing and Emerton tucking in to form a central 3 with Pedersen and Jones.

Yep defintely. Allardyce knows that his effect on the team is negligible if he's not in the final third. Only problem is that he looks like he may be the man sacrificed when we play more defensively as he really isn't up to playing centre midfield these days

Yup Balo makes a lot of sense for next week. Mancini is surely going to play him in the tevez role instead of adebarndoor with Milner/Johnson filling in on the left.

I don't think thats on, should be finned and dropped for a game to sho who's bosseven though they need him!)

And anyway, he's always complaing he amout of football he plays and how tiring it its and complaining that he isn't enjoying football anymore so why act like that after being givin a rest?

He's an outright idiot, and that's about it for me.

There are not many players in the Premiership I genuinely dislike but Tevez is one of them. EVERY TIME he talks to the media or does anything else than play football he comes across like a total tool.

Mancini has made some weird decisions this season but when speaking he comes across like a fairly sensible man to me.

I don't have any real problems with Balotelli either but Tevez just pisses me off. He takes up so much of my anger that I can't even be bothered to tell the world how overrated I think his team mate David Silva is anymore.

Oh, about earlier and the word 'village'. The way I, and countless other public schoolboy cricketers, use it is to mock opposition players. So if they do something shit, you call it 'village', as in it's the sort of thing you'd see in village cricket.

Akers described Strauss' dismissal yesterday as 'village', the one where he left a straight one, and I loved it.

It's nothing to do with a village idiot.

Meh: Noun. Generally a grunt emmitted by someone unimpressed who is unimpressed with someone/thing. In a footballing sense is usually used to refer to Gareth Barry.

Drogba may be gone this week for me.
It's sad, but he has tough fixtures and admitted he can still feel the effects of malaria. Torres looks like the best replacement but for sure going to wait till later in the week
Maybe he'll come back with the January WC?

Probably going to keep Malouda for some Chelsea cover. Do you all think his spot is relatively safe? (consider Lamps return)

Malouda is expensive for the form he's in. Lampard will be back any week soon and that means he won't be taking the likes of the penalty he took today.

I'm going to keep a close eye on Torres Monday night and make the switch if I like what I see. Newcastle - Liverpool games are goal fests going back to Keegan and Daglish managerial days!

He's not at all.. The vast majority of the things he says I actually agree with.

Although the whole Russia debate was Dbronaldo at his very worst! No one could have agreed with him then.

                    2. Russia wasnt that bad a choice as ye guys have something like 8 major tournos in next 10 years.

lol. I remember constantly hating his posts, all he would do is moan after every game that things didn't go his way. Funniest thing was that RBJ actually stuck up for him and told me i was giving DB a hard time. Oh how things change...

A lot of people got pissed off with DB when he said England were complete toss and were going to flop at the world cup (NOT a direct quote).

And then they got even more pissed off with him when he turned out to be right.

I thought the whole thing was brilliant (apart from when England were actually toss during the World Cup. I wasn't laughing when we went down 4-1 to the Germans).

Glad I played Elmo this week, the only alternative was Knight who got 1 point. Elmo will more than likely play some part, even if it is from the bench meaning he should match Knight's score and if he does start it's a huge bonus. Also, something to look forward to tomorrow.

Just wondering, why does everyone prefer Samba to Nelsen on this site? Last season, they both got the same amount of goals but Nelsen two more assist and he played 300 less minutes of Football. This season they have played around the same amount of minutes and yet again have the same amount of goals but Nelsen has two more assists?

He has actually benefited from the attention Samba gets from the opposition defenders.

Sure today Nelsen had a great score but Samba played better and got the 2 BPs. I'm confident he'll outscore Nelsen this season

Maybe, no one stood out but i can honestly say that Jones, Samba and Robinson were the three best players. Pedersen was perhaps a little unlucky to be left out. I suppose Nelsen too when you look at his stats but he really had little to do defensively.

It's possible but the noblots are a fair bit more attacking than in recent seasons so i'd say unlikely. 1-2 or 2-2 maybe?

Ha! Partridge was having a go at me earlier for not having any Chelsea players.... Little did he know...

Me thinks that with Tevez and Kolarov suspended next week, some similar tricks maybe in order!

Well, I wouldn't say clever, but, you know, deceiving.

This is so good to watch. Australia are so bad right now, just can't see how they can get anyone out unless they give their wickets away. Which KP may well do at some point!

I know it's a massive cliche, but now Australia really do know how we felt during the dark years........
