Two televised games today finally gives us some live Premier League action to enjoy this weekend. Ok it’s West Brom versus Newcastle United and Sunderland versus West Ham, but it’s better than nothing I suppose…

Team news from the Hawthorns has come through and Newcastle name an unchanged team, That means there’s no Joey Barton or Kevin Nolan, and that Andy Carroll partners Shola Ameobi upfront.

For the home side, Chris Brunt and Peter Odenwingie return to the starting eleven as expected.

West Brom XI: Carson, Jara, Scharner, Tamas, Cech, Tchoyi, Morrison, Dorrans, Thomas, Brunt, Odemwingie

Newcastle XI: Krul, Simpson, Steven Taylor, Campbell, Jose Enrique, Routledge, Guthrie, Tiote, Gutierrez, Carroll, Ameobi

    'Directly' is the key word.

    Actually well played to WBA. I can't be too down about it, they deserved the win.
    And not to make excuses (well actually to make excuses) our injury list reads: 1st choice keeper, 2 first choice centrebacks, our tricky trickster and our engine. (Harper, Coloccini, Williamson, Ben Arfa and Barton) - any team in the league would be poor if you took that many important players off them.
    And for all you Guthrie haterz, he isnt a shite player - he isnt great but he isnt shite. Everyone can have a poor game for example he was better today than Fabregas was against us.

        Attila - agree on Guthrie. I've always thought that he's a decent little player, but today he was terrible, no denying that.

      Thats the way it goes DB. The way its gone for me this season is when i have taken hits, it hasn't paid off, and when i think about it but bottle it, Walcott goes and scores a hat-trick. Frustrating.

        Hes up against 3 good defences in a row. Well suited to his aerial threat. He may score but he hasnt been getting into double figures, he not getting the service at the moment. Elmander or Davies could easily get 12+ points in one of their next 3 games with the chances Bolton create.

          I'm still not sold on Elmander as a long-term option though....

          I can definitely see him scoring against liverpool. Birmingham and Citeh probably not- but you never know....

              The way I see it, if he can score against the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal (though your defence is rather gash atm, no offence) then he can probably do enough to justify his place in my team against the likes of Birmingham and citeh......

      This is a season in which faith is sorely tested. My faith in Odemwingie was repaid well today as has my faith in Carroll over many week. It is currently under some strain with Drogba and Cole.

      Too many fails though with Bale being most prominent. I finally switched to VDV - weeks after many people did - only for him to grab a sack load of points immediately.

      Don't get me started on Fabregas and Nani. Since my early wildcard, they've made up nearly half of all my transfers:(

        Fabregas has caused me so much hassle this season. First time I bring him in he gets injured, then carefully plan to make sure I can bring him in when he came back for that really nice run of games. Gave him the armband twice, nothing, and then gets injured again. I was seriously considering Nasri this week, but decided it wasn't worth it because once Fabregas is back next week (?) he'll be the man to have. I've made so many mistakes with just one player!
