International Football

Which FPL players are on international duty ahead of Gameweek 1?

Fantasy managers are faced with the unusual situation of an international break taking place immediately before the start of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

A week of international fixtures got underway in midweek, with many key top-flight players in action for their nations and missing out on pre-season preparations with their clubs as a consequence.

The positive news is that only those representing European countries will be away from their clubs, as UEFA tries to play catch-up with the Nations League.

The likes of Mohamed Salah (£12.0m), Sadio Mane (£12.0m), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£12.0m), Son Heung-min (£9.0m) and Raul Jimenez (£8.5m) will be staying put, then, while those European players who are on international duty at least won’t have to endure an arduous trek back from further afield given that all Nations League matches will take place on the continent.

This article gives a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their sides during this period, also detailing the dates in which these players will be competing for their respective countries.

I have Martinez in my team. He has done nothing wrong to be dropped and is better than Leno in some aspects. Obviously will see if Arteta says anything in the next week.

What are people's plans for getting in City/United assets after GW1?

My initial thought is with my current squad, i have 0.5m ITB and Ings up top, Ings > Martial after GW1 but then i'm a bit stuck for City assets after that.

For anybody who has been using our list of free to enter FPL prize leagues we've added another 20 leagues to the list worth about £10,000 in total. Just have to search NEW to find them.

    Number of Leagues = 132
Total value of prizes = £45,095
    £5,000+ Leagues = 2
    £1,000+ Leagues = 12

    Any questions let me know.

I agree and I'm going to have 1 is Saka or Saliba in my team but making sure the other slot is nailed. Probably Saka as I think he's got the higher potential to score big. There's also loads of 4.5 Defs to choose from.

The rules clearly state if you can field 13 players, the match must go ahead. Would be funny if Scotland do another ghost Estonia.

      Hi Guys!
I think I'm quite close to being satisfied with my team entering this season, please give any inputs:

      McCarthy
      Trent/Vinagre/Lascelles
      Salah/Auba/Alli/ASM/Armstrong
      Jimenez/Ings

      Steer/Taylor/Davis/Mitchell
      2.0 itb

      GW2 - Armstrong > Greenwood

I really fancy Zaha to have a decent season. But just can't bring myself to invest in Palace with their current injuries at the back and their dire post lockdown form! One to keep an eye on though

Thoughts on this 5-4-1 for GW1

      Ramsdale
      Trent Doherty Davies Walker-Peter Tierney
      Salah Aubameyang Ward-Prowse Soucek
      Werner

      Nyland/Steer Bissouma Martial Davis

So I could triple up on Southampton and go with Ings as a placeholder or save a transfer and start with martial on the bench.

      Any thoughts?

      McCarthy
      TAA Dier Justin

      Werner Ings

      Button Vinagre Mitchell Brewster

      Rough plan for 2/3

My plan is to downgrade either Auba or Salah to Bruno, potentially for GW2 because I've a feeling he'll go up in value pretty quick.

I just think Bruno is the core of the United team, and on pens. Too good not to own.

I'm leaning towards downgrading Auba at the moment because I like Salah's fixtures better in the short term.

But consious that Salah shares bonus with Mane/Trent/Auba/VVD, whereas Auba is the star of the Arsenal team and they don't have European commitments this season

It could be either but Dier seems firm favourite of Mourinho. Spurs improved in defence and think Dier will get more bonus. Also on some free kicks and can score from set pieces. Also way Spurs been playing Davies playing further back and also tends to pick up a fair number of yellows.

Might yet get Doherty if can squeeze him in but for now happy with Dier

I am gonna switch out Ings for Martial after GW1 but a lot of people are overlooking Hojgberg going to Spurs. They don't have another creative type player in that CDM/CM role of the same quality and that will have an impact.

Wolves team is much better than Saints going forward, more of the goal contribution should be split with Adams this year and Hojbjerg going to Spurs has weakened Saints midfield. Having said that, I'm having Ings GW1 for Palace and then swapping for Martial.

Scaff, Neves and Moutinho are proven quality in midfield, and Jota and Traore are up there with the most dangerous attackers in the league on the wings. Saints have lost Hojbjerg, who was a real creative force in midfield and only Redmond or JWP could compete to some level with Wolves's side.

Planning to play 5 atb but thinking about benching Digne for the first week and playing Armstrong. 0.5 to do Ings to Martial GW2 all going well.
Think I'm set on this...not everybody's cup of tea admittedly!

      Ramsdale
      Trent Robbo Doherty Tierney
      Auba Alli Pereira Armstrong
      Werner Ings

      0.5

fair point but I'm set on going without a LIV attacker (as I'd rarely captain them)...Auba will become KdB/Sterling in GW3 most likely and Alli could become Rashford (with a future double transfer) if MUN start firing for the double up with Martial.

Tasty defence. Digne is a great shout, especially now they've added some steel to the midfield. But I'm wary jumping on Everton from GW1. Just like Chelsea, I think the smart play is to see how they do first couple of gameweeks.

      Thoughts on this, please
      Ryan/Nyland
      TAA, JWP, Vinagre, Mitchell (Taylor)
      Auba, Salah, Soucek, (Bruno), Gordon
      Kane, Adams, Mitro

With all the current uncertainties I've tried to select players that should get me slightly above average in GW1, but have some added firepower coming in GW2 (Bruno + Taylor) without hits, and I've included price points that allow me to move - for example - Kane to anyone (Aguero, Werner, Martial etc.), Auba or Salah to KDB/Sterling etc.

      1. Nightrain_
        • 7 Years

Not a fan of benching 10.5 and Bruno can be quarantined or injured comes GW2. Taking hit is more sensible cause when you start with Son, for instance, lad can produce double digits to cover the hit, and if he blanked, -2 is a small price to pay

If you're really worry about that, you can swap Son to Bruno right exactly one minute after deadline 😀 but i'll suggest wait until GW2 deadline or fplstatistic showing 90%+ to price rise

I agree - but am currently quite uncertain about which sub-premiums will be nailed on - for example was keen on Pulisic and Greenwood, but VDB and Havertz might change things. My idea was go with tired and trusted premiums initially, and have enough to switch to the out-performing sub-premiums when they appear.

      Locks for me

      4.5, 4
      Taa, davies, 4.5-5.5, vinegar, 4
      kdb, Salah, 7.5-8.5, soucek, 4.5
      Werner, martial, mitro

... with Auba and Ings to start as placeholders for Kev and martial.

In the remaining positions there is 1m to splash, hence the ranges. The mid slot is a real nice spot with Greenwood Alli and Pulisic (and potentially Ziyech, Mahrez or Willian) all strong options. I’m debating whether to start with greenwood or alli both have nice fixtures, as I need 0.5 spare to do the martial Ken switch in the order I want to do it in.

Vinegar is the funniest mispelling I've seen yet lol. Very disappointed that you didn't complete it by changing "Salah" to "Salt" but oh well. I would look a bit cheaper with the 7.5-8.5 or Davies to try and upgrade Soucek to ASM or another option (if you don't like that one then maybe Mitro to someone like Wood). Otherwise good team.
