International Football

Which FPL players are on international duty ahead of Gameweek 1?

Fantasy managers are faced with the unusual situation of an international break taking place immediately before the start of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

A week of international fixtures got underway in midweek, with many key top-flight players in action for their nations and missing out on pre-season preparations with their clubs as a consequence.

The positive news is that only those representing European countries will be away from their clubs, as UEFA tries to play catch-up with the Nations League.

The likes of Mohamed Salah (£12.0m), Sadio Mane (£12.0m), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£12.0m), Son Heung-min (£9.0m) and Raul Jimenez (£8.5m) will be staying put, then, while those European players who are on international duty at least won’t have to endure an arduous trek back from further afield given that all Nations League matches will take place on the continent.

This article gives a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their sides during this period, also detailing the dates in which these players will be competing for their respective countries.

Under £9m if give him a go... Exciting player, bit like Salah on his first year... Could be a dud or could be £3m underpriced.

How's this looking? Pretty template by the looks of it..

    McCarthy

    Vinagre - Doherty - TAA

    Salah - Auba - Alli - ASM - Soucel

    Werner - Ings

Subs: Steer, Justin, Brewster & Justin.

If you move Doherty to a 5.0 like Dier/Davies/Egan/Bellerin you could make Soucek become Mitrovic

Yeah i could move to Dier, but then I just don't like Mitrovic, hate the guy to the point I'd rather not have him in my squad haha.

        Alli > Greenwood
Auba > KDB probably, higher prices means it's a bit easier to move on to City/Utd assets.

    Ryan (Button)

If Mount starts he could be a great shout. Just seems to be far too much competition for places in that Chelsea midfield right now.

Also not convinced on Vardy due to lack of supply.

Pretty simple plan right now Alli or Willian to Greenwood for GW2
Auba to Sterling or KDB GW3

    McCarthy

    TAA VVD Vinagre Justin

    Salah Auba Alli Willian Armstrong

    Werner

    Nyland KWP Davis Wickham

I'm not sure about that. 2 x 4.5 forwards doesn't seem to be the template move. It's a very bold selection.

Safer play would be Jiménez or Ings cause I don’t think Werner will get 90 every game.

My big fear is only having Greenwood from utd. Ideally I think Rashford would have that spot but I can’t stretch the funds with this setup. Losing Salah for Rashford or Bruno is an option but I don’t like it even with the fixtures.

Looks very much like my team when I had Vardy. It's definitely a possible if as I suspect you are planning Vardy to Martial. Willian is not nailed at all and going without Auba is a bold risk. Wondering if people are looking the wrong way at Palace and their 4.0 defenders. There's some interesting oop action to be had. Signs from preseason are that the formation will be more attacking this time and Palace in 2018/19 were one of the highest scoring non top 6 teams. True dat - they equalled Leicester 😀

5.5 possible oop mid with 7 goals in last 28 starts - confirmed manager favourite

7.0 probable oop mid with record of least 16 attacking returns when oop.

I think Ayew up top might turn out to be the best value forward in the game. 4 goals and 6 assists from Zaha for the whole of last year is far from exceptional but if they kick on this year might be worth a shout. Who is the 5.5 mid with 7 goals that you are talking about?

      1. pingissimus
        • 5 Years
        3 years, 7 months ago

Not clear that Ayew will necessarily be up top. There are some signs anyway that Zaha will be in a more advanced role this time - in which case he becomes very interesting

Another final preseason match today should be illuminating but there’s also the likelihood that a forward is brought in.

I'd rather get a quality 4.5m keeper with no backup, than to get a bad one with a backup.

IF your main keeper doesn't play, sure you could get an extra 2-7 pts where you would have got 0, and sure it saves a transfer to bring in a replacement (4pts), but those 6-11pts can be made up having a better keeper. And all this is only IF the backup is needed anyway, which isn't that likely.

Leeds are this year's promotion team that play open football. As a Norwich fan, think of us last year or Fulham the year before. If you think their defence will definitely be a good option then fair enough but go into it with your eyes open.

I think they like to play out from the back, but I wouldn't necessarily call them open. I expect (hope) they'll fare quite well, but of course you could be right and the step up could be too much. I'm willing to take that risk though 🙂

If anyone's looking at a promoted keeper for clean sheets, then they're probably risking disappointment ..... it's the save potential ..... and Leeds D does more to create rash shots than the other two promotees ..... we're always looking for that next 4.5 who will play beyond expectation.

When did I say 7 out of 8 lmao, I said 7 out of 10

But yeah you were right, 7/10 was slightly too far. 5-6 is my final prediction.

7/10 prediction shows how little you know. Furiously back-pedalling now like a clown.

Didn't you put Dier in your team? A clown and a hypocrite, lmao. Appreciate the laugh you've given me, I wouldn't expect better from a guy who thinks a number means skill

Lack of number means a lack of experience. FPL virgin.

United looked a lot better offensively than Spurs did last season. I think the United attacking players will easily out score the Spurs ones this season.

Yes, I'd agree on the part of attacking return from United, but then it would make more sense keeping players from Spurs as opposed to Werner

both for me, all premiums in the mid!

I have Salah, Auba and Son and will swap Son/Auba > Bruno/KDB GW2/3 so that is enough premium in mid for me. Have Werner as my other striker

Why do you think swaping Son to KDB/Bruno is easy if you need 2.5 and 1.5m to do that.

2.5? I have 1.5 to do Son to Bruno

A lot of people going for the 4.5/4.0 goalkeeper combination so let’s have a poll...

    Pick one from each:

    A - Ryan
    B - McCarthy
    C - Johnstone
    D - Martinez

    1 - Button
    2 - Nyland
    3 - Steer
    4 - Martin

If Button is given the starting job from week 1 - A1
If a new keeper is added to the Brighton roster before week 1 - A5 (assuming the new keeper is a 4.0)
If neither of the above are true - C1

    Kane or Son?
Son would mean mitro up front
    Kane would mean 4.5 mid

      Son
