I was seriously discouraged by the way Newcastle played vs Spurs. They created absolutely nothing. Wilson only has pens against good teams that dominate the game.

If that's all he offers, I'll take Maupay who has cry WBA tot in his next 3 instead.

Nice team, not a fan of having players who may lose their place such as Mitchell, so would look at Saiss & Mitchell to Lampety & Taylor (typically) and rotate KWP, Lampety & Taylor.

Maybe Maupay, Martinez & Martin to Watkins, Ryan & McCarthy and rotate keepers too?

DCL Maupay Wilson are sort of a set and forget really, and fixtures will not always be the best but as we have seen, Wilson is the talisman and will get the goal when you least expect. Of course you can always swap one if the fixtures align and you have a transfer to burn.

I would look at the midfield of Salah Son Sterling Rodriguez and something I could chop and change depending upon what other teams such as City, Utd Chelsea or players like Grealish, Barnes are facing each week

      maybe
      McCarthy Ryan
      Robbo Chilwell Lampety KWP Taylor
      Salah Son Sterling Rodriguez Bissouma
      DCL Wilson Watkins

      v

      Martinez Martin

    WC Team Draft #3
    Thoughts on this one?
I haven’t changed a thing for almost a week now!

    Martinez - 4.0
    Robertson - Chilwell - Saiss - KWP - Mitchell
    Salah - Son - J.Rodriguez - Zaha - Soucek
    Kane - DCL - Maupay

    1. Fit_to_drop

There are 2 types of WC's that are mainly to the fore now

      - Those with a Pool defender & 3 premium (9.0) attackers (usually Salah, Son, Kane)
      - Those without a Pool defender & 4 premiums (usually Salah, Son, Kane, KDB/STG)

Im on a WC at the moment too. When I go route B, it always looks unbalanced. Route A, seems to lead to a more balanced team overall.

I started on route A but currently on B. Clean sheets seem to be at a premium this season and with Adrian in goal I'm less interested in 'balance' (which is quite meaningless in FPL terms) and more interested in having maximum points potential in my team.

Can't see too much wrong with that, I'm sure you know the risks of no Liverpool defence but if you're happy to risk it then it looks good!

Son and Kane maybe an overkill. Bale will also 'steal' some attacking points. For them both to get attacking points each GW, u r assuming spurs will score multiple goals every time

      1. Goonsquad245
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 6 months ago

Bale won’t ‘steal’ attacking points any more than Lucas, Lamela, or Bergwijn ‘steal’ them now. He’ll score more incremental points but why would that take away from Son/Kane? Never understand when people say attackers from certain teams ‘share’ points.

        1. Urchin
          • 10 Years
          3 years, 6 months ago

A team will only score limited number of goals. Spurs can't keep on scoring 6 in each game. Putting all eggs in one basket and all that.....

          1. Goonsquad245
            • 8 Years
            3 years, 6 months ago

But....why do they need to score 6 every game? And what’s Bale got to do with that?

I understand diversifying for different reasons (fixture swings might mean you need to get rid of more than one premium player at a time for example) but because they ‘share points with one another’ is not a reason to do so.

Thoughts on this WC? 4 Premiums and Pool Defender.

    Martinez
    VVD • Ayling • Mitchell
    Salah • KDB • Son • James
    Kane • DCL • Brewster

You are gambling on Mitchell remaining a starter and PVA moving into midfield I take it? Or else your week to week defence will read VVD/Ayling and one of Balbuena/Stephens. It wouldnt fill me with confidence given it will have to take you upto Xmas pretty much (unless you waste transfers on it). So you've 4 Premiums, granted, but the rest of the team isnt hectic. That's the problem with the 4 premiums that I keep seeing. See my post above.

Very good. Tempted by Grealish over James? Mitchell will lose his place soon - can you move him on to someone who plays? Not sure about VVD - for that money is an attacking D from another team a better bet - Chilwell/Saiss maybe; he does get the occasional goal, but he's never had the attacking output of TAA or Robbo?

So I'm on a WC and trying to think how to bring back in Robbo and maybe get at least 1 City - but I kind of like this team so it might not be needed. Any ideas? I will use the Kane spot for Kane/Vardy/Aguero/etc depending on performance. Thanks!

It's only based on the idea that he might be late coming back from international break, so if he looks to play then Rodriguez in for Jorginho (whom I like more than a Soucek or a 4.5 because he is on pens). Thanks for the comment, makes me keep thinking and tinkering 🙂 and I've got .9 itb

    Wc squad

    Ryan, Button
    Chilwell, Semedo, Justin, Mitchell, Branthwaite
    Salah, Sterling, Son, James, Zaha
    DCL, Jimenez, Brewster

Ryan to Mendy after 2 weeks. Mitchell to Ferguson when he comes back. Justin to KWP if Pereira comes back. Zaha out for Grealish if he blanks vs Brighton.

    What do you think?

you're forward planning three transfers, which in my experience never tends to work since there is always another fire to put out. Are you better off having people who will be longer term?

    2. skodaole2
      • 11 Years
      3 years, 6 months ago

Team is ok apart from defence. Justin, Mitchell, Branth together in WC team, try to take advantage of the WC and make the defence more flexible.

However, the transfers you mention show that you dont like this team. If you want Mendy get him now, else stay with Ryan. Same for Mitchell - Ferguson. Justin should play a few more games, then its uncertain and LEI fixtures are worse. You may get now KWP and not have to waste a transfer later. Zaha - Grealish, you mention if he blanks he is gone, this is definitely not a good FPL strategy. If we dropped every player who blanked we d get 5-7 hits every week.

I d say clear the team and start from the beginning, i m sure you ll find a team that will allow you to at least save an FT next week. Good luck!

Is it a WC team? Bale, Coleman I d change, but nothing wrong with them. I d also play Justin and Mitchell ahead of Coleman and Bellerin this GW. Strikers are weak so it will take you at least two transfers to upgrade one of them, just keep that in mind.

If its not WC team, i d just make the defence changes. Good luck

It is a solid team, all top 6 representatives at the back which will make sense if this season reverts to the norm.

Not sure if the post was serious being that Arnie is in there but it’s the first draft I’ve seen with defenders from top sides in it which historically has been the way to go

Appreciate the plaudits mix. Respect brother.

Plan is to gain as much top sided players, that provide threat/creativity as well as set-piece duties!

Let's see how we do! Prays for Bale to stay fit!

    GKP: Martínez (McCarthy)
DEF: Mitchell, Saïss, Lamptey (Dallas) (Justin)
MID: De Bruyne, Salah, Son, Grealish (Rodríguez)
    FWD: Calvert-Lewin, Bamford, Wilson

Bamford is a bit expensive to bench every week unless you have a rotation plan going on. With that, you’ll have an even more expensive attacker on the bench every week

      I like it. It’s difficult.

Not the best fixtures for West Ham though. Ziyech probably won’t be fit to start just yet. I do like the strong defence, as long as you know the risks with Adrian in goal

I like the alternative choices you have there, but you can see that Kane, Salah, Antonio, Bowen, Rodriguez, Saiss, Jorginho are players who did great last week. I d try some players who havent scored much yet since you try to find alternatives, I m sure we ll have new punts this week.

Ziyech i think its a bit early and you spend too much money that you wont need. A mid can be 4.5 and one of the two GKs could be 4.0 or if you want to rotate get two 4.5 keepers at most.

Double LIV def if you keep long term could work just keep in mind they ll have CL games soon so a pretty heavy schedule and one of them could miss a random (easy) game that you expect many points.

Guardiola tells Man City he wants Erling Haaland to replace Aguero

According to Don Balon, Pep Guardiola at City is a huge fan of Haaland and has spoke with the club's board about signing the 20-year-old.

Guardiola would happily sign the player to replace Sergio Aguero, who may want to go back to Argentina at the end of the season.

Haaland's father, Alf-Inge, played for City during his playing days.

Just wondering why all the love for Chilwell?

        Pereira 5G 10a

Good fixtures for chelsea plus giant haul against palace. Recipe for everyone getting him in. Plus people think he'll be on setpieces. Guess everyone forgot about ziyech. I still don't want him. He won't get a lot of attacking returns and u can get zouma for cheaper with a higher setpiece threat if u really want chelsea defence

Because he just gave more points in 1 game than TAA has given in 4 games. After Chelsea conceding vs SOU or if he gets rotated due to the heavy schedule, we wont see that many WC teams with Chilwell included.

For me yes until CHE show that their defence has improved. Its only one game and to me its obvious that Lampard hasnt decided about a certain starting XI, he is still experimenting and with CL games he ll have to rotate the players. This experimenting results in a team that can play great vs CPL and can concede 3 vs WBA.

I have never been impressed with Chilwell's stats and I could say the same with Ricardo P at Leicester.

Pretty sure a goal and at least 1 assist game from that 9-0 Southampton victory.

I'm interested in him because Lamps adores him and stated that he told him team to get Chilwell more involved in the final third in his last match. After seeing what Alonso did at LB, I'm excited to see what Chilwell can do with a manager that is fond of him.

Out of curiosity, what do people with 4 players from the first game plan to do? (TAA, Salah, James R., DCL i guess the most popular combination)

    a) Play all of them, they are all more expensive than the benched players
    b) Play all of them and captain one of them, we know the first kickoff rule but EVE - LIV will have many goals this year
    c) Bench one or more of them to not have only 7 players from the rest of the games
    d) Trade out one or more of them, its a tough game that ended 0-0 the last years so do not want to have many players who will blank

    1. Villan
