Not at the moment I would have said. I did consider Young earlier this season but the team is just not doing well enough. There are better options out there than most of what Villa have to offer currently.

    My current masterplan is

    GW17:Chamakh>Torres
    GW18:Drog>Tevez

Reckon Torres could be a great captain this week... The toon in disarray & Liverpool actually showing a bit of form, surely he is due at least a brace + BPs

Always difficult to judge whether a team is REALLY in disarray. Wouldn't the players want to do it for Hughton for example? I'm not sure what the percentage of goals is that Torres scores away from Anfield (80%??) so two goals is a lot to ask.

I've got two Newcastle players (Simpson and Carroll) who will both be staying in my squad until there is evidence that Newcastle are in decline. Better to go with what you see rather than speculation in my opinion.

Very tricky captain decisions this week. Tevez would have got the armband, the bloody wally.

Milijas it is then. Due a goal that lad. He has about 50 shots a game.

is that tongue in cheek or serious? i worry that with wolves losing henry, edwards, jones, guedieora (sp?) and now possibly mancienne milijas will have more defensive responsibility. it would be nice to finally find out if he is on pens ahead of doyle. he's taken one this season with ebanks blake on the pitch, but never doyle. as he's taken 2 scored 2 i reckon it will be him

Especially as Doyle missed his last one? I am confident he would take them.

Of course I am not going to captain him though!

3 goals last night and Bale wasn't involved with one of them, I am sure all of the talk on here would have been dominated by "after last night, I am captaining Bale against Chelsea, he will tear them a new one", different story today where he didn't score or assist in a 3-3 draw.

I will admit that I would have been one of the people tempted by him also but I have held on to VDV and will hope he will be back for the game after Chelsea.

Nope, what a silly sideways move it would be. Hughton has potential to be a really good manager, he obviously has a good eye for a player (it was him that scouted Tiote from FC Twente's reserves). I reckon he'll end up at Ipswich and will do a damned good job of it.

Awful article in the guardian about Sheppard and Houghton. Unbelievable really. It's not a step sideways, Pardew was sacked by a championship team after losing the support of the players and staff. It's the most ridiculous decision (if true) i can remember in football.

Ha I saw the Sheppard article - one fat useless nobhead supporting another I suppose. Read about his sacking from Forest - he was sacked after they won 4-0 but apparently the owner had been wanting him out for ages because of bad morale with 'staff', not players curiously but staff. Seems odd. At any rate I'd certainly prefer Hughton to Pardew.

I warched it and think 'woeful' is going a bit too far, he was threatening when he had the ball, though the Valencia left back was as quick as Jabba the Hutt. Berbatov was poor though, in so much as he got in good positions then did bollox all.

Nani was poor last night, his crosses were never on the money, and while he beat players time and time again, his delivery always let him down. His corners and direct free kicks have also been poor of late, there is no doubting his skill at whipping in the indirect free kicks (where he is far more dangerous), but I think Rooney will be far more involved with direct free kicks now, and last night showed that.

That being said, Nani is still a different player this season and I am hoping for my FPL (C)aptaincy and United that he turns it on against Arsenal like he did last year!

    Afternoon all
Doubling up on Bolton's defence hasn't really worked too well thus far. Thinking of shipping out Knight, potentially for ScouseGreek or Konchesky but I would prefer Kolarov (the article on him has made me rethink).
This week so far I can field

    Jaask
    Knight, Jagielka, Samba
    N'Zogbia, Barton, Milner, Nasri, Nani
    Carroll, Drogba
    Subs: Simpson, Tamas, Tevez

Milner is a concern, surely he has a decent chance of starting though if Tevez is out? Or will Adebayor come in instead? I was thinking through the Tevez out Torres in then Drogba out Tevez in manoeuvre suggested by Jamsie P - it makes a lot of sense. I was all for it until I noticed I'd lose a decent whack of cash on Tevez and with the next wildcard around the corner every 0.1 counts.
Overall would I be a menk to leave it as it is and save the free transfer?

Don't want to sound too harsh, but I don't think the Drogba Tevez Torres shuffle is something you should be thinking about when your team is in that condition. You need to get rid of Milner and upgrade Simpson to a pool defender or Kolarov. I'd also consider dropping either Barton or Carroll, both of them are too much considering fixtures.

Harsh away Mad, harsh away. Milner IS going but I want to see his prospects for the weekend, no sense in transferring him out if he is going to play. I can do him as part of a double move next week, three Newcastle is a bit too much but it will possibly be Barton that goes. Carroll is a keeper and Simpson is still a useful cheapy to have as he is nailed on.

Something that will need an overhaul come the January wildcard. It's a funny season, it started out for the first 6 or 7 weeks to prove a cheapie nasty defence is the way to go but is now much more difficult to predict. I think the likes of Samba is a keeper, possibly with Dawson when he is back (soon I think) and Kolarov. That should flesh it out a bit.

        +1

The only reason I'm considering it it because I could get away with it without taking a point hit. Wasting 4 points, and money on Tevez doesn't seem worth it to me. I got Tevez at 11.0 (he's now 11.2) so money also isn't an issue for me.

Possibly downgrade Milner to MGP/Etherington and then use the money to swap Knight and Simpson to Kolarov and Konchesky/Kyrgiakos. That's what I'd do over the next couple of weeks at least.

Saving transfers then making three is pointless. You might aswell make the two most important ones now then the third next week if youre going to do that. Costs four points either way.

On form and neither Blackburn or Arsenal have been exactly water tight at the back.

Add to that the chances of a big haul at home to Blackpool.

Blackburn are at HOME, where they have kept 2 clean sheets in the last 2... and which could have been 3 were it not for a well taken free kick from N'Zogbia...

Do your research, and think before you speak...

My comment was Blackburn haven't exactly been watertight at the back, which is correct.

Yes they are at home, but anyone that concedes 7 home or away are certainly still not watertight.

They are obviously a different team playing at Ewood Park, and that is all that matters for the game against Stoke...

Take it easy mate, they also conceded 6 goals in their previous home games, were extremely lucky to not concede vs wolves (woodwork hit 3 times, excellent GK), and are always on the brink of conceding a penalty. Plus at 5.7, it is not such a big deal to bench a player from time to time.

          Go Ethers!

Yeah 6 goals in 8 home games... and that's with games against Arsenal and Chelsea... you've just proved my point for me...

I'm not denying they were lucky against Wolves, but that's why you have a great goalkeeper like Robinson in your team, he is gonna save you from time to time...

    Uncertainty, I am suffering.

    With a team of:

    Krul/Carson

    Jagielka/Boswinga/Givet/Krygiakos (Kolarov)

    Nani/Nasri/Jarvis/Bale (VDV)

    Elmander/Drogs (tevez)

My intenetion is to get in Gerrard and Gyan over the next 2 weeks.

Is it worth either playing the 11 available, making no transfer hit and allowing for 2 free transfers next week (drogs, Jarvis out -> gerrard, gyan in) or transfering out Tevez this week for Gyan this week allowing a more flexible approach to GW17 and then Drogs -> Tevez and Jarvis -> Gerrard next week with a 4 point hit. Always that side dish that somebody else could get injured/suspension or VDV does not regain fitness before GW18.

    What would you do??

torres - good fixtures coming up
rooney - slightly cheaper, more involved in attacking play and usually scores against arsenal
or even keep drogba, see how he does tonite

The front line will be a pot shot this week if Drogba stays fit after tonight, it'll be interesting to see who comes out on top after this weekend. Torres should perform well, but who knows. Rooney and Berbatov looked good last night. With Carroll it could go either way and then there's Odemwingie who could run circles round Villa.

Was thinking the same thing, it's a toss up between Begovic and Gordan, but Gordon always seems to get injured and i'm probably getting Bardsley in as well. Gomes was one of the worst transfer decisions i've made, i've had him from the start. Tottenham were keeping loads of clean sheets at home last season.

Usually don't comment but not sure what direction to take with my team the next few weeks..

          Foster/Krul
          Coleman/Vidic/Konchesky/P.Jones/Mummy
          Nasri/Nani/Pedersen/Jarvis/Albrighton
          Drogba/Odemwingie/Elmander

A ridiculous 9.8m in the bank. Was thinking either Jarvis or Albrighton out for Cahill this week, with a view to Drogba out for Torres/Tevez/Balotelli next week.. Or potentially Drogba out for Torres or Balotelli this week with a view to Kolarov in for mummy the next week.

I think my favourite thing he's said is now:
                      Stella: "What is this one?"
German bloke: "That's a white sausage."
The Brand: "...I've got one of those."
Followed by a lovely awkward silence.

                      He has to win.

I thought The Trip was great, and good to see it getting some love on here. I imagine it's the kind of comedy that the vast majority of braindead couch potato morons we have in this country just wouldn't get (not that I'm saying that's what you lot are of course :D).

I hope Coogan get's given another chance at a character based series, as I'm a big fan. Ok, Saxondale was good but not great, but I certainly think there's more left in the tank, maybe a darker houmour like we know he has.

Torres will be up against Sol Campbell and there's a thing about when a team is down it's fun to kick them in the balls even more, so I'd go Torres.

You reckon it would be madness to play both Foley and Jarvis this week (Birmingham home)? I`m benching VdV, Tevez and Kolarov so don`t have any other subs...

He plays more with his hair than he does the ball and one thing Roy Hodgson was right about him being not England material the way he is playing. I think once they get rich some players just do not have the grit. Look at Blackpool low wages and true grit. Man city, some Liverpool and some Chelsea players take it too easy and its one thing Fergie somehow manages to get true grit out of most of his players but Rooney recently - However even Rooney might be getting on with it again even with more money so Fergie knows how to get millionaires to attack like starved tigers. Glen johnson has had it too easy from his Chelsea days and through his Benitez days.

                I think Ferguson hits them.

But anyway, Glen Johnson played under Benitez very briefly after leaving Portsmouth, but he was probably earning a packet there too. I mean more a week than we do in a year.

And Arsenal, even though they flop about sometimes, it's not for a lack of 'grit', and they get paid very well.

I think it's more likely the manager.

Yes I think Fergie would give him a hairdryer treatment and he would cut that hair into a skinhead and start playing football instead of adjusting the band on his dreads every five minutes.

Does help out attacking wise, more likely to keep his place (imo), played the last 9. Kyrg just looks dangerous from corners/set pieces.

I’m planning on getting Rooney or Torres in for Elmander, I need an extra 1million though. Not too sure where to find it any suggestions or thoughts on:-

          a. Downgrade Evra to Rafeal
          b. Downgrade Konch to Foley / Simpson
          c. Downgrade VDV to MGP
          d. Downgrade Bale to MGP

          Robinson, Carson
          A. Cole, Konchesky, Evra, Kolarov, Dann
          VDV, Nani, N’Zogbia, Bale, Nasri

          I'm thinking:

Robinson (Carson) - (Robinson get more saves, doubt either will keep a cleanie?)

Coleman Konchesky / Jara (Simpson, Kolarov)
          Nani Adam Nasri Bale N'Zogbia
          Drogba Welbeck (Tevez)

I'm still toying with taking out Drogba, but depends on tonights performance and fitness etc. Also thinking this might be the week to leave the rest of the team alone and switch my keepers to fix rotation. Carson > Foster...Good long term move at least?

Watch tonights game, see how Drogba performs and if he looks in good shape for the weekend first.

Then you have Rooney/Berbatov who looked good last night, Torres possibly and Odemwingie against Villa should grab some points.

Wait til Friday, make sure you don't get someone in and then they get injured in training!
