Captain Sensible

Who are the best FPL captain options for Blank Gameweek 18?

Fantasy Premier League managers face a difficult choice for the Blank Gameweek 18 captaincy.

Even before Monday’s fixture rearrangements for Spurs, Fulham and Aston Villa, differentiating between Kevin De Bruyne (£11.7m) and Bruno Fernandes (£11.3m) was proving challenging for many.

Now that Harry Kane (£11.0m) and Son Heung-min (£9.8m) have been handed a favourable home fixture against underprepared opposition the debate has been thrown wide open.

More than ever, Fantasy managers need some help with the armband, which is where the Captain Sensible article comes in.

As always, we will look into the best options’ underlying statistics, comparing them against the defensive data of their upcoming opponents using the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area.

Anyone else got at least 1 player in every game this GW? I quite like spreading the risk in a BGW.

    For me it's 3 City, 3 United, 2 Spurs, 1 Newcastle, 1 Wolves, 1 Arsenal.

They've just played 120 minutes and penalties a few days ago, and often collapse against the bigger sides. Can see United put them to the sword.

they didnt play in GW17 so that kinda counters that i think, they have got better and better and kept quite a few clean sheets now, they have conceded just 3 goals in the last 6 i think

I'm thinking of doing Alioski & Justin > Stones & Cancelo

Normally I wouldn't even consider this but:

Alioski & Justin blank in GW18,
Apparently there's some doubt over Leeds retaining their DGW.
City's impressive defensive displays of late and their DGW19.

Worth a gamble, as a clean sheet against Brighton repays the -8?

Wouldn’t do that for 2 city defenders who have a minor chance of pep roulette despite your reasons with Leeds for 19

Locked in. Hesitating between Stones and Gundogan but Brighton seem to have a lot of offensive minded players out.

I was at 442 for a while with, Saiss, Tierney, Cancelo and Stones. Think I fancy Sheffield Utd to get a result, Newcastle are a poor team!

      Gundogan is in good form!

Yeah, if Sheffield are going to get a win ever, this is their week with so much time to prepare.

Gundogan looks really good and even if Man City keep a cleansheet and he blanks 3pts is not the worst for a 5.5M punt.

    Kane Lacazette Wilson

    Thanks all 🙂

I think Spurs, City and United are relatively safe bets for CS. Anyway you can get Rashford in as they seem to do well at Burnley!

Burnley played 120 minutes in the cup, United have won there in the last 4 seasons....

        Really?

My only guys playing RN are: Dias, Cancelo, Kilman, KDB, Rashford, Bruno.

There might be other gameweeks that are generally harder to manage, but me losing Martinez, Grealish, and DCL at the last minute makes this one pretty darn bad for me despite my best laid plans.

Would you restructure this lot to accomodate Sterling or GTG?

    DDG
    Cancelo Tierney Stones
KDB (c) Bruno Son Rashford Saka
    Kane Wilson

    Mitchell

    Cheers.

      You could go
      Darlow in for DDG
      McTominay in for Rashford
      Sterling in for Saka
      Dias in for Cancelo

But I have Sterling and not FH if I can. But would would love your team for this GW. But the FH is borderline for me.

Don't be worrying about Sterling, it is a nice problem not to have!

Not FH this week and TC next week

    Martinez*
    Taylor, Holding Stones Mitch
    Son, KDB, Fernandes, Zaha,
    Bamford*, DCL*

    Steer, Cresswell, Salah, Delap
    1FT and 0.2ITB

    A. DCL >> Wilson
    B. DCL + Taylor >> Wilson + AWB (-4)
    C. Salah + DCL >> Rashford/Sterling + Wilson (-4)
    D. DCL + Taylor + Delap >> Wilson + Cancelo + Davies (-8)

It's a pretty close call. I think Dias is more likely to play every game, but Cancelo is almost as likely to play every game, and slightly more likely to give an attacking return when he does play. I'd probably risk it and go Cancelo.

Rather cover Spurs defence with Lloris or United defence with DDG?

Currently on the United man. Defence of DDG Cancelo Saiss Tierney

      Lloris. Spurs are better defensively.

One would believe so given that overall they have more clean sheets
