Scoutcast Episode 361 – More fixture changes add to Double Gameweek 19 challenges

Joe and Seb are joined by Karam to discuss the key issues affecting Fantasy Premier League managers in Double Gameweek 19.

Just days after mulling over Blank Gameweek 18’s issues, Joe, Seb and Karam are back again to take the next set of fixtures to task.

Southampton’s rearranged FA Cup clash with Shrewsbury has one of the biggest impacts. This means the Saints encounter with Leeds has been mothballed and both top flight sides have just a single fixture.

Where does this leave FPL managers looking to bench boost the likes of Patrick Bamford (£6.6m) and Che Adams (£6.0m)? Our trio take a look at the pros and cons of deploying this chip on single Gameweek assets.

Meanwhile the Everton and Villa game is off. So, there’s a blank for the Toffees. But Villa still have a double. They play Manchester City then Newcastle, as the Magpies game has now been shoehorned into Gameweek 19’s schedule.

Villa assets continue to be viable options, however, it remains to be seen how the Covid-19 infection that has swept through the club has affected its first team.

During the show Joe, Seb and Karam reveal their Gameweek 19 transfer plans and address the other important topics to help prepare FPL managers for this extended batch of games.

Is this a good week to use the Triple Captain chip? Which defenders should be brought in? And can West Ham star Michail Antonio (£6.2m)’s legs make it through the week?

As this latest episode was streamed during Thuesday night’s match between Arsenal and Crystal Palace, emotions were running high regarding the Scoutcast crew’s Gameweek 18 plans. They reveal how that set of limited fixtures impacted on their campaign.

There’s also fixtures to frisk, Seb attempts to describe a heat map and Joe has to eat humble pie regarding the Sheffield United defence.

    Ive got both Foden & Stones in my FH team. What are chances of them playing both games?

      Good....Foden has guarunteed starts with his form....Stones and Dias have become the 1st choice backline...Cancelo could again make way for Walker when he does return and be shunted off to the left which is not his natural position...

      Stones should be definite on form and given Laporte, Ake and Garcia are out (or should be for the first game at least), Pep's comments on Foden and his form in general mean he's well worth a go in FH although I never rely on Pep with him

      54 percent combined- foden I’d say is 60 percent given threat of pep roulette, and stones is 90 percent

      I'd be confident Stones starts, I'd worry about Foden - even with form and positive comments from Pep, no-one would be surprised if he doesn't start the next game.

    I still have my free hit, BB and wildcard chips.

    Martinez
    Dias Bednarek Coufal
    KDB Son Bruno Gundogan Zaha
    Watkins Kane

    Button, Bamford, Dallas Taylor*

    Best move here?

    A. Kane > Vardy and maybe play TC chip on Mo or KDB
    B. Adams + Taylor > Watkins + Dawson(-4) and BB.

    Martinez
    Cancelo Stones Coufal Konsa
    Salah Bruno KDB Raphinha
    Kane Bamford
    Meslier Adams Anguissa Taylor

    1 FT 0.1 ITB. All chips left.

    This forum tends to favour Dias over Cancelo. Looking at the last few games Cancelo seems to be a lot more attacking with a couple of missed goal chances.

    Is it because Dias has more bonus potential??

    1. Piksau
      • 9 Years
      3 years, 2 months ago

      Cancelo is the his preferred right side because Walker is out....if and when Walker returns Cancelo could again be shunted to the left which is not his natural position.....
      Dias is a nailed on starter and a big threat on corners...

    2. Maddamotha
      • 7 Years

      Cancelo is a rotation risk with Walker back.

    3. rubberdignerapids
      • 4 Years

      Cancelo is more of the rotation risk but has the bigger upside. Dias is Pep’s most nailed defender

    4. kennethrhcp

      Dias is no.1 pick & safest (if that can be said about a pep lineup)

    5. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 3 Years
      3 years, 2 months ago

      Dias is safer and during tight games is always up there for bonus points, but Cancelo is naturally more attacking and has great potential going forwards for attacking returns or bps from his general attacking play. Lately he's moving into a CM position often when City attack while Dias, Stones and Zinchenko revert to 3 CBs but I actually think it's restricted his attacking potential a bit as I think he's far better out wide. Dias is a safer pick in general and is still a threat from setpieces as well

    I think Salah is the best captain this week. Unless we get injury news otherwise, I'm gonna cap him. Maybe even TC him.

    Liverpool are at home for both games. They have not lost there since like 2017. Mo especially performs great. They've also had extended rest and time to reflect on some poor results.

    I fully expect them to come out guns blazing. Since when has MUN been a fortress? They have had poor results against all their top 6 rivals this season. Losing to Spurs 6-1, losing to even Arsenal and grinding out some bore draws against City and Chelsea.

    Even if he blanks vs MUN, he has BUR next. This is a fixture in years past where you might TC even for a SGW. Mo is also more nailed on to play 180 than KdB. KdB has better fixtures on paper, but are they really? Villa have been very good this season and CPL have just kept 2 clean sheets in a row. Since dropping PvA they kept Arsenal to 0.06 xG last game.

    The more I do analysis and look into the pros and cons, I can't see KdB being a superior option to Mo this week and I've been one of KdB's biggest supporters this year holding him through difficult periods.

      I just can’t disagree more. Liverpool just don’t look right and dropping points all over the place. United are on form and will counter attack this weak Liverpool defence.

      Burnley have shown how hard they are to break down too. Exactly the type of game Liverpool have struggled with.

      Salah looks poor in general too and I’m happy not having him.

      He still might get a goal and he’s never a bad choice as Salah can go crazy. But firm, fixtures and other options suggest there are several better options

        The wonderful thing about football is that form isn't permanent. We saw it with Arsenal. Nobody went anywhere near them and all it takes is one big performance to turn it all around.

        It was less than a month ago that they won 7-0 at Palace.

      I think both Man Utd and Burnley will be low scoring games for Liverpool. I believe Salah only once has gotten an attacking return against Man Utd, and Burnley look quite good defensively atm.

      Im starting to think the same and captain Salah.
      This rears the question. Is it worth keeping Kane and forgetting KDB this week?

      Instead get Triple City defence.

      Interesting points and leaning this way too, it seems like a pivotal decision for C or TC this week with Salah poor form VS KDB looking tired and potentially risk of a rest VS Bruno on 4 yellows. Tricky!

      Do you worry about Antonio's game time?

        A little, but I’m hoping he gets 60 mins or so in both since they have no other senior striker options in the club now that they’ve sold Haller, plus he got some minutes in the FA cup tie...he will be a big positive differential in my mini leagues if it pays off

    B. Son => Rashford
    C. Reguilon => Cresswell
    D. Laca + Reguilon => Vardy + Srtuijk -4
    E. Laca + Grealish => Antonio + Rashford -4
    F. Laca + Son + Reguilon => Antonio + Salah + Coufal -8
