How Arteta has revitalised Arsenal’s attack and what it means for FPL managers

Mikel Arteta’s recent changes to his Arsenal team appear to have been getting the best out of his attacking options.

Even though the Gunners’ upcoming fixtures are not the most appealing, Fantasy Premier League managers would do well to keep an eye on north London.

Accordingly, we have analysed the fortunes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.3m), Emile Smith Rowe (£4.5m), Bukayo Saka (£5.3m) and Alexandre Lacazette (£8.3m) after fourth win in five Premier League games.

    Who should be first on the chopping block from these defenders:

    A) Chilwell
    B) Bednarek
    C) Coufal
    D) Dallas

    Considering shifting one of these to Mitchell for funds to do a City double up.
    Cheers!

      Chilwell imo, although maybe Bednarek given their fixtures and Saints' form trailing off

      It's less than 3 points a week! Just play better than him by concentrating on small details rather than picking completely different players in a desperate attempt to catch up quickly.

      Don't worry too much about that and play your natural game. 50 points is nothing with half season left. I narrowed down my gap with ML leader to 5 points from 37 points last gw, despite taking (-8) and him not taking any hits. I have more players left to play as well. So, I could be leading come the end of this gw. Some captaincy luck going your way and a few differentials will cover that easily. Just don't try to be different for the sake of it.

      At 50 points you don't need to take too many risks. Block they're major attacking threats (Fernandes, Son etc.) and make sure your defence has consistent points churners in them (City). Having decent (only 1 or maybe 2) differentials in attack can help get your there quicker too, but don't be too aggressive with captaincy picks.
      1 other thing don't be too fixated on them and make sure you play a natural game that doesn't sacrifice OR to win your bitter head to head 🙂

      Good luck

      50 points is not a lotcinsidering half of the season is left. Just play your game and try to have one or two differentals. No need to go too maverick.

      your rival may be trying to guess what you will do to block you ... make that difficult .... play aggressive, take -4 to attack fixture mis-matches, don’t be sentimental with ‘season keepers’ or ‘money tied up’, if a player hits form then get him ... GL

      He was a lot further forward last night than the game at the weekend where he hardly moved from just in front of the centre halfs the whole time. He's still a cheap option for guaranteed 90mins but likes of Saka are far more attacking.

    Need to cover some MCI ground. What would you do

    A) James -> Stones or Dias
    B) Raphina/Vardy -> KDB / Brewster (Bench fodder)
    C) straight Salah -> KDB

    1. Jafalad
      • 14 Years
      3 years, 1 month ago

      I got Stones in at 4.8 and was a real bargain. He is still great value at 5.1. I personally think a CTY double up in D is the way to go with three ubers. Ideally Stones and Cancello.

      However, I see KDB is away at WBA next and I think you need him for that one. Option B for me.

        thanks. Got blindsided by the first BB appointments and now scrambling to correct.

        I'd have prefered a 6.x like Watkins, but that would mean moving out 2 mids (soucek)

      A out of those right now. Dias a tad bit more nailed but both good picks.

      I like B. But Leicester seem to be clicking and they have Leeds and Fulham in 2 of the next 3. Vardy could be worth holding. Leeds vs Newcastle could be good for Raph as well.

          Mitchell is a playing defender as well. My problem wasn't with a playing sub. It surely is a good thing to have. But I felt too much money was invested in defense, especially Robbo. I'm not sure he is worth the 7m+ price tag you pay for him.

    other backline is : Dias / Cancelo / Robbo / Coufal
    ITB 0.7

    which one is the best option going forward :
    A. Dier (have 2 extra games)
    B. AWB or Maguire (already have Bruno and Martial)
    C. Dallas (have 1 extra game but fixture maybe not great)

      Depends if you want the higher upside potential of Cancelo or the safer center backs

      Then it’s the more nailed Dias over Stones.

      I know it’s not popular, but Ederson is a steady pick with little chance of rotation.

      Personally Cancelo & Dias would seem to be the go to guys ... but I somehow ended up with Stones & Ederson

    Start:

    A) Soucek
    B) Robertson

    The projections tool says Soucek, but it feels wrong to bench Robbo and I also don't have any Spurs attack, so could be a decent differential if they can hold out. Also it looks like Antonio back is affecting Soucek negatively.

    That DCL -1 really took a hit on my team was ready to do a DCL, Kilman > Antonio, Stones after DCL fall I was short of .1 for antonio. settle for a DCL, Kilman, Anguiss > Stones, Watkins, Soucek.. hope Watkins does deliver.

    GW20 need Other alternative for Soucek at 5.3 straight FT no hits.

    Kane (LIV, bha, CHE, WBA, mci, whu) > Keep or Sell ?? Dont have Son either.

    I have KDB, Salah, Bruno, Soucek, ESR, Antonio and Bamford in attack.

    Fixtures look difficult except for WBA but I've lost out on around 50-70 pts by not having either of them during first few GWs of the season for the same reason. And it feels as though theyre playing even more defensively than before.

    Will he outscore Vardy (eve, LEE, ful, wol, LIV, avl) over next 4 ? Leicester seem to be in good form too.

    Thoughts ??

        Yes but Kane to Son especially with a hit+Davis(non playing sub) seems too sideways without any other benefits to the rest of the team

          Play ESR as 7th attack every week, likely to get points regularly

          YES that’s seems the best way but do you think we can go without spurs player so for the next 5-6 GWs?

            That is the question Im trying to figure out. I already have Kane and might get Vardy but in your case you have too much invested in defense at the moment. For a start you can sell Chilwell this week or AWB to spread the risk (given you have DDG for cover) or bank FT and sell next week, both have decent fixture and chance of CS in GW 20.

    What to do with Vardy? He has not scored since GW14's 12 point haul, registering only two assists during GWs 15-19. To be honest he has looked quite tired in all the matches I've seen from Leicester. However, fixtures look promising for the next four gameweeks. If you are going to replace him, who will you take instead? No option at similar price as Kane costs 1 million more. Maybe downgrade to someone like Antonio and use the money elsewhere?

      Ings if you can although Soton's form isn't great. But I'm on the same lines of thinking, of the games I've watched recently he hasn't looked his usual threat and I think it's due to the return of Maddison and how his position and play impacts how the team plays so I'm thinking of upgrading El Ghazi / Gundo to him and moving Vardy to Ings (although honestly I don't want to rid of either of my midfield options)

    Have a good team but not sure which way to take it forward

    Martinez, Forster
    Dallas, Maguire, Stones, Mitchell, Creswell
    Bruno, KdB, Salah, Son, Soucek
    Bamford, Antonio, Watkins

    1FT, 1.2 ITB

    A - Son, Watkins -> Kane, Gundogan (over 2 GW)
    B - Creswell -> Cancelo/Dias
    C - Son-> Maddison/Barnes
    D - Salah -> Rashford
    E - Soucek -> Gundogan
    F - save
