Captain Sensible

Who is the best FPL captain for Double Gameweek 25?

Fantasy Premier League are largely between Southampton and Leeds United assets for the Double Gameweek 25 captaincy.

Patrick Bamford (£6.9), Raphinha (£5.4m) and Danny Ings (£8.4m) have replaced the usual suspects as the front-runners considering they each face two fixtures in the next week.

Despite Leeds and Southampton sitting 11th and 13th in the Premier League respectively, they offer plenty of entertainment value for neutral fans thanks to Marcelo Bielsa and Ralph Hasenhüttl’s offensive approaches to the game.

Still, some Fantasy managers might be tempted by some of the single Gameweek options, especially with Bruno Fernandes (£11.5m) facing an out-of-form Newcastle defence.

As ever, the Captain Sensible article is here to help with your Double Gameweek 25 captaincy decision. As this uses extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

Bamford is the runaway leader in this week’s Captaincy Poll, nearly 60.0% of our voters willing to hand the armband to Leeds’ leading goal-scorer.

Behind him in the second place is team-mate Raphinha, just short of 14.0% of total votes. The former Rennes player has now delivered Fantasy returns in each of his last five Premier League appearances and, of course, as a midfielder, stands to be better rewarded for clean sheets and goals than Bamford.

Fernandes and Ings are tied in third, gaining 7.8% of votes each.

Understandably, Fantasy managers are willing to back Leeds assets given their attacking potential and high ceiling but are Fernandes and Ings capable of delivering bigger scores as this week’s differential captaincy picks? Is there perhaps an overlooked player, for example the Goals Imminent table king Nathan Redmond (£6.4m), worth our consideration

    Martinez - 4.0
    Cancelo - Stones - AWB - Mee - 3.8
    Salah - Bruno - Sterling - Grealish - Burke
    Antonio - Bamford - Cavani

Do I WC this round or next one? (BB still left to play)

Maybe just do Grealish to Raphina then WC next week. Maybe Antonio to Ings if you can afford it aswell.

Thanks. I can afford those two. But losing 0.4 on Grealish value just for one round bothers me 🙁

Arghhh so hard to choose, here it is now:

        Martinez, Lloris
        Cancelo, Dias, Shaw, Lowton, Dallas
        Salah, Bruno, Gundo, Raphinha, Barnes
        Kane, Bamfrod, Watkins

Thing is I can afford either of Barnes and Mads, so torn

Looks good and very similar to what mine could look like should i WC tomorrow. Is this for a BB? I've used mine last GW so i could invest more funds into main 11.
Ignoring Son all togrther and going with Kane?
Yeah it is a toughie, but i'd feel much more confident with Maddison.

Yeh going to put my faith in Kane and go Son-less I think

            This is indeed for BB26

Last thing I am now weighing up is Shaw or AWB... going for Barnes over Mads allows me to do AWB if I want...

Maddison vs Barnes (last six GW's)

Mins per big chance 603 vs 205.3
Mins per shot inside box 100.5 vs 51.3

Yeah, I don't buy the argument that I've made a mistake activating WC. The people who are afraid to play WC now seem like the same people who missed the best opportunity to play BB last season in DGW30+, right after the restart. Some of them wound up playing BB toward the end of the season for hardly any points.

Hi guys. I really need some advice. How do I look on my WC ( I'm planning on BB in GW26) :
    Martinez - McCarthy
    TAA - Cancelo - Stones - Rudiger - Burn
    Salah - Grealish - Barnes - Rahihna - Harrison
    Kane - Bamford - Ings

I would most likley look to do Bamford to Watkins for GW 26.
    What do you think?

Gundo in there over Harrison for me.

Gundo will perhaps go in there instead of Harrison but for GW 26.

Last decision to make on wc is

    A) alonso + strujik
    B) Shaw + dallas

Will bb 26 so Shaw dallas looks stronger for bb, but alonso strujik could be better longer term especially structure wise, bit scary not having dallas this week tho

    Martinez - Areola
    Cancelo - Dias - Cresswell - Dallas - Mitchell
    Salah - Bruno - Son - Gundo - Raphina
    Richarlison - Bamford - Antonio

I have all of my chips left. Would you WC this team? I could do a -4 and have Ings this week. If I did a WC this week, I would still want three Leeds and Ings. I would then probably need to do at least a -4 to make a BB worthwhile next week Would it be better to just WC next week, take no hits, and field a strong 11 DGW players? Or maybe even free hit depending on what GW 29 looks like. That way, I would not have to get rid of a good player like Cresswell.

Having all chips is great and a really unique position to be in.

If I had that luxury I would certainly WC this week and load up with all DGW 26 assets plus three Leeds. I would then pre determine which two Leeds players I want to move for 26 and have cash in the bank ready for those moves if necessary. A hit is no biggie on a BB DGW week. Maybe just roll with Bamford as your only non DGW player.

Be sure to load up on lots of nice differentials (Leicester players in particular). The vast majority wildcarding early are hamstrung by the blank in 29 but you have no issue with that so you have a variety of different and exciting options to pick from. You want to absolutely maximise this period with all your chips so don’t hold back and enjoy.

Shaw I think. More risk of rotation/rest but much greater attacking potential.

Yeh AWB is certainly more nailed... he also picked up a 17 point haul a couple weeks back!

Yeah his chance creation recently had been crazy. Think he's second amongst all players (after mount) in last few

Would you start Pope or McCarthy this week?

Surely McCarthy is safe for a four pointer? Worth taking that when I’m starting Lowton?

I can see Chelsea and Leeds scoring.
I would start Pope and lowton against WBA

I have Pope starting over McCarthy but then I don't have a second Burnley defender.

A variety of answer I’m getting. A tough goalie decision is just one you’re guaranteed to get wrong in fpl haha.

Not for me- better options ahead such as Kane in 26 or City player in 27 or 28 once DGW’s confirmed

Should i WC tomorrow....... i'd really wanna shake it up and maybe go a leicester mid over Son.

Is losing Son a grave error? I've kept him so long. I'd be having Kane anyway if i chose Maddison for example.

Always risk, personally I think Kane is enough, Spurs in shocking form lately and West Ham won't be total pushovers

Yeh it seemed when i've always had Son and no Kane, the Kane owners still won over, those with both fair enough, but Kane always seemed to out do Son. Hmmm decisions, cheers bud!

Depends on team and what chips already played- as I have played BB and FH and set up OK for 25- 29 ( as long as DGW’s confirmed as expected) I aim to WC for fixture swing in 31

Yeah i guess, i used FH back in GW 8, to great effect no less, but BB last GW, so just got WC & TC left now.
Yeah i reckon i'll be ok 25 to 29 also should DGW's go ahead. Juast deciding wether to WC tomorrow or from 31, i'm massively chasing though in my ML and from a 500k rank. would you WC in that case to have more of an impact?

If your team looks good to 29 I would wait until 31 as fixture swing could give you big advantage
