Chip Strategy

Which chips are FPL managers using for Double Gameweek 26?

Disparity reigns supreme as Fantasy Premier League managers decide which chip to use for Double Gameweek 26.

Ahead of the bumper round of fixtures, no chip has appeared an overwhelming favourite, according to our latest poll.

We asked Fantasy Football Scout users which chip they were planning for Double Gameweek 26 and received some intriguing results.

It is not tremendously surprising to see the Bench Boost as the most popular chip.

14 teams have two fixtures in Double Gameweek 26. As a result, the pool of viable players for a Bench Boost arguably increases for this round, while the ceiling for points from cheaper options is also higher than usual.

Such thinking has led to 29.3% of Fantasy Football Scout voters declaring for the Bench Boost ahead of Double Gameweek 26.

However, there was not a majority share of the votes for this option, a gap of just 2.8 percentage points between Bench Boosters and Triple Captainers.

27.0% of our voters are looking to hand the enhanced armband to their skipper in Double Gameweek 26.

As things stand, Harry Kane (£11.1m) still leads our latest captain poll with Bruno Fernandes (£11.6m), Ilkay Gundogan (£6.1m), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.6m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) the top-five there.

It is also interesting to note that nearly as many Fantasy Football Scout readers are preparing to use no chip as use the Triple Captain.

26.3% of our voters chose this option, a statistic that should take on great significance in a week where chips are very much the talk of the town.

Meanwhile, the Wildcard has received less attention than its so-called colleagues so far.

As is often the case, we saw more managers use it in the week before the big Double Gameweek, lining up to prepare for a maximised Bench Boost.

As a result, 14.8% of Fantasy Football Scout voters are pulling the trigger on a new squad ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Finally, the Free Hit is the real differential chip for Double Gameweek 26, especially after a large number of managers deployed this chip in Blank Gameweek 18.

According to our recent poll, only 2.6% of voters are considering the Free Hit chip for Double Gameweek 26.

You can still vote in the poll below.

Got FH chip still, and would like to use BB this gw. Got 1 FT and 0 ITB, what would you do with that bench?

    Martinez
    Shaw - Rudiger - Stones - Cancelo
    Salah - Son - Fernandes - Gundogan
    Kane - Watkins
Bench: McCarthy - Bamford - Dallas - Raph

I wouldn't BB if you still have WC. All you'd get BB this week is 3 extra SGW players and 1 DGW player.

If you have WC, take a look at GW32, all the big boys have got good fixtures, so there's probably more value in BB there. For example:

      McCarthy v Palace
      Rudiger v Leeds
      Saka v Fulham
      Antonio v Newcastle

Ah didn't see the hit, thats tough as Leeds boys could do what they did last night. I'm weighing it up on BB whether to hold them or sell as well! I think Barnes over Raphinha should gain you more than 4pts but it's not guaranteed. If in doubt then maybe better to hold

    (1FT, 1.6 itb)

A great DGW and plays in GW29, I think so, but you will go without?

So you would do Cavani, Soucek and Messlier -> Kane, Lookman and Areola (-8)? I’m 1.4 short of money for that...

I think Kane is a great option but given your team I wouldn't get him. As you're looking to BB so I think you can use transfers better to maximise points there. By getting Kane you're either taking out Son or Digne who have great games, or getting someone like Vydra!

Option 1 looks best imo. Depends what long term strategy is though, I'm hanging on to Son when I'd otherwise be selling him as he has a game in GW29. If that were a factor then option 3 would be best, although Digne has a nice DGW.

Thoughts on this strategy? Planning on maneuvering from DGW26 to BGW29 with no hits, and then using free hit in GW30.

    DGW26
    Martinez
    Stones Cancelo Digne Targett
    Bruno Son Salah Gundo Raphinha
    DCL
    (Sanchez Bamford Antonio Coufal)

    BGW29
    Martinez
    Targett Dunk Coufal Bellerin
    Son Raphinha Grealish
    Kane Bamford Antonio
    (Sanchez Bruno Gundo Cancelo)

I don't think that's ideal given that you'll have x2 Leeds (City away) and x3 Villa (Liverpool away) in GW31.

I'd FH in 29 personally and plan to shift some Leeds/Villa players after GW30 for their fixture swing.

Sorry, just realised the typo in my original post. I don’t have the free hit any more, but will be using wildcard in GW30 instead. I’m just wanting to get 11 on the field for the blank, and then rebuild from there.

Not sure if this is worth a Wildcard or not, or whether to go Triple Captain instead?

    Pope
    Stones Dallas Lowton (Coufal Holding)
    Son Fernandes Rafinha Sterling Grealish
    DCL Bamford (Antonio)

1FT Could do Grealish > Barnes, and maybe take -4 somewhere else and team wouldn’t be too bad to then TC.

    Thoughts?

Tough as losing Sterling for a hit is what puts me off. He's frustrating to own but we know what he's capable of and taking him out ahead of 2 dgws doesn't feel right

Yeah fair point. I'm more worried about rotation at MCY though given everyone is fit and they have a lead in the PL, whereas the likes of Son and Kane will start every game.

I was also planning to save my FH for post 29, so bringing in TOT players now makes sense for that. If doing B) I'd have 7 starters for 29 (2 TOT, 2 AVL, 2 LEE, 1 WHU) and 3 FTs to bring in more if needed. If getting DCL instead then that might sway me more towards a FH29. Food for thought!

Can see the appeal if building a team for 29. Maybe going Son and Kane makes more sense then. Think B is a good option as well so go with your plan for 29. I really like DCL as well, would you be tempted to also do bamford to DCL? Or can you not afford that?

I’m really not sure what to do and could do with a fresh set of eyes. I have 1FT, all my chips (BB, TC, FH & WC) and 3.7 ITB.

    11xDWG
    Pope
    Dias, Stones, Mee, Shaw
    Gundo, Bruno, Salah, Son

For all the BBoosters, how many DGWers do you have?

      Currently 11 - 13 with a -4 and SGW Dallas & Bamford. Is that worth a BB

Absolutely. You have 6 games on the bench and Leeds have a decent fixture.

If they are, they either missed a lot of Leeds points or took -12 this week.

    Morning

Lots seem to be considering Bruno for Capt & TC - doesn't that Chelsea fixture put you off?

It's between Kane and Gundo for me... I think.

I’m starting to learn that even one Bruno GW is good enough for a TC.

Wouldn’t put it past him coming out with attack points vs Chelsea either.

That's true. The same can be said about at least half a dozen other players, not just him.

Between those 2 for me as well
Vardy or Barnes is a slight temptation too (I'm on a WC)

I hope that all the players* who have game in GW29 will absolutely stink and blank for the weeks before that. All my serious cash ML rivals have burned their FH chips so will have to bring in those players in before.

*except Arsenal cause no one owns them and I want them to win.

Would you take a -8 hit for...
    Grealish to Barnes
    Antonio to Kane

If it meant you are starting Barnes and Kane over Bamford and Raph who were originally going to start for my team?

Just Grealish to Barnes and play one of the Leeds boys

Southampton are awful without Romeu. I don't trust DCL with captaincy but City TC the following week could be interesting.

DCL will likely play full minutes. You never know with Pep.

Is TC Kane really a wise thing to do? Spurs are a mess and Jose is hanging onto his job.

      Not for me.

I'm not sure even a C is wise.
