Chip Strategy

Which chips are FPL managers using for Double Gameweek 26?

Disparity reigns supreme as Fantasy Premier League managers decide which chip to use for Double Gameweek 26.

Ahead of the bumper round of fixtures, no chip has appeared an overwhelming favourite, according to our latest poll.

We asked Fantasy Football Scout users which chip they were planning for Double Gameweek 26 and received some intriguing results.

It is not tremendously surprising to see the Bench Boost as the most popular chip.

14 teams have two fixtures in Double Gameweek 26. As a result, the pool of viable players for a Bench Boost arguably increases for this round, while the ceiling for points from cheaper options is also higher than usual.

Such thinking has led to 29.3% of Fantasy Football Scout voters declaring for the Bench Boost ahead of Double Gameweek 26.

However, there was not a majority share of the votes for this option, a gap of just 2.8 percentage points between Bench Boosters and Triple Captainers.

27.0% of our voters are looking to hand the enhanced armband to their skipper in Double Gameweek 26.

As things stand, Harry Kane (£11.1m) still leads our latest captain poll with Bruno Fernandes (£11.6m), Ilkay Gundogan (£6.1m), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.6m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) the top-five there.

It is also interesting to note that nearly as many Fantasy Football Scout readers are preparing to use no chip as use the Triple Captain.

26.3% of our voters chose this option, a statistic that should take on great significance in a week where chips are very much the talk of the town.

Meanwhile, the Wildcard has received less attention than its so-called colleagues so far.

As is often the case, we saw more managers use it in the week before the big Double Gameweek, lining up to prepare for a maximised Bench Boost.

As a result, 14.8% of Fantasy Football Scout voters are pulling the trigger on a new squad ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Finally, the Free Hit is the real differential chip for Double Gameweek 26, especially after a large number of managers deployed this chip in Blank Gameweek 18.

According to our recent poll, only 2.6% of voters are considering the Free Hit chip for Double Gameweek 26.

You can still vote in the poll below.

Interesting to see people go so heavy on Everton

    Last 10 games
    14 points
    12 goals

Some tough fixtures in there of course but also some very juicy ones. They managed 1 goal for instance in total against Fulham SHU and Newcastle. Their best returns actually came in the big fixtures not the gimmes.

DCL is a decent option with the fixtures they have.

Its Digne who im doubtful about.

Sure he’s a good option - no arguing that but many are looking at hits and captaincy. Plausible I guess but bold on recent team form. 28 possibility a factor too I suppose

Yeah I wouldnt captain DCL as Everton are very unpredictable.
GW28 is the main pull for Digne for me otherwise I probably wouldn't get him.

The thing is, aside from Bruno, which captain candidate hasn’t been unpredictable this season? DCL looks like the safest option to me for this double

Mitigating factors, lot of injuries in the earlier period of that 10 games and have looked better on the eye of late. Two amazing fixtures in DGW plus potential extra DGW to follow in 28.

after owning DCL twice, I'm actually tempted by Richarlison instead. I just know DCL haul will hurt my rank far more

For me the key thing is DCL seems to have returned to form, Richarlison has looked better of late but most key will be Allan's return, he gives the defence that extra cover allowing for the likes of Digne and Coleman to attack more and he will naturally turn over possession more so I expect we'll see more attacks from them in general

      I think so.

DCL is not a good captaincy shout for anyone that doesn't look beyond raw fixtures imo. Everton are super inconsistent. They have clean sheets against Liv, Lei, Che, Tot but have also blanked against New, Whu, Ful, Wol, Sou.

take the TC out of the equation and go with who you TRULY think will score the most points
If that's DCL and you're happy to use the chip then go for it

I'm tempted by Salah or Bruno myself and may be bringing in DCL (for the 3rd time)

Don't see the need to wildcard at all.
You can field 9 x DGW, potential 10 with Cavani. I would maybe drop Cavani to a nailed DGW (Watkins/Kane).

Would consider dropping Justin to a DGW for a -4 and BB even...

Really worried about not having Kane, but didn’t prepare well to get him in.
Only way to bring him in is
    Son > Barnes
    Cavani > Kane
    (-4)

(Only other options are to downgrade salah or Bruno but that’s even worse).

Kane just looked a lot better than Son this week. What do we think?

Sort of negates the use of the chip potentially. I have taken one hit to get shot of Soucek, as I didn't have enough funds for a straight swap to Barnes, but reasonably confident I'll make the 4 points back at worst.

Repost as bottomed. Help appreciated chaps.

    Which is best:

    A. Ings > Kane, start Raphinha

    B. Ings and Raphinha > DCL and Barnes (-4)

I don't have FH and would probably want Raphinha back for BGW 29

OK so here is my current squad

    Areola Sanchez
    Mee, Lowton, Dias, Stones, Coufal
    Grealish, Salah, Gundagon, Bruno, Soucek
    DCL, Bamford, Ings

    Am most likely going to do;
    Grealish > Barnes
    Ings > Kane -4

Any more transfers worth doing, no Martinet slightly worries me.

Not worth BB imo, have no FH or WC, should I TC?

I think it's a good week to TC with the one issue being that there's no one that is carrying good form AND fixtures for both games.

Poor team form won't matter for a forward....if he scores/assists 1-2 goals most matches then it doesn't matter what happens on the defensive end of the pitch....
And Kane with Son on the field will lead to goals most matches...
