Chip Strategy

Which chips are FPL managers using for Double Gameweek 26?

Disparity reigns supreme as Fantasy Premier League managers decide which chip to use for Double Gameweek 26.

Ahead of the bumper round of fixtures, no chip has appeared an overwhelming favourite, according to our latest poll.

We asked Fantasy Football Scout users which chip they were planning for Double Gameweek 26 and received some intriguing results.

It is not tremendously surprising to see the Bench Boost as the most popular chip.

14 teams have two fixtures in Double Gameweek 26. As a result, the pool of viable players for a Bench Boost arguably increases for this round, while the ceiling for points from cheaper options is also higher than usual.

Such thinking has led to 29.3% of Fantasy Football Scout voters declaring for the Bench Boost ahead of Double Gameweek 26.

However, there was not a majority share of the votes for this option, a gap of just 2.8 percentage points between Bench Boosters and Triple Captainers.

27.0% of our voters are looking to hand the enhanced armband to their skipper in Double Gameweek 26.

As things stand, Harry Kane (£11.1m) still leads our latest captain poll with Bruno Fernandes (£11.6m), Ilkay Gundogan (£6.1m), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.6m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) the top-five there.

It is also interesting to note that nearly as many Fantasy Football Scout readers are preparing to use no chip as use the Triple Captain.

26.3% of our voters chose this option, a statistic that should take on great significance in a week where chips are very much the talk of the town.

Meanwhile, the Wildcard has received less attention than its so-called colleagues so far.

As is often the case, we saw more managers use it in the week before the big Double Gameweek, lining up to prepare for a maximised Bench Boost.

As a result, 14.8% of Fantasy Football Scout voters are pulling the trigger on a new squad ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Finally, the Free Hit is the real differential chip for Double Gameweek 26, especially after a large number of managers deployed this chip in Blank Gameweek 18.

According to our recent poll, only 2.6% of voters are considering the Free Hit chip for Double Gameweek 26.

You can still vote in the poll below.

I got three, but no Spurs cover.

        To get that. option is:

        a) Son, Raph, Bamford.

        b) Barnes, DCL and one out of Raph/Bam.

    Adams - Bamford

    (Johnstone - Watkins - Stones - Coufal)

Possibly get Digne or Pereira in for Alioski? And also taking a hit and doing Sterling > someone like Barnes which allows you to upgrade Che Adams to DCL Vardy or Kane.

      Looking something like...

      McCarthy
      Lowton Stones (Digne/Pereira)
      Barnes Gundo Salah Son Bruno
Watkins (Kane DCL or Vardy and captain one of them)

      Johnstone Bamford Mee Coufal

GTG? -4 taken to get Digne and Barnes in for Dallas and Grealish. BB used in GW19, only got FH and TC left. Hoping to break top 30k this GW.

    Martinez
    Cancelo Digne Stones
    Salah Bruno Barnes Gundogan Raphinha
    DCl Kane(TC)

    Pope Bamford Coufal Holding

Probably doing Pope > Fabri next week.

Would you wildcard or do -8 and bench boost with mainly Leeds players on bench?

    DGWers:

    Pope
    Dias
    Lowton
    Mitchell* (if he plays them)
    Fernandes
    Gundogan
    Sterling
    Salah

    SGWers:

    McCarthy

Antonio and Robertson > DCL and Aina makes sense for a -4, right?

    Rest of my team:

    Martinez (Johnstone)
    Shaw Stones __ (Dallas Coufal)
Salah (c) Sterling Bruno Gundo (Raphinha)
    Watkins Bamford __

Wanted Kane initially but not keen on tearing a decent DGW team apart for a -8 for a team/striker not in hot form. Can't have them all, I guess!

Aina really standing out for me in an improved Fulham defence. Creating chances, against the bottom two for xG over the last six weeks. Fixtures not great in 27 and 28, but plays in BGW29.

    Thoughts?

    1. Tonyawesome69
      • 5 Years
      3 years, 2 months ago

Even though Robbo is not in form, he has two games and I'm not sure it is worth the -4 to a Fulham def unless you cannot afford Antonio to DCL in a straight move

      1. RyanC
        • 9 Years
        3 years, 2 months ago

Unfortunately can't afford it in a single move.

I agree on Robbo, I'm always reluctant to take hits, especially on defenders. But his underlying stats are poor enough to make me think it's probably worth it.

Not too sure where else I'd make the cash up. Johnstone > fodder, maybe? But again, a -4 for a backup keeper out feels kind of wrong.

If you can fit him in then go for it, I stuck with just Gundogan and Dias after KDBs injury but used my WC last week and brought in Ederson, as well as being nailed and having 4 games in the next 2 gameweeks he could very well be on penalties (certainly sounds like Pep won't let Rodri take one again anyway and Ederson was heading for the last until Rodri took it)

Ignoring City, who is the best keeper & defender to have for this DGW? No price limits.

Sterling, Ings to Gundogan, Kane (TC) for -4?

Probably. I'm sad to lose Sterling, but he's never near bonus points which is a drag at that price

Not sure who to TC this week, been making a case for all 3 nominee's:

    A) Kane - Pro: 4 days rest between Bur/Ful games, Good fixtures to attack. Also Spurs play Europa league game tonight so extra day rest if used. Con: Spurs form hasn't been great in league and in the reverse fixtures they only scored 1 goal against both Bur/Ful.

    B) DCL - Pro: Fixtures good, Both Sou/WBA have conceded a lot of goals, Both Digne & James back in the team, Sou weak on right side without KWP, also Romeu out for Sou in the middle of the park. DCL differential. Con: only 3 days rest between the 2 games, Both Sou/WBA really need to pick up points.

    C) Salah - Pro: Playing SHU who are bottom of the league, Pool need to make a huge impression to pick up a win after 4 leagues defeats in a row. 4 days rest between SHU & Chelsea. Cons: SHU make be low scoring game if they keep defence tight enough but i can see it being 4-0 or so, Chelsea game will be tougher, Chelsea defence improve a lot recently but i still think there may be a goal or two in this.

After writing this all out to me I think I will go with DCL, I think that he has the biggest upside of the 3 with those fixtures.

I like DCL TC but very scared he would be rested against WBA, especially since they're playing Chelsea next

DCL would have 4 days rest between the WBA and Chelsea game so don't see that being a problem.

    On a WC..
(Still got FH so GW29 is irrelevant)

    A) Watkins
    B) Harvey Barnes

Pro Watkins - no europa league, still has a game to be rescheduled
Pro Barnes - form (player and team)

I'm also on WC this week, would be interesting to see your latest draft as there doesn't seem to be many others going down this route this week. Reason I activated it was I wanted rid of Pope, Ings, Holding, Lowton etc & wanted DCL, Barnes, Kane...

Dallas > who this week for BB?
Currently flip flopping between Digne, Reguilon, Aina or Pereira.

Other defenders are Cancelo, Dias, Shaw and Targett
