We are again turning to the odds provided by our official sportsbook partner, bet365, to wager a bet on the forthcoming Premier League action.

As ever, we urge you to gamble responsibly and always remember: when the fun stops, stop.

The Fantasy Flutter: Betting odds on the weekend’s Premier League action 2

GAMEWEEK 28 MATCH ODDS

DON’T BALE

Tottenham Hotspur’s attacking trio head into the North London derby bang-in form.

Adding Gareth Bale to the starting line-up and switching to a more attacking formation has done wonders for Jose Mourinho’s side, winning their last three games and scoring nine goals over that time.

Their new attacking style also seems to be getting the best out of Harry Kane, who has had six more shots than other striker in the last four Gameweeks.

Bale is also showing signs of returning to the kind of form that saw him break transfer records and score an overhead kick in a Champions League final, getting on the end of the most big chances out of all midfielders in the Premier League in the last two Gameweeks.

The Welshman has scored four goals in his last three games, opening the scoring against Crystal Palace and Burnley.

For Bale to open the scoring again, bet365 are offering odds of 7/1, with 9/4 for him to score anytime.

Arsenal’s own big hitting midfielder, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, is back in the goals after being moved to a centre-forward position by Mikel Arteta.

He has the highest expected goals rating (xG) of all midfielders in the last four Gameweeks, scoring four goals.

If you fancy Aubameyang to open the scoring, then bet365 is offering 4/1.

BRUCE ARENA

Steve Bruce will see the visit of his former side as Newcastle take on Aston Villa.

With the Magpies slipping ever closer to the relegation zone and pressure cranking up on Bruce, they will surely go looking for the win.

But without their three first choice strikers, Newcastle even failed to pose a threat to West Brom.

So against a Villa team that have conceded one goal in three games, keeping two clean sheets, Newcastle could find it even harder to hit the back of the net.

And it has been a similar story for Aston Villa, who without their talisman Jack Grealish have scored one goal in three games.

Bet365 will give you 8/11 for there to be two goals or less.

For those wanting bigger odds, a 1-0 Villa win, the same score they beat Leeds by, is priced at 13/2.

Should Villa and Newcastle fail to score, then bet365’s Bore Draw No Money Back would see your stake returned.

ATTACK VS DEFENCE

One of the league’s best defences in Chelsea meet one of the division’s most attacking teams in Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds.

Thomas Tuchel has quickly turned the Chelsea defence into one of the most miserly in Europe, conceding only two goals in their last seven games.

While Leeds lit up the first half of the season with dazzling attacking play, they have hit a bit of a slump in recent times.

The Peacocks have now failed to score in three of their last four games, and sit third bottom for expected goals (xG) in the last two Gameweeks.

With Chelsea heavy favourites, we’ve had a look at some of the more obscure markets and bets for value.

Despite being rotated in and out of the side, no defender in the Premier League has had more shots than Marcos Alonso over the last six Gameweeks.

With Tuchel preferring to start Alonso in games where Chelsea are the favourites, he could well line-up at wing-back against Leeds.

The Spaniard is 16/1 to open the scoring and 5/1 to score at anytime.

Backing Chelsea to win by three goals or more would get you decent odds of 7/1.

And sticking Chelsea on your accumulator, with bet365 marking it as a winner if they go two goals ahead.

How likely is the DGW 35? Wondering if it's worth saving FH in 29 if I can field 9 then and 10 in 33 or hope that the DGW happens.

FFS was actively encouraging us to gamble on Football Index and just look what happened there! Has FFS commented on this yet? I haven't been on the sites for a few days.

      Well it's not FFS fault.

But they haven't even acknowledged that anything is going on. There's still promotional articles for FI on the site.

FFS is a community not a large corporation. I'm sure they will in time, relax.

It's just a bit disappointing that even after FI's first "crash", FFS didn't take a collective step back, publicly, and say anything like a lot of other sites affiliated with them did. Replying to one tweet in a 9 tweet thread to say you're "putting your relationship on hold" with them isn't great. It's almost saying let's see how this plays out before we cut any potential revenue, rather than do the right moral thing and publicly distance yourself from an organisation who have done a lot of damage to people.

Sorry, but no. It USED to be a community but that has long since gone. It is now a commercial enterprise plain and simple. Welcome to the new game, whose name is monetisation.

As a result, the quality of advice, articles and research that used to be available free of charge from top managers who were part of the community has been lost. It has been replaced by the occasional article by 'experts' no-one has ever heard of whose only interest in FFS is the fees and the exposure and who do their FPLing on twitter or elsewhere. Their bland articles are mostly hidden behind the paywall anyway.

FFS has very little to recommend it any more. A shame but that's the truth of it.

As for footballindex, well, how dumb do you need to be? Read the t's & c's. FFS won't do it for you and doesn't care what happens to your money either.

Yeah it's a bit shameless this. They replied to one tweet after a guy hammered then for a few days but then went silent when other people called them out. Who's actually in charge of FFS? They're taking the piss a bit not addressing anything.

    3. #Swish41
      • 15 Years

Excellent point. I suspect money overrides moral responsibility as usual...although I do appreciate FFS is clearly not responsible for the crash and people make their own choices (if I encouraged you to jump off a cliff etc etc)

      1. Totalfootball

Thing is anything FFS promotes has a direct impact on the people coz we associate FFS with all the right things and credibility .

Agreed. Tricky as while anything is doing well it’s a good move until it crashes. I do think FFS need to acknowledge what has happened and whether they did any diligence on the index before promoting it. Glad I never invested (was never tempted tbh)

Really interesting replies. As Joe states on Scoutcast "It's worth noting that we are a partner with Football Index..." Surely as a 'partner', you have a responsibility to comment to your paying members on this site and not just 1 tweet, as some people, myself included don't use twitter.

More about quality than quantity..... I would take Kane and a Brighton Def, Dunk if you can afford, Veltman if you cannot and you will be G2G...

Thats 7, could even take a -4 and throw in one more to make it 8.

Where can I improve? Considering Cancelo -> Azpi. Plan is to free hit in gw29 so I will be using my 1ft this week.

    Martinez
    Rüdiger Digne Konsa
    KDB Bruno Son Mount Gundo
    Kane DCL

    Fabri; Cancelo(?), Burn, Brewster

    1. CapK
      • 4 Years

You have great bench cover if your playing 3 at the back (burn + 1 more def on the bench) so I would take a punt on alonso personally - he is so so so good going forward....

    2. Moderately content penguin
      • 6 Years
      4 years, 9 months ago

Both KdB and Gundo going again seems iffy and I wouldn't be punting on Brighton defence at all right now. Southampton are scoring goals.

Azpi or, as suggested, Alonso for fun could be good.

Might even go 4-5-1 if you have trust issues with DCL.

    Funny captain choice this week.

    - Kane (knock? Loves scoring in NLD and form)
    - Salah (fixture but no form)
    - KDB (rotation risk, decent Fulham defence...but still Fulham)
    - Bruno (seems to be involved in every goal, but tough fixture)

...currently on Kane, but Bruno is nagging.

Risky of course, But if you take the run of the next 3/4 fixtures it could add up. You might need to spend the extra mill or so well though to take advantage.

28 Spurs don't keep cs really
29 should play for 2 pointer but might be benched
30 Liverpool away is a good fixture right now - not a red one at all
      31 Much better fixture

And current form defo points the way of Auba.

Would selling Bruno for Bale, then buying him back at -0.3 be worth it (for GW29)?

    Thoughts here?

    Martinez (Meslier)
    Dias Cancelo Digne (Holding Cresswell)
    KDB Son Saka Raphinha (Lingard)
    DCL Kane(C) Watkins

    1.4 ITB 1FT.

Cancelo out maybe? For who though? Or is he going to play after the rest on Wednesday?

    Morning all,

Not sure which strategy is best, I'm very narrowly leading my ML and being clawed back each gw. I still have WC and FH, I have 1FT and 1.4 ITB:

    Martinez (Areola)
    Stones Shaw Coufal Dallas (Taylor)
    Salah Bruno Son Gundo (Lingard)
    Cavani Bamford (Ings)

Currently will only have 6 players for gw29.

    Should I:
    A. Transfer Ings and Cavani to gw29 players and go with 8 playing
    B. FH in gw29
    C. WC now and FH29
    D. Something else

    Appreciate any responses and suggestions

You’re fine. Just transfer Ings/Cavani to Antonio/Watkins. BGW gives you another transfer.

Appreciate the reply, even with the slight knock I'm thinking I need to bring Kane in and if I get rid of Cavani and Ings and I can bring in Kane and Maja?

      Martinez

Palace have blanked at home a fair bit but nearly all of those have been driven by absence of Zaha. WBA will be pushing for a win and very conceivable they get sucker punched. Despite everything they are not among the most toothless attacks this season.

Prior to that game Kdb had a ppg of 5.78 salah at 7.02

        After that game

        Kdb 6.18 Salah 6.83

But either way you’d have to side with Kdb over individual performance and team performance

It really all comes down to whether KdB really has rediscovered his goal scoring mojo. Loads of assists this season but hasn't threatened goal much at all.

In his favour is that City are now scoring much more goals than in weeks 1-18.

Clear sense to me in that while he's so hot.

There's a move from Bale to KdB in 31(if funds allow) and provided Spurs don't double immediately after in 32. If Spurs do double in 32 then it all becomes a bit complex given 33 blanks and Spurs fixtures in 34/35.

But all said and done that's a way off yet and go for immediate points.

    C) pick stones salah -4 to martienz fofana kdb, gw29 FH
    D) lowton to briton def., Gw29 dcl salah pickford -4 to antonio bale martinez, hold FH for later

D then but I'd possibly go Konsa over Brighton.

Villa have the fixture both in 28 and 30 (potential DGW again) and awkward fact is Brighton aren't keeping cs. I wouldn't back one this week against Southampton anyway.

I'd be really wary of losing Pickford. Good chance Everton double in GW30. Who's the other keeper?

I'd also think twice about Martinez as the one to bring in given fixture turn. Villa have not performed at all against top 8 this season.
