International Football

Which FPL players are on international duty and when ahead of Gameweek 30?

The final international break of the season gets underway on Wednesday, with not far off 200 Premier League players in action for their homelands over the next week.

Some national sides are cramming in a triple-header of games over this period and, as was the case in the autumn, a handful of Fantasy assets will be taking part in all three of their respective countries’ matches.

Others won’t be featuring at all. The scheduled World Cup qualifiers in South America have been cancelled due to the tightening of lockdown and quarantine regulations on the continent, which would have made life difficult for Europe-based players.

That means welcome two-week breathers for the likes of Richarlison (£8.0m), Alisson (£5.9m), Ederson (£6.1m), Gabriel Jesus (£9.2m) and Emiliano Martinez (£5.4m).

The FPL Eye Test - Gameweek 3 2

As for the other nations on the UK government’s red list, most of them are in Africa. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.5m) and Naby Keita (£5.2m) are among the Premier League players whose countries face a fixture against a ‘red list’ opponent over the next fortnight but their respective clubs have prevented them from featuring in such matches, so there should be little concern over a subsequent spell in quarantine – unless anyone comes down with COVID-19, of course.

Aubameyang, for example, will only be available for Gabon’s home fixture against DR Congo on Thursday, due to travel restrictions relating to his country’s opponents next Tuesday, Angola.

Portugal had been on the red list but that is no longer the case – and in any event, their ‘home’ match against Azerbaijan on Wednesday is being held in Italy.

The rest of this article is dedicated to a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their Premier League sides over the next week, also detailing the dates on which these players will be competing for their countries.

Any early moves for the below assets in Fantasy Premier League need to be considered very carefully, given the risk of injury or fatigue that tends to accompany these international breaks.

Just looking at FPL Review for the first time.

For captaincy, I have 360 points, whereas according to Implied Odds I should have 455, and according to Massive Data I should have 440. Anyone else have this large a difference?

So long before the days of LiveFPL, who remembers the BAPS guy ?

The most frequent post after every match was “Has the BAPS guy been along yet ?” as we waited to be updated on the BPS scores.

Ditto to what Baron said above. I'd forgotten about those posts, only vaguely remember them still though. Can't remember what the point was. They were calculating the BPS before it was publicly known right?

Yeah there were no tools like there are now to see BPS as they happen for us some the BAPS guy used to go after the match and calculate them for us all.

At the end of every match there was a constant stream of posts “Has the BAPS guy been yet”.

How many of your team are you expecting to be injured or quarantining from Covid after the IB. There’s a stack of matches. I reckon all these WC drafts will need a review in a weeks time

Hi there. Have people resorted to telling jokes yet?

A man takes his seat at the World Cup Final. He looks to his left and notices that there is a spare seat between himself and the next guy.

The man: “Who would ever miss the World Cup final?”

The guy: “That was my wife’s seat. We have been to the last five World Cup finals together, but sadly she passed away.”

The man: “That’s terrible, but couldn’t you get another member of the family, friend, or someone else to come with you?”

The guy: “No…they are all at the funeral!

Just noticed something funny (well not really).
My highest GW rank this season was GW 1- 151k.
No other GW ranks inside 200k.

Current OR is 32k. Need a few huge GW's rankwise to get to 10k or 5k.
Thinking I will be going for some differential captains to finish the season off and won't be too disappointed if it doesn't work.

    Martinez

    Kane, DCL, Watkins

Sanchez, Stones, Vestergaard Pereira 1FT 2.1ITB

    Martinez
    Dallas | Struijk | Targett
    Bruno | Bale | Son | Lingard
    Kane | Bamford | DCL

    Forster | Auba | Mee | Veltman

    1FT, 0ITB, WC, BB, FH

If all fit, which is the best?

    A. Save FT and play this XI
    B. Mee => Rudiger and BB
    C. Other option

Would personally wait and see how likely it would be for Struijk, Forster and Son to all start before committing to a BB, although depends on your WC strategy, if you're going to WC very soon and have a real cheap bench with some non starters then you may have to go B by default

So planning to WC in gw 31 and looking to target top 4 contenders and relegation battlers. Who is worth consideration from below?
Chelsea-Ziyech, Mount, Rudiger, Alonso(But who is nailed?)
    Manutd- Shaw Bruno
    Leicester- Iheanacho
    Tottenham- Son, Kane, Tot def
Liverpool- Jota Salah ,Liv def if budget remains
    Westham- Lingard, Antonio, Cresswell

    Fulham-Lookman, Cavaleiro
    NewC- No comments
Really looking to keep just 2 Mcity in Gundongen and 1 defender as title will be wrapped by gw34 mathematically. Any input will be appreciated

Chelsea - Azpi and Rudiger. Alonso is also ok if you are fine with odd benchings. No standout pick from their attack. Some are considering Havertz.

Man Utd - Shaw and Bruno

      Leicester - Iheanacho, Vardy, Maddison/Barnes, Fofana/Kasper

Tottenham _ Kane and Son. Moura is also playing well

Liverpool - Usual suspects. Salah, Jota, Mane, Trent

      West Ham - LAC

Fulham - Lookman and one of their defenders/Areola

      Brighton - Trossard

Let me try break it down through my perspective
Chelsea - Seems like the only nailed defender is Azpi, he is a good guaranteed source of points, Alonso is the risk but if your bench is good enough he can be covered, if you took a risk on Cancelo it would be similar with Alonso, Rudiger is a great option for his price but how will Thiago Silvas return change the defense?
United - Bruno = pretty straight forward, Shaw, I find their fixtures to be 50-50 but for his attacking returns and cheap price he's worth a look if there's a spot
Leicester - Surprised you didn't add Barnes/Madd to the list as they should be about back and once they are who knows what role Iheanacho will have left
Spurs - Kane seems a must, Son good if they have a double GW soon, if not I would probably lose him on my WC. Don't trust their defenders due to rotation
Liverpool - All depends on budget, will look at 2 out of TAA/Salah/Jota/cheap CB, good fixtures but poor form with CL worried
WH- Similar with United re fixtures, all depends on whether you can fit them in, would say you need at least 1 in your side possibly 2. Looking at Lingard and Antonio myself but midfield options are a minefield, may not be able to fit both
City are hit or miss with rotation but are of course the best team still, keeping at least 1 defender and maybe Gundo is a good option. Also keep an eye out for Wolves players due to fixtures, although they have little to play for. Sorry for long write-up but hope this helps a little

      Newcastle = Wilson

There's a bit of history in picking an attacker from a relegation threatened side and he's the class of that field by a long distance.

Trouble with Vardy - apart from complete absence of goals - is where do you go from him? Mane is a straightforward swap in and out of KdB Mo.

Not that convinced about how nailed Vardy is now. Can see Leicester mixing and matching when their mids are back. Not sure on time frame of Barnes. Could he be back in 33?

By rights Vardy should be a great call and has huge upside. There's a gamble involved of course but if he does get his mojo back then the putative -4 could easily pay.

There's also a decent chance that Leicester gets a DGW no? Perhaps in 35 where their scheduled fixture is Newcastle.

Arsenal assts worth considering on WC31?
Fixtures look great, downside is europa involvement and motivation in the Lge I guess.
But nonetheless shu FUL new WBA in their first 5 fix from GW 31 is a potential goldmine

Tierney looks like a fantastic defensive option, Auba is a great captain shout for 31 vs shu and Saka could be great when he plays but does carry a rotation risk.

    3. pingissimus
      • 5 Years

      I'm ignoring them

Arsenal defence has a Spurs-y look about it. Theoretically decent on stats but very error prone and general lack of clean sheets. Auba and Laca I suspect - and have Arsenal fan confirmation of this - will likely continue to rotate. Big gamble on landing on right one in 31.

Saka the one option I might go for. The bonus with him is that he almost never gets subbed on for a cameo and like Gundo is cheap enough to bench for a strong "12th man".

    4. nolard

Saka, but there are options, like Neto or Jota if you don't have Salah/Mané.

Everyone seems to be targeting Chelsea defence but are people overlooking United as an option

Shaw gets regular name checks but both AWB and Maguire are right up there. Despite the City cs run they match almost exactly Cancelo and Dias and were decently ahead of all Chelsea defence despite their cs run. Azpi for example hasn't for example really outperformed AWB since GW21

    Azpi = 59 points
    AWB = 56 points

The fixtures look less good on the face of it but United have done as well if not better in red fixtures - loads of 0-0 type results. Both AWB and Maguire are uber nailed and it's not a stretch to imagine that come the run in United will tighten up further to lock down 2nd/3rd.

Contemplating swerving Chelsea altogether here - apart from maybe Mendy if I decide I need to move Ederson cash upfield.

On reflection I'm not sure how well I really did from double City defence - the only real pay off was the goals from Stones and the one from Dias. The Stones goals in particular feel a little flukey - there is an insane XG there.

I suppose people may be targeting Southampton already anyway but history suggests that a cup semi final for a mid ranked team is a death knell to their PL performances.
