Scout Network

How many Spurs assets are the Scout Network considering for DGW32?

Fantasy Premier League managers are eyeing up Spurs assets this week as they are the only team to play twice in Double Gameweek 32.

José Mourinho’s men are joint-second among Premier League teams for scoring the most first goals in games, while they are worst in the division for number of goals conceded in the last 10 minutes.

What impact will that have on how we invest in their assets this week? We asked the Scout Network what they think…

FPL Experiment

How Spurs' FPL assets fared in their final match before Double Gameweek 32 7

Both Harry Kane (£11.7m) and Son Heung-min (£9.4m) will be in our team for Double Gameweek 32. Rotation is definitely a concern, with EFL Cup final on the horizon but Mourinho isn’t exactly blessed with a squad that allows him to rest his best players. And with Europa League qualification at risk, the simple fact is Tottenham need to win their league games, so I cannot see Son getting dropped, especially against  a side he scored four against earlier in the season.

We won’t be going anywhere near the Spurs defence. Bizarrely, given that it’s a Mourinho team, this is the worst side for expected goals conceded in the last two games and one of those was against an injury ravaged Newcastle outfit.

FPL Experiment

FF Titans

Spurs’ Double Gameweek 32 fixtures genuinely create a headache for FPL managers. There is temptation to triple-up Spurs assets but they will immediately have a Blank Gameweek 33 afterwards. That said, their run-in is respectable, with home games against Sheffield United, Wolves and Aston Villa to come.

Son and Kane are key for Double Gameweek 32, if managers want to triple-up then Lucas Moura (£6.6m) has started the last six games and has contributed three assists in his last four.

FF Titans

Fantasy Chat

Having Son Heung-Min (£9.4m) and Harry Kane (£11.7m) is as essential as it can get if you can afford to bench them in Gameweek 33 as their fixtures continue to be strong beyond that.

Personally I wouldn’t consider any other options given their blank in Gameweek 33 and the fact that many FPL managers still hold Manchester City assets in our squads and they also blank in Gameweek 33. Given Spurs’ poor defensive form and the amount of rotation in their backline, I wouldn’t look at any options in defence. Other options in attack are limited but Lucas Moura (£6.6m) who is in fine form is your best bet aside from Son and Kane. The season defining League Cup Final a few days after the Southampton game could mean rotation so managers should tread with caution.

Fantasy Chat – Kareem

El Statto

How Spurs' FPL assets fared in their final match before Double Gameweek 32 5

I’m going into the Spurs double with Son and Kane. I’m not too sure there is much value in going with a third attacker. Hugo Lloris (£5.6m) is the safest option in defence due to Mourinho’s rotation, especially with centre-backs, but playing Everton and Southampton I can see both scoring so gains could be minimal.

El Statto

FPL Nymfria

Heading into a Double Gameweek it’s always a good time to remind ourselves that this season, not many Double Gameweek players have delivered as promised. With that in mind, I think just owning one or at the most two Spurs assets will be enough.

I wouldn’t look much outside of Son and Kane, but if at this stage you want to have fun with it and add to them, then Moura, with his three assist in the last four Gameweeks, could be a nice differential.

FPL Nymfria

FPL Froggies

If your are chasing in your mini-leagues take a risk and go for three Spurs players. But it is worth considering that, you will probably have to take a minus-four in Blank Gameweek 33 to replace two of Spurs in their blank. For me I’ll be sticking with just Son and Kane.

If you are looking for a third then I would be avoiding the defence as they just aren’t keeping clean sheets, however if you have one I would hold. Moura seems to have the biggest potential, but Tanguy Ndombélé (£5.9m) would make a great differential pick.

Scout Network: Thinking ahead to the blank and double Gameweek in 18 and 19

Last week Sam from FPLFamily was joined on Scout The Gameweek by Grayham from FPL Focus. They looked back on Gameweek 30 and ahead to Gameweek 31. Next week Sam is joined by Pete and Dubs from FPL Side Net to review Gameweek 31 and look ahead to Gameweek 32.

FPL Nymfria – released her Gameweek Preview looking at her Wildcard options for Gameweek 31. She also shone a spotlight on some of the players picks to consider in the coming Gameweeks which you can watch here.

El Statto – The weekly Wildcard feature over on the Jumpers For Goalposts website has been proving really popular, as has their differential picks article. These two features have been really helpful for the community, as they deal with the key talking points of the FPL game.

FF Titans – Ahead of Matchday 10 in the UCL Fantasy game FF Titans have been focusing on differential and captain picks, with one eye especially on players who are more likely to progress to Matchday 11.

Here's the argument for Son TC. It's not a pie in the sky let's gamble call at all

Look at the comparative scores for Kane and Son when they have both been fit since Kane got back. Food for thought. Son has outperformed Kane more often than not 🙂

    23: Son better 10 points to 8
    24 2 points each
    25 2 points each
    26 Son better 14 points to 8
    27 Kane better 19 points to 5
    31 Son better 7 points to 2

Arguably the most relevant weeks there are 23 and 31 as it seems unlikely we're going to see the dynamic of weeks 26 and 27 repeated given no Bale.

Nothing much in it and hasn't been all season

By this logic, there isn't too much upside to be had TCing Son then :).

Kane's the safe bet, Don's the riskier one. Depends on your ML position which you go for

Oh like Karan I'm way off anything 🙂

There's a decent upside if weeks 31 or 26 repeat.

TC is a differential play anyway as only 25% have it to play and 21 points over 4/6 or 42 over 24/16 are both handy advantages.

Head says Kane, heart says Son :).

I'm leading my ML and the only one with TC left, so I'll be going boring with Kane.

            Or will I...

Both teams sit back which suits Kane. Plus he wants the golden boot and is on pens! So Kane TC for me!

Since when do Southampton sit back? Not sure really that it matters what Southampton do for that matter. They manage to defy XGC in all the worst possible ways. Their cup semi is quite as relevant as the Spurs one and I can't believe it improves them.

Kane is the safe play of course if you play EO but really not sure that there is much in it. This is close to Mane Salah territory from seasons past. Different dynamic between them but the end results is sufficiently close.

Southampton press high. They are a total shambles and in the reverse fixture, it was Son who exploited the mental amount of space in behind.

I'd be inclined to move Son depending on your set as there are some very likely mids in 33 who have more upside than getting a 6 pointer defender in. If I went that way it'd be Dunk for possibility of upside.

Fair call when you look at 33 fixture. Dangerous of course when you look at 32 fixture 🙂

The ones I'd consider out most are Salah/Jota for a Hokey Cokey to hit Newcastle twice as opposed to getting Leeds this week and Chelsea next if you want him next time. Looked like that I think it adds up if you can bring yourself to do the moves.

      1. Pukki Blinders

Can’t see much benefit in a hokey cokey tbf... Leeds is a good fixture for Pool I think. Worst case scenario I bring him in for Burnley in 34

It's not a bad fixture but I'd rate the Newcastle one much better - though that said Newcastle are clearly going to retreat into back 5 all out defence mode given their 6 point advantage and so may be harder to break down.

With Wilson and ASM back and off a win v Burnley I think Newcastle will head in with plenty of confidence. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them beat WHU with no Rice.

Lingard deflection goal is imminent though...

Money shmoney. Man Utd, City, Liverpool, Arsenal and others have also spent big bucks over the years and yet Chelsea is the one that cops the crap about it. Sure, the money has transformed the club but the successes we have had on the field in the modern era have not been matched by others. We have a winning culture embedded throughout our entire set-up:

        League x 5: 2005, 2006, 2010, 2015, 2017
        Champions League: 2012
        Europa League x 2: 2013, 2019
        UEFA Cup Winners Cup: 1998
        FA Cup x 7: 1997, 2000, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2018
        League Cup x 4: 1998, 2005, 2007, 2015
        UEFA Super Cup: 1998
        Charity Shield x 3: 2000, 2005, 2009

        Then there's women:

        League x 4: 2015, 2017, 2018, 2020
        FA Cup x 2: 2015, 2018
        League Cup x 2: 2020, 2021
        Community Shield: 2020

        Then there's the youth:

        FA Cup x 7: 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
        UEFA Youth League x 2: 2015, 2016

        Just saying.

A lot if you think about it. The money that has been pumped into the club hasn't been just on marquee players for the men's team. It's gone into getting the set-up right including the academy to produce players, training facilities, and women's structure. And with that the on-field successes have followed growing the Chelsea brand.

Also, we won the UEFA cup winners cup in 1971 and 1997 prior to Abramovic. FA Cup x 3, League Cup x 2, League once in 1955. Yes, the money has transformed the club but the money that has been spent has returned success on the pitch ie a good return on investment. Chelsea is worth bucket loads more than it was when Abramovic bought it.

Possibly. Sounds familiar but don't recall. Along with that one pound comes hundreds of millions in debt though (or whatever it was) so the £1 is a symbolic amount as there needs to be a tangible amount in any corporate transaction. It's about the taking on the debts.

It was a similar story with Abramovic if I remember right. Chelsea was going bust if it wasn't for Abramovic and a famous Jasper Gronkjaer goal that got us into the champions league in the season before:

Yep he was going to buy spurs instead. Spurs would have a lot more fans if he had bought them.

    Rudiger/ / Saiss / TAA

How many cs do people see for Brighton?

Wondering whether one upside that non WC teams have might be the holding onto Brighton defence and not just Dallas - I'm still smarting from watching ML teams get Dunk and not just Dallas in from DCL no show.

Brighton defensive fixtures aren't great but their defence is decently better than Arsenal's and there are enough positive fixtures (SHU and Wolves) for them to rack up a few cs here on in. It wouldn't;t exactly surprise it they got another one or two to add to those two.

Dunk to outperform Coady and Holding? I can see it happening.

Suspect there's at least one more in there

It is a strong defence and can hold off any team. Chelsea this week could happen for example with their fixture overload and - until Palace - fairly barren attack. I've gone Coady but now doubting it a bit. Very happy to skirt Arsenal here. Not sure SHU is a guide to anything

I think the price of the likes of Sanchez and Veltman is kind since they are a reasonable defence. When you watch them, they do not concede that many chances - the reason they're down at the bottom is because their forwards are terrible.

GW35 could be a big DGW if as expected the GW36 and 37 fixtures are revered. See Ben Crellin twitter page.

        As expected by who, though?

Do you realise that it's likely to be a matter not of when the fixtures are but something as arcane as how FPL moves the GW deadlines. A big DGW35 is by no means set in stone, it could just as easily be a small one (4 teams) with no BGW in GW36.

Don't see Ben Crellin twitter page. Think it through for yourself.

Morning all. Depending on DCL fitness and Gundog minutes played I might still do my BB this week since my defence are all strong fixtures. So how do I get Son?

    A. Salah >> Son (reverse it the week after)
    B. Bruno >> Son (reverse it the week after with a hit!)

    Mendy
    TAA. Rudiger. Holding
    Salah. Bruno. Lingard. Jota. Gundog
    Kane. Iheanacho
    (Forster, DCL, Coady, Shaw)

Wouldn't do either IMO. I'd either stick and save the FT, or get rid of DCL if you can play a third striker instead (perhaps instead of Gundo)

How does this look chaps? Got a few questions...

    Mendy
    Rudiger - Dias - Digne*
    Son - Lingard - Saka - Bruno - Gundo*
    Kane (C / TC) - Ings*

Bench: Watkins - Dallas - Targett

    Pondering these moves:

    A) Digne -> Wolves DEF (Semedo/Coady/Saiss)
    B) Gundo -> Maddison
    C) Ings -> Vardy

    Possibly a combination of A & B or A & C.
Digne potential DGW got me hesitating.

    What would you suggest?

Must be mad to be considering old man Vardy. His days are done. Ings to Laca or Cavani for me

Possible that Maddison will improve him of course.

But the problem with that analysis is the comparatively high negative XG Vardy has had this season from open play. He has a very poor record for putting away big chances. This is new territory for him - historically he has defied XG the other way around,

Wildcard team (still have BB to play)

    Martinez Forster
    TAA Shaw Holding X Y
    Salah Bruno Lingard Jota Son
    Kane Nacho Vydra

What should X and Y be? (8,9m in bank)

    A. Coufal/Dier and Diop
    B. Rudiger and Struijk (+0,2m in bank)
    C. Something else

B sounds stronger but A more appealing with BB to play as Struijk could lose his place when Cooper is back. Thoughts?

      B?

But it isn't a great spot to be in 🙂 What happens in 33 if you do go B? Lingard in that week feels a bit of reach given Chelsea. I wouldn't really want to lose Son then given 34. Thinking the optimal solution in your shoes might just be

      Son in 32
      Maddison in 33?
Son plus Lingard - or maybe just hold Maddison if he's hot - in 34. Holding Maddison would maximise your attack against SHU and Southampton who are the tow teams to go after imo.

(Mixed feeling about having got TAA last week. Felt like I fluked it. But it's the sort of thing he does I guess.)
