Captain Sensible

Who is the best FPL captain for Triple Gameweek 35?

The Gameweek 35 captaincy has completely turned on its head now that we are planning for an unprecedented Triple Gameweek.

Manchester United play Aston Villa (away), Leicester (home) and Liverpool (home) between now and Thursday, thrusting Bruno Fernandes (£11.5m) back into the limelight once more.

Still, there are concerns about how many Red Devils will actually play three times, which means it is still worth considering some of the Double Gameweek options on offer from other clubs.

As always, the Captain Sensible article is here to answer your captaincy questions and a whole lot more. In order to help you settle your conundrums, we analyse extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, which is why only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

Unsurprisingly, Manchester United’s Portuguese midfielder has dominated the vote, having gained nearly 60.0% of votes since we reset the poll in the wake of Wednesday’s groundbreaking announcement.

Behind him sit Leicester City’s in-form Kelechi Iheanacho (9.8%) and colleague Mason Greenwood (7.0%).

The top-five list is completed by Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) and Marcus Rashford (5.7% and 2.8% of total votes, respectively)

In order to tackle this week’s captaincy debate effectively, where only certain teams play more than once, we will focus on those clubs and their assets separately.

Those on triple United with 2 attackers & 1 defenders, not worried about lack of goals against the big 6? Throw in rotation too, Leaning towards double defence

I can see at least 1 or even 2 CSs from the 3 fixtures, 2 if they keep out Villa. Because with such a short turnaround, attacks are affected, we saw this even last season, United were eking out 1-0 wins

Yes that’s my thinking so I guess it all depends if maguire can get a assist or goal in those 3 games which I guess could happen but I already have shaw so still leaning towards greenwood

I just don't see this as a real triple game week - more a double. And with Leicester and Liverpool in there I'm agreeing with the low scoring thing.

    Play holding or lingard?

    Mendy
    TAA shaw castagne
    Salah Bruno greenwood jota lingard
    Nacho dcl
    (forster holding vydra veltman)

I came to a similar conclusion and thinking Kane to Richarlison. Sheffield United next week look ripe for another demolition and Everton get a double.

    2ft are pretty set now
Alonso > Ward (need the money)
    Vydra > DCL

    Keeps enough money for Nacho > Antonio next week and gives me this;

    Mendy
    TAA, Ward, Fofana (Rudiger, Holding)
Bruno (c), Salah, Jota, J-Rod (Lingard - if J-Rod is injured I'll happily play Lingard)
    Kane, Nacho, DCL

Leaves only Kane (and maybe Lingard) as singles.

    Thoughts on defense order?

Got a headache thinking about this week... gone through so many variations of moves.

But I think I'm going to take -4 with my 2FTs this week and another -4 next week to field 10.

    Moves this week:
    A) Son + Welbeck + Rudiger > Greenwood + DCL + Maguire (-4)
    B) Kane + Rudiger + Masuaku > DCL + Maguire + Digne (-4, extra player for 36)

Which do you prefer? I think I prefer A, though RMT favours B.

    Currently 2FT 0.6ITB
    Mendy
    TAA Rudiger Holding
    Salah Bruno Son Jota
    Kane Iheanacho Welbeck

    Forster Lingard Coady Masuaku

    Thanks!

    Doing it

Benteke in. Over the last 6 he's looked fairly sharp and his stats compare nicely with generic Vardy: shots in box, shots on target etc. Fewer big chances balanced out by the fact that he's scored more and has SHU.

    Time for some fun.

But not for goals scored and I pick players to score goals and not have good XG. If I did that I'd get Vardy - the player with the worst XG delta in the league and just one more open play goal all season than Benteke despite playing waaaaay more minutes 😉

      Ignore Vardy

His record for scoring from open play is foul this season and only one good fixture. I'd think about going 4 at the back perhaps with Robbo.

Rashford has been matching Bruno for quite a while and is the 4th highest scoring mid in the game. Both will likely start two.

      Auba is an option.

It's a big risk but it really depends on the full context of what the alternative is.

you might get away with it, his form has been wretched in the league over the past few weeks anyway

    A) Kane, Lingard, Veltman > DCL, Bruno, Maguire (-8)
    B) Kane, Lingard, Veltman > DCL, Bruno, Shaw (-8)
    C) Kane, Mount, Veltman > DCL, Bruno, Maguire (-8)
    D) Kane, Mount, Veltman > DCL, Bruno, Shaw (-8)
    E) Kane, Lingard > DCL, Bruno (-4)
    F) Kane, Mount > DCL, Bruno (-4)

My logic has gone. Help appreciated.

Will you need Lingard for GW36? And who plays in defence if you do E or F?
