The best Leeds players for the end of the FPL season

Leeds have come through a series of difficult fixtures in the last few weeks but their fixtures take a significant swing for the better from Gameweek 36 onwards.

After an impressive win over Spurs on Saturday, their assets have become prime targets for the run in, especially as it coincides with a return to fitness of some key individuals.

We asked the Scout Network for their thoughts on the best Leeds picks for the last three Gameweek’s of the season.

FPL Nymfria

With so many mid-priced strikers available to us for the last three Gameweeks, Patrick Bamford (£6.3m) may go under the radar. However, a goal against Spurs may just have boosted his confidence, and his post-match interview suggested he was keen to get as many goals as he can before the season ends.

Raphinia (£5.4m) is also back from injury and chipping in with an assist during his 32-minute cameo, he could be a great budget pick given the last three fixtures for Leeds.

FPL Nymfria

FPL Family

Since selling him on my Wildcard ahead of what on paper looked like a series of tough fixtures, Stuart Dallas (£5.2m) has registered three goals and a clean sheet. With fixtures against Burnley, Southampton and West Brom to end the season there is a good possibility of multiple clean sheets and attacking returns for the defender now playing every minute in midfield. He is returning to my team for Gameweek 36.

Jack Harrison (£5.4m) has really impressed me over the last few Gameweeks. He was fourth for chances created after the first nine games of Gameweek 35. Whilst Harrison hasn’t registered the attacking points that his performances have promised he was incredibly unlucky in Gameweek 35 and could be a great differential for the run-in.

El Statto

Raphinha was welcome sight when he made his return from injury in Gameweek 35, providing an assist too. With six goals and eight assists this season, he offers Leeds something they don’t get from any of their other attacking midfielders. I think he could have a strong finish to the season now he’s back against teams with little to play for

With 10 clean sheets in 34 matches Illan Meslier (£4.7m) has had a great season. While Dallas is the standout defender option due to him being out of position, Meslier is great for save points averaging four saves per game, the second best in league. He is also joint-second, behind Emiliano Martinez (£5.4m), for bonus points among goalkeepers. So Meslier offers plenty of ways to pick up points besides Clean Sheets.

El Statto

FPL Froggies

There is a urban legend that is very believed among French football fans, that because of the low rotation and the very physically demanding play, all Bielsa teams are more tired than the others come April and by May they finish absolutely burned out. With this in mind and with Leeds mid-table with little to fight for, I currently have no Leeds player in my team now.

However, the last four matches, including draws with Manchester United and Liverpool as well as a victory over Spurs, prove that I was wrong, and I will probably re-integrate one player in Gameweek 36.

Dallas, a £5.2m defender playing all of his minutes as a midfielder, cannot be a bad call. But Bamford is my main target. While he does not seem at his best fitness, he is always well positioned on the field, and with Kelechi Inehanacho (£6.3m) offering no fixture in Gameweek 36, he is a great third striker or even a second one for your teams.

Yes put the second team out against Leicester, then the first team out against Pool in an attempt to all but end their CL hopes.

Anyone with more insight like to share their thoughts on Bamford vs Antonio for the run-in?

I think Hammers will push hard, and Antonio looks sharp in front of goal. Leeds not that much to play for, but should try and cap off a wonderful season...

I don't think home and away matters as such. They are unbeaten at home to the big 6 and so Burnley should be relatively easier to game to win and keep a clean sheet.

Is no one really looking at Wood over Antonio and Bamford?

His form very nearly matches Nacho over a long long run now. Also if you check home away form Leeds defence is Jekyll and Hyde - away they have conceded as many goals as any team out there - it's the home defensive form you avoid.

A bit boring for my liking. Burnley safe now performances might dip.
He's a good option no doubt but I just feel Antonio & Bamford play for teams that will create more chances for them to score and have slightly better fixtures.

People are confusing Burnley with Burnley 🙂

Since GW27 they have had as many shots in the box as Leeds and only just behind WH. Wood is scoring goals because he's getting huge amounts of chances.

      Wood: Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield
      Antonio: Brighton, West Brom, Southampton

      I would say similar FD.

Antonio can be more explosive. Plays in a better team. And the team is playing for much more.

That tilts it towards Antonio for me.

Have had him for the past month and he's going nowhere...has registered points in every game other than Man Utd since he came into my team, and he was a bit unlucky there. Home to Leeds and last game at Sheff Utd could both be decent scores - could even nick something against Liverpool. And he is still low ownership, so you tend to jump up the ranks when he does well.

Given the Spurs performance against Leeds is a Kane Son /Bale double up merited?

Take it as a punt, might end with 2pts or could be hauls. Double up is fine imo.

What effect do people see crowds having in 37 and 38?

One issue I see is that is rather negates the idea of only focussing on teams with something to play for - a slightly dubious concept anyway in my book as it presupposes pressure to perform is a good thing. Is it possible that crowds will incentivise all teams and players to put on a show perhaps and/or add to traditional home advantage.

I think we could see some bonkers unpredictable results, like early season. Will be hard to predict not only with the fans but in terms of who has what to play for

I reckon more goals for home teams, more attacking play egged on by fans, which in turn will mean more spaces for away teams to counter.

Counter-attacking away sides and talismanic attackers for home sides will do well.

Ok 2nd post after it was decided to go for WC this week, how's this draft looking? who am I missing?

      Forster / Mendy
      TAA / Digne / Coufal / Dallas / Stones
      Raphinha / Salah / Lingard / Bale / Jota
      Kane / DCL / Bamford

Only concerns are not having any United, not having Antonio and having Stones...

If it were me I would downgrade Kane to Antonio and slot Bruno in for Jota. You have good cover for Stones so wouldn't worry about him too much.

Seems an odd GK combo with some chance that both could miss out.

Not a fan of the Leeds attacking double up personally and curious about how you bench. Is BB still in play?

You can attack SHU in 36 but what about 37 and 38? I'd make room for either Wilson or Wood - both of whom have form.

Yeah I'm not too keen on GK choice. I haven't had Mendy all season - I'll rethink that one

Leeds fixtures have got me hooked though that's why I doubled on them. Maybe Bamford & Dallas will do

You're probably right regarding Wilson & Wood as well

Generally I just think the one big plus of WC this late is that you can get 11 this week which puts you way ahead go the game and also plan for 37/38 another plus.

Leeds are an okay call of course but can't see anyone else being able to get Wilson for SHU and Fulham right now without using/wasting an FT. Going Wilson may not work out of course but it's the upside call imo of WC now. Go Bamford and you're simply matching those on FTs.

Thoughts on Bruno and Maguire to Mané and Dallas -4?

      Martinez
      Dallas Burn Trent
      Siggy Zaha Salah Mané Raphinha
      Bamford Kane

      Areola Azpi Kelechi Rudiger

Thing with Bruno I don’t think he starts Wolves - rather get Mané (or someone else) who will have 3 games where Bruno only has 1 most likely. Could get Mason for Zaha for the Fulham game.

        Nice call

My preference is Wilson - more direct goal threat. ASM has got returns this season but end product still not all it could be. Wilson is being wholly ignored for Bamford Antonio - presumably on basis of 36 fixture. He has amazing fixtures in 37/38 and as much if not better form as Antonio Bamford

I have 10 players already for BGW36 including Dallas

      a) Fernandes/Greenwood > Raphinha
      b) Nacho (tough fixtures) > Bamford (easy fixtures, could realistically get 3rd in Golden Boot race)
      c) Both (-4) but that means 12 players and a benching headache so really a waste of a hit.

Then move for Wilson in 37. Better fixtures than Bamford and Newcastle have attacking form nowadays and his personal form at least matches Bamford.
