Four-time top 50 finisher’s team reveal and guide to picking a Sky Fantasy XI

Fantasy Football Scout and Sky Sports Fantasy Football to join forces in 2021/22 1

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to be partnering with Sky Sports Fantasy Football this season – bringing you even more content on the popular, free-to-enter game.

Our resident experts Luke Williams and Niall Murphy have already uploaded a two-part 2021/22 Sky season preview and will be recording every week throughout the season so you get the very best insight and advice.

This week, Niall – who has finished 3rd, 15th, 17th and 42nd in a stellar career – reveals his first draft and strategy to picking a Sky team for the crucial first three Gameweeks of the season, before the Overhaul kicks in.

Pre-Overhaul Strategy

Before we get into the detail of my team, I believe there are a few pretty fundamental principles to picking a successful pre-overhaul team in Sky Fantasy Football:

1.       Forget the rest of the season

With the presence of the Overhaul – which is effectively a forced wildcard after three Gameweeks – remember, you’re only picking a team for the first few games. Even if you like the look of Teemu Pukki at 7.7m or Billy Gilmour at 6.9m, with Norwich rock bottom of the fixture ticker, you’re effectively gambling on them to score goals and dominate the ball against Liverpool, Manchester City and Leicester City. I’ll leave you to price that up with your local bookie, but it’s a punt that I’ll not be touching with a bargepole. My advice would be to avoid teams like Norwich, Leeds, Wolves and Burnley until after the Overhaul, with some exceptions, such as a cheap goalkeeper or even Raphinha (8.3m).

On the flip side, Aston Villa, Brighton, Liverpool, Manchester United and Leicester lead the way at the other end of the fixture ticker and all boast proven and good-value Sky assets.  What’s not to like?

2.       Captains are king… And one of them is probably Egyptian

Of arguably more importance in Sky than the difficulty of fixtures, is the way they fall within the Gameweek. Looking at the matches, Liverpool, Manchester United, West Ham/Leicester and Arsenal/Brentford stand out as being either optimal or required assets for early-season captaincies. This is illustrated by the very first game of the season where Thomas Frank’s newly-promoted Brentford take on Arsenal in the only game on Friday night.

Now, neither Arsenal nor Brentford have a stunning set of opening fixtures, coming in at 18th and 9th respectively in the fixture ticker, but you almost certainly want to start the season with one of their players. That’s because you are able to bank double points for simply having an asset on matchday 1 – meaning Arsenal and Brentford have an effective 4-for-3 advantage over other teams. Bruno Fernandes (11.8) and Mohamed Salah (11.9) or another Liverpool asset look favourites for the armband on at least a couple of the early-season matchdays.

3.       Regular starters or bust

Put simply, you only have three Gameweeks to amass points. If there are doubts over a player’s fitness or security of starts after pre-season, at this stage of the campaign, I would encourage you to body swerve. The last thing you want to be doing is picking a player who either misses the first two or three games, leaving you pointless, or who forces your hand to make transfers in Gameweek 1, with only a limited number of weeks to compensate for the use of a transfer.

Of course, injuries happen, and my advice would be to consider each swap early doors on merit. I’ll give you an example. Two seasons ago, Alisson was crocked in the very first game of the season against Norwich. Transferring him out at that stage gave 3 Gameweeks for another goalkeeper to gain enough points to justify a transfer. I assessed that to be worth the move and his replacement, Jordan Pickford, kept two clean sheets out of three. Great. Now, if the injury happened in Gameweek 2, I’d be less inclined to throw a transfer at it, and would barely consider it if in Gameweek 3.

Should we be considering *insert name of player that just scored in a friendly*?

Same every season but always makes me laugh, yes react to new info but 1 friendly goal and the draft is already worth changing

Almost as funny as the idea that people have not only made teams a long time ago but some are almost tinkering with them on a weekly basis.

Imo those choosing players like Mahrez, Jota, Greenwood, Havertz, Chilwell, Cancelo etc are trapping themselves into an early WC

Depends which ones they pick, all quality players and can all deliver if they start regularly. Mahrez is a consideration for me and Jota is in my team (granted I just did one draft ages ago and haven't even bothered touching it since)

True for today. They look like rotators. A bit of unlikely nailed on certainty for a few of them would be nice. But boring and steady goes for now.

              I fully agree.

That said, I do have Mahrez in my team but will most likely transfer him in gw3.

I think 1 of those uncertain starters is enough for a punt but more than 1 is asking for trouble

All of these players mentioned will get minutes. Guaranteed starts maybe not but can still do well regardless. I have none of them currently but can see the appeal.

Just as those who arent choosing any are potentially locking themselves outside top place. Gotta take some risks recognising the potential rewards.

One or two riskier picks are easy to move on with transfers and add a higher score ceiling to your fpl team.

I am adamant on having 3 pool and 3 United to begin. This is where I have currently ended up.

            Sanchez
            Trent, Robertson, Shaw, Tierney
            Salah, Sancho, Buendia, Saka
            Cavani, Watkins

            Steele, Harrison, Reguillon, Davis

Don’t normally play 442 but the rotation with Tierney/Saka and Reguillon/Harrison works pretty nice to begin with. Didn’t like dropping Bruno/Antonio but still think this is strong. What are your thoughts?

I'd do this personally. Both Raphinha and ESR got more points per 90 minutes than their counterparts last year.

Thank you. Per 90 is the worry there though don’t you think? Saka will almost certainly get more minutes than ESR.

1450 minutes from ESR is pretty decent considering his first premier league game last season was on boxing day. I expect him to start regularly, unless Arsenal sign someone like Maddison obviously.

            Harrison vs Raphinha

I was on Raphinha but the 0.5 could be better spent elsewhere if I switch to Harrison. Can anyone tell me why I should or shouldn’t make the switch? Thanks!

It depends where your 0.5 is being spent.

Both players are good value picks though for me Raph is easier on the eye and looks likely to be at the heart of Leeds good moves

                Well… currently thinking

4.5 keeper to Man Utd keeper after a few weeks
                Or
                Walker to Cancelo / Dias

Raph has More assists potential, takes set pieces, gets subbed off a lot less

I’ve gone for both - just don’t think there are better value picks in their price bracket/s and don’t fancy taking a risk on players that didn’t play in the PL last season. Think Raphinha is worth it though - hasn’t delivered it yet, but numbers suggest he could get some big hauls.

For me it's Tierney and Raphinha or Harrison and Shaw.

Both have value but with the fixtures the way they are, there seems that there might be more points in the latter.

            Hi Guys,
Anyone know what is going on with Cavani? Is he due to training?
I like him as a pick but with his age and getting into the groove, if he is not around yet I have my doubts whether he gets in over Greenwood.

Not in training yet. I agree it will be very difficult for him to be up to speed. Man Utd senior players will have barely any preseason so I would be cautious.

                    Agreed.

Bruno maybe justified due to Man Utd's attraction to penalty awarding referees but apart from that, not for me.

How’s it going everyone? Good summer?

Gave myself a fantasy football detox this summer but been keeping an eye on FPL for a couple of weeks now. Nice to be back, until it inevitably all goes wrong!

On the Sanchez injury, with it supposedly being a precautionary substitution yesterday and with Steele coming on, feels OK to keep both as a 4.5 and 4.0 combo? Seems quite solid.

Friendly reminder most of United's actual starting 11 haven't even played a single friendly match yet and as far as I know most have either not yet returned to training or if they did it was within the last week- they have 1 friendly left before they face Leeds

It is so easy to end up with 9 players in away matches GW1. This will impact more this season IMO and can effect a good start and price drops if they don't perform. Toney in particular could create a sell frenzy.

Not seeing a sell frenzy after Arsenal and before Palace myself. There'll be some knee jerking for sure but he's not one of those week 1 picks as a Havertz would be.

One thing I have seen consistently with buying and selling is casuals "following the money". I agree it is not sound to do it but it will happen.

                          Yep could happen I suppose

My guess though that the frenzy will be for a week one hitter and not dumping someone who misses. Given his price point it will be hard to swap Toney into anyone unless Pukki does his thing again,

My bet would be for someone like Watkins to be dumped massively for another 7.5. Antonio goal and Watkins blank could be a huge swing in ownership.

                          1. Eze Really?

Good point about 7.5's. I just think the least likely to score out of all of them are Toney. I think I will hold off on Toney until after WK1. Our decisions will be made for us anyway with the inevitable injury.

As Jonty famously said, "you can't run from a Loftus-Cheek".

Doesn't look like there are many cheap strikers to go down to if Toney doesn't turn out to be the next Mo Salah.

Looks like you will need to book in 2 transfers if he flops and you need to move up to a viable striking option.

Yeah but luckily you can make two transfers, so the crisis is averted. PHEW

This, of course I get that needing to make more transfers to shuffle around is harder as there may be other issues in your team but it's always pitched as an absolute disaster and it's usually not

Yeah but then you have to fix the problem and you are 2 transfers behind the curve at the start of the season when everything is incredibly fluid and you need to be as flexible as possible. Crisis back on.

That would be 1 transfer 'behind the curve' when comparing to a scenario in which you could run away from a Loftus-Cheek.

Of course, you're neglecting to consider the advantage that people think they are getting from having Toney in their team along with the money spent elsewhere. Perhaps that earns them 4 points or more.

And you're assuming that a problem needs to be fixed, when in reality, if he's not injured, you probably won't know really how likely he is to score less than an alternative striker after 2-4 games. Maybe it's still better to stick with him and use that 1-2m elsewhere.

Or maybe owners of 7.5 strikers will be making 2FTs to get up to Bamford, DCL, Cavani or Kane.

Flexibility is allowing yourself to make decisions when they need to be made rather than forcing yourself through presets during preseason under the assumption that you'll need to run away with only 1 transfer.

Why not pick the players you think will get more points now and then assess the options later? Adapt when you can better know the future. Being too proactive based on little data is restrictive and suboptimal, usually, imo.

People will be saying that selling a 7.5m forward for a 7.5m forward is a pointless sideways move anyway! 😆 Crisis allayed.

Or you can just live with him.

Toney should just keep picking up 2pts for appearances. At 6.5m that will do for a the first five weeks.

Key is (c). Use your transfers for that first.

Absolutely this, one of the best things I learnt was to maximise my transfers, captaincy, top players, if Toney gets 2 it's not an issue if the rest of my team and captaincy is doing well, my concern is if my 9m+ player is injured or off form

This season is perfect for the Salah permacap strategy i.e. one premium is more than sufficient. You would need an alternative cap only for a few GWs.

                          Thoughts?

I wouldn't even be sure Salah is at the club for the whole season. Apart from that, there are players who perform better. Salah has had a bad pre season so far.

Salah always has a bad pre-season and ends up scoring a hattrick come GW1.

He'll leave? To RM? Can they even afford him?

I find it hard to believe you could win the whole thing perma-capping someone, but maybe I'm wrong

It works. Say if Salah scores 250 points whole season thats guaranteed 500 points. Instead if I keep changing the cap - could end up less than 500. It's a conservative strategy.

                            Puzzled by the logic here

Salah has 38 matches home and away against 19 different teams some of which will be rank, some will be competitive and some will match them or more.

What's different from any other season? I'd anything I'd say there were more teams than ever who can cause Liverpool problems and dampen Salah enthusiasm

What's different is a strong backline now and if you see the fixtures he does not have a single back to back block of fixture that can be considered difficult

I think this is a bit of a logical fallacy. Yes you can get the captain choice wrong if you move it.

But the fact is Salah is not going to get returns in every game. There are always other options each gameweek. He is prone to dry spells where there is the annual debate 'time to ditch Salah?' articles. Plus it is part of the fun of the game.

Knowing when to move on from Salah or any player is a key part of the strategic of playing fpl.

From using 'fpl statistico' each season it often reminds me if I picked my highest scorer each week I would be on xyz amount of points.

You could of course keep your captaincy on Salah but no player is immune from dips in form or difficult fixtures. It seems to be more an idea done out of fear of having to make a decision or call rather than one where you think it would get you more points. Plus as I said it takes away a major fun part of the game in my opinion.

                          Attempt number 2 :

                          Sanchez(Bachmann if injured)
                          TAA - Digne - Shaw

                          Watkins - Toney

Sub: Foster - Coufal - White - Obafemi

Anything to change? Beundia can become Raphinia

                            Wouldn’t go with Sancho yet.
For me it’s Antonio over Watkins for the start of the season. But I go back and forth between the two.

I know it may seem reactionary after his wonder goal last night, but Benrahma is legitimately on my watchlist. He's a brilliant player and was great for Brentford a few seasons ago. Slow start in the PL but if he gets going he could legitimately be the next Leicester Mahrez. Let's see. Good price too at 6.0m.

                            He's in my team.

Im a West Ham fan and we seem to score a decent amount of goals.

He also can be kind of greedy, which is ideal for fpl.

The amount of chances Antonio gets in a game is madness, if a few of those fall to Benrahma he is easily worth 6m

The only issue is he doesn't seem to be on corners and free kicks which would no doubt boost his tally.

Should do, we got no one else really.

Bowen on the right and Benrahma and Fornals on the left and middle.

Yarmolenko is out of favour mostly and with no Lingard I reckon he will play.

Also a West Ham supporter. Seeing as we haven't replaced Lingard. Benrahma seems like he will get game time until we do.

Not sure Moyes rates him, has a lot of talent clearly but is probably a bit too maverick for Moyes.

I have Vardy as a possible place holder for Kane when he gets up to fitness around gw4/5 whether at city or spurs.

The reason most do not have Vardy is because they are blinded by Iheanacho's price and many feel unsafe without Fernandes AND Salah,

Vardy will be OK for the 1st month imo players can be transferred in the fpl which people sometimes forget.

I agree he is overpriced. But you are getting a pen taker in a very strong Leicester side for 10.5m.
People seem to be willing to pay 12m for pen taker in Fernandes. Yet seem very Vardy averse the pen taker for Leicester.
Plus regardless of formation Vardy will be starting the side. There are doubts of where Iheanacho would play if Rodgers switched to a 4-2-3-1 for example. As he did in one preseason game.

Is this the standard-ish team that most people have? Haven’t started looking into all the preseason games etc, so this is just my first draft, but assuming it’s pretty standard.

                          Sanchez (steele)

                            I don't like it.

Way too much on the bench/defense, poor structure, no Salah.

                            That's hte honest answer.

Thanks for opinion. My strategy is to have balanced team and rotate depence from fixtures. If needed i can do two transfers every two gameweeks. I can save £2 on defence and keep quality and sacriface one striker - Ihenacho and maybe will be ok to replace Buendia for Salah.

You’ll get slated on here for going without Salah. High ownership and will be captained a lot.

Feels a bit like a differential team, which could be good. There are choices than Stones and Tierney.

Yah, still thinking to save some money on defence and sacrifice Ihenacho (there is Vardy and Daka) to buy Salah. Popular opinion in here is that Shaw will not play first game or two. MC will play with Spurs away so i decided to put difrent defender. As well i think Dias is only one "safe" defender.

Surprised more of the FPL community have not mobilised to explain why Liverpool defensive assets aren’t as good as we might think!

                          Negatives:

                          - TAA + Robbo priced at 7.5 + 7.0 respectively. They were priced this when Liverpool were a different beast losing one game all season and coming second (2018/19) and winning the league (2019/20).

                          - FPL have adapted the prices of the defence. Remember when more defenders were priced 6.5/6.0? E.g. Doherty? Now the closest defender price wise to these two is VVD, then so many amazing defenders in solid defensive teams are 6.0 or below! Chilwell, Cancelo, Dias, Stones, Shaw, Etc etc. The price gap is a chasm!

                          - The context of Liverpool: VVD has been out for nearly a year, Konate is new to the league, and no defensive rock in Wijnaldum. So much context here that points towards a weaker Liverpool defence.

You would therefore anticipate these players to reach similar points totals to last year. Coupled with a whole year for Chelsea defence, who were excellent throughout 2021, and a stronger United backline the overall points totals won’t be as far off these Liverpool boys, might even beat them.

There are some positives. Fixtures are good, form towards the end of last season was good, and both Trent and Robertson are nailed.

But in some cases for two million more, how come Liverpool defensive assets are being blindly accepted into our teams?

Perhaps one can be argued, but those with the double up how can you justify £14.5m of your budget with so many uncertainties?

                          Interesting to hear some thoughts.

Got Robbo in because of nailedness and fixtures. Already owned TAA because of his obvious potential.

I agree on double Liverpool defense being a poor choice given the defensive value on offer.

I have had 0 drafts so far with both of them and will be very very unlikely to be swayed. I do however have TAA in almost my drafts because of his raw point scoring potential.

The only reason I like TAA at his price is that he creates a lot of chances and takes FK / corners.

His chance creation is generally well above those in the 5.5m like Digne, Shaw, James, Cancelo, Tierney etc.

But for me, Robbo is too expensive because his chance creation isn't near TAA.

A summer break for TAA may be the difference. Recovering from injury, yes, but it wasn't a really bad injury so he will be fine.

Please check the stats. Expected assists/ expected set piece assists and almost all creative stats of Robbo and TAA are almost similar. There is no obvious difference.

I've been considering the double up because of their fixtures, and it's easy to downgrade them to anyone else. No hassle of being 0.5 short of the player you want.

Great fixtures to start, for me having TAA is more like buying a pool mid for 7. 5m who gets extra pts for a clean and plays for one of the best two teams in the league for the past 3 seasons. Going without at least one pool def is just overthinking it imo.

Agree that both is overkill, don't see Robbo worth more than 1.5M than Digne. Too many defensive uncertainties to get both though the Liverpool fixtures are very appealing.

I'm with you on this. This opinion does seem to bring out the lynchmob who dont bring reasoning.

£4.5M def should get 100 pts
                            £5.5M def should get 150pts
                            Trent might get 200+pts

Thats 50 pts for the 1st £1M investment and only 25pts each for the subsequent two £1M investments. The maths tracks much better for high investment in mids.

You can't justify getting in any premium by that logic.
Harrison/JWP/Soucek are around 6 million and scored around 150-160 points last season.

6.5 million extra for Salah for 80 more points?

12 extra points per a million spent. 🙂

I think their prices are fair. But I've said words to the same effect as you before. FPL have attempted to give us a choice, or even a gift(!), with the prices of some of the other players. It's interesting not that many people are considering the choice or taking the gift(!).

                              This.
TAA and 2x4.5s sets you back by 16.5. You are heavily dependent on TAA to perform.
You can get 3 premiums like Shaw,Digne,Rudiger for the same price.

Yeah my backline has been something like Shaw, Digne, Tierney, Coufal, Ayling for a while now, but I'm also trying out a strategy for which I'll likely need depth. Still, there are more ways to play, so that's fun!

More negatives you missed out on.

                            1. Last 18 or so appearances with VVD got 4 clean sheets! He is 100% not a magic bullet. The Liverpool defensive slump predates his injury.

                            2. The midfield trio this season is weaker than the league winning side and neither Hendo or Thiago are getting younger and typically only make just over 20 appearances a season. Defence begins in midfield.

                            3. The last time Liverpool defence was dominant it was as part of a duopoly. They have lost much of that fear factor. Teams will not stand off them in the same way.

                            4. Arguably TAA and Robbo have become even more attacking. That's not great for cs

Having a VVD who's just come back from injury is a million miles better than no VVD at all, and I'm not sure if Wijnaldum was as crucial as some people think.

There are risks with pretty much everyone at that price range and below (Digne has a new manager, City will rotate, Chelsea have awkward fixtures, Shaw has a history of injuries and will have less than a month between the Euros final and GW1, Toney's new to the league, Watkins will probably be without Grealish, etc).

There are loads of caveats with that £14.5m regardless of where you put it. I'm only going with TAA at the moment though.

It is more due to the fact that TAA has such a high ceiling.
People remember that game away to Lei, where pool won 4-0 and TAA got 20 odd points in a single game!
It is perfectly viable to go without Pool defence imo, as it lets you have a more balanced team.

It's just one player. You're probably not spreading around that saved 2 million all across your front 8 to have a much balanced team.

You just need to compare something like

                              Digne + 8.5 mil attacker
                              Or
                              TAA + 6.5 mil attacker.

Now I personally think Digne to TAA is a huge upgrade as I'm confident to play TAA in every match , but not Digne. Also going by historical performances, over the season there is a difference of atleast 50-60 points between the 2.
If you think upgrading a 6.5 to 8.5 is a much better upgrade than this, then sure go ahead. Currently I don't seem to find any good nailed attckers in the
The other 13 players remain the same!

I thought of all of those factors you listed.

Was deciding on double pool defence fbs or Vardy and single liverpool defender.
Two seasons ago I went treble pool defence - Alisson, TAA and Robertson v Norwich. I captained TAA and Alisson got injured and Liverpool conceded. That was a Liverpool team with VVD. This season the liverpool defence is even more shaky as they face Norwich gw1 again.

I have planned to transfer out TAA after gw2 as I feel there are plenty of 5.5m defenders and down who offer value and that cash can be used elsewhere. Also in gw3 Liverpool face Leeds and in gw4 Liverpool face Liverpool face Chelsea.

Double Liverpool defence does not look wise in those gameweeks and by gw3 players such as Shaw/Digne should be back flying.

Imo, the reasoning behind Liverpool defensive double up, i.e. TAA+Robbo, comes mainly from Jota's not-nailed-on-ness. With the fixtures, people want to triple up, Salah and TAA are given, put Jota in the draft first, and then come to idea that having nailed Robertson is better.

I don't believe Liverpool will get back to the overperformance levels of the past years just yet. Surely, van Dijk back will help with high line defending, balls over the top, but unless Robertson and Trent don't have attacking returns game by game, the 14.5 on two Liverpool defenders will just lead to frustration. The good side is, it's easy to downgrade as Albatros said.

For me it is more about whether you are 'riskier' manager and go with Jota, or 'safer' and go with Robertson if you want a triple up.

This reminds me of the steady groundswell of "Why I'm going without TAA" hot topics & opinion some of the pro pundits managed to build in the lead up to his blank gameweek for the club-world-whatever-it-was two years ago

I was watching that Leicester game through clenched fingers thinking of all the poor souls who bought into it

Good luck lads, hope it works out well for ye if going without him

Over the last 3 seasons, TAA and Robbo have both averaged about 180 points per season. They are still nailed. TAA has a point to prove. How many of the similarly priced midfielders posted 180 points last season? I don't think any of them got any where near it. Happy to be corrected if you can find one.

If I am to start with both, Robbo would be a fourth premium mid rather than just a third one...it's so tempting as I'd pretty sure no mid will be as nailed and/or outscore him at the price. The only one that might is Torres if he somehow becomes Peps go to up top

You can't look for value in every player.
That way you will never be able to justify getting any premium.
6 million mids are much better 'value' than Bruno and Salah.
4.5 defs are much better value than 5.5 mids and so on.

How I like to think about it is, getting the players with min price that I like and then try to upgrade them.
                            For example,
Let's say I have Raphinha Buendia Digne Shaw Ayling and 3 million to spend.

                            So the question is :
                            Is raph/Buendia -> 9.0 better than Ayling -> Robbo?

Now I personally think, there is no nailed on 9.0 mid which has good fixtures who I can upgrade Raph/Buendia to.
So Ayling to Robbo is a much better upgrade

Premium players in general never offer the best value points pr million - just the highest points.

The double up in Liverpool defense is, for me, viable because there's a variety of circumstances coming together.

Liverpool fixtures are good for the early part of the season.
Liverpool form at the end of last season was pretty good and defense was more stable than earlier.
VVD & Gomez are back and the signing of Konaté. This all points to even more stable defense.
TAA had a full summer holiday - Robbo played 3 match at Euros and then holiday.
TAA & Robbo are nailed and both are on some set pieces.
The alternative to Robbo for the 3ed Liverpool spot is Jota, who's not nailed.
TAA & Robbo are both cash cows - able to downgrade 1 of them to get cash.

Not 100% going with double Liverpool defense but I really like the advantages it gives you going into the season.

The case for, is that they perform as well as mids of the same price. Therefore, one could effectivley have a team of 7 mids equivelant.

easy - robbo and taa totally nailed - you can cash in on one if you need to - add a luca digne / shaw a 4.5 and a fodder and you have an absolute beast of a defence. liverpool fixtures superb and nobody else bar salah is nailed and worth the money.

Agree that 5.5-6 million defenders have potential to reach fantastic points totals (160+)

I do think the Jordan Henderson situation is going under the radar a bit. They need his intensity and leadership

This is the only way I've been able to get a functional team with Salah, Fernandes and Son in it. Thoughts?

                          Trent, Digne, Fofana

                            I have

                            Meslier, Sanchez

                            TAA, Coufal,White,Veltman,Lowton

                            Bamford, Toney, Perica.

Think your team is certainly viable too but I do prefer two playing keepers. If Sanchez is injured he becomes Bachman.

Looks very good. Unlike many on here you have gone for the cheaper two mids to start. ESR has been handed the number 10 for Arsenal so it looks like he will become a fixture there.
I like the team even if Fofana does not start you have Veltman or White to come off the bench.
Only question mark is over Henderson for obvious reasons will he be Utd's number 1. Schmichal/Meslier/pickford are fpl alternatives at 5.0m.

I honestly think it is one of the better teams I have seen balance wise.

For me, this season is coming down to Auba, Sancho, Son and Werner and whether they deliver to their potential.

Son over delivered last season so can he keep it up?
Werner under delivered last season, but got a lot of chances. A slight improvement and he will score a lot of points.
Auba under delivered last season, but with no European football and a summer break, can he be fit and firing. He can get goals as he scored 200 pts in two previous seasons.
Sancho is proven in the Bundesliga, but will he perform in the PL?

We have seen it before with these types of players, where they can make a mockery of their price tag. Salah, KDB, Fernandes and Son have done it before all in that £9.0m - £10.0m price range.

I don't put Man City into this list as I can't see any of them playing more than 28 PL games.

You will have Grealish, KDB, Bernardo, Mahrez, Foden, Sterling, Torres, Jesus and Gundogan all fighting for 5 spots (2 in CM and 3 in attack).

I can't see why not, unless Arsenal sign a new striker. Lacazette isn't getting offered a new deal. Nketiah is crap.

They are linked with Martinez of Inter, but Martinez has said he doesn't want to play in the PL and definitely not for a team who isn't in the CL.

Good points. Auba is a strange one but he had an odd season contracting malaria and familial matters, and on the pitch he was again shuffled between LW and CF which I don't think has ever helped. Lacazette ended the season well though and TheAthletic reported that during their negotiations for Bellerin, Lautaro Martinez came up as Inter need to sell and Arsenal are considering making an offer. So it's hard to know how they'll line up come September.

I think Werner is in a unique position in that even if Haaland / a different striker comes he will still be in a good position to be able to make that position on the left his (even with Pulisic there with his injury record).

Agreed. The ManU 4.0 takes up space too and less likely to go out on loan now Telles injured

Meslier by a mile. Best keeper this season, imo. Regardless of price.

Hoever (Wolves) best 4m defender. As long as you're other 2 benchers are nailed. Discuss. One of the few players (probably 1 of 4) who've been in my team since day 1 of tinkering.

Have't been swayed by any other 4m dude.

Plus he assisted (or was that scored?) iin last friendly

                            Is he?

                            Wolves defence:

                            Sa
                            Semedo Boly Coady Saiss Jonny*

Jonny injured so straight fight between Ait-Nouri and Marcal.

Hoever is a good player but Semedo is clear 1st choice and has been playing well during preseason. I fancy him to be a bandwagon GW4 when all the FPL content creators are looking at his attacking stats.

Think I've finally settled on a team I'm happy with. Go ahead and rip it apart and make me cry lmao.

                          Henderson
                          Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Digne

Balanced no sure on double pool defence after gw2 though.
