Mark Sutherns’ Gameweek 2 thoughts: City, price rises, Gundogan and Odegaard

Fantasy Football Scout’s very own Mark Sutherns has been discussing Gameweek 2 thoughts and his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) team over on our YouTube channel.

This is an exclusive for Premium Members – and there’ll be plenty more to come in 2021/22.

Mark will be filming one video just for subscribers every week throughout the upcoming campaign, so sign up via this link in order to see them.

In his latest video, the FPL BlackBox co-host is joined by video regular Andy.

Manchester City are on the agenda, as the pair discuss their line-up thoughts and ponder what to do with Ilkay Gundogan (£7.5m).

The arrival of Martin Odegaard (£5.5m) at Arsenal, and the potential impact on Emile Smith Rowe (£5.5m), is also cause for discussion.

Mark and Andy chat about price rises and their approach to them before captaincy and next week’s plans comes under the spotlight

Decided to take the plunge on Bruno cap (Camzy convinced me). Sometimes you gotta risk it for the biscuit. The riskier play is a bit of a rush, which is fun. It's a game after all. GL, managers.

You will soon learn that Camzy is unfairly dismissive of very valid arguments.

      Maybe not today. But eventually.

We can all be like that though, myself and yourself included! We butt heads sometimes, we talk football it's all good fun best thing to do is not hold onto one disagreement or let it linger into other discussions

I don't disagree. But you it's a bit silly to say "I don't get why people are captaining Salah". That's like saying you don't get why people captained Aguero, or Suarez.

Of course but again we've probably all said off the cuff things like that, that if scrutinised just sounds dumb

If it's me you mbp deulo camzy involved we can probably make any dumb thing we've said sound justified with enough posts and arguing 😛

My eye on Livramento as he is (was) a blue and looks quality.

But eyes on if Hoever keeps that spot for Wolves. Better immediate fixtures.

I'm looking at Livramento for my WC further down the line, but you won't get points off a 4m defender for a while after Tsimi.

Yeah. Fact is I should never really need my 4m defender - rest of my squad is playing (Brownhill, maybe only but-part). Not a priority.

Just looked at my ML. 2 sides identical. I wonder if Andy has something to do with it? Shame. Not for content creators, the cheating sheep who follow him. Maybe it is time to put some rules in place. Eventually, it will rebound back to the content creators though.

You have to hope and also expect that the same sheep who just copy transfers are the same people who will lose interest after 3 weeks. Surely it's better to have a go and fail massively than just login and make your weekly transfer that is identical to 100k others.

I don't think that will happen to be honest.

I find him one of the more self effacing and modest You Tubers and his discussions on the different options are what I am interested in rather that his actual choice of team. Maybe I am more easily pleased than some.

I got a massive 105 points. I came JOINT first in my ML with a rival who had one different player. Neither of us copied an 'influencer' - it's just the narrowness of the opening template.

Yes, I was influenced by a myriad of tweets and youtubes as well as articles here. But no one person. That's how research before choosing your own squad is supposed to work. I think the initial pricing pushed us into a narrow range of good value picks. My point is it was logical to see similar squads without copying one 'expert'. I don't recall seeing the Important Andy's squad so I don't know how similar or different mine or my rival's is.
But I have no doubt that these all-too-similar squads won't last for long. That's not to say I don't condemn people who lazily just copy 'Pro's squads - I do and I support measures to avoid revealing changes until after deadlines.

There is a strong template for sure this year, people who in my work and friends leagues were more casual now have players they previously wouldn't have known existed, that said while I don't like everyone having the same teams I do like competition so I'm all for it. And it'll crumble soon anyway a low scoring week with both Salah and Bruno blanking will have people tearing up teams

For sure the template is strong. The Bruno Salah picks made a difference outside of anything else. But there are still at leat 25 players to choose from. Do the math and work out the variables on 25 chances over 15 players.

The only Caveat with that is that it depends on how many goalies, defenders, mids and atts are in those 25.

The mathematical variables will be decided by that.

Yep. I cannot remember the exact numbers but i remember the Euro 2020 game. I was about 10k when finished which, in % terms quite a way up the rankings. When I looked at Andy's league and the Black Box league my percentages were well down; an I mean well down. Additional points/positions enlarge the scope but it will never solve the real problem.

Content creation. And a plethora of FPL Twitter accounts are definitely increasing the percentage of template teams. 😀

We were really in the minority with this website. That edge is becoming thinner every year..

Maybe make a rule to ban teams that publicly share their line up before the deadline? This would force the content creators hands. Hard to impliment though.

                        Interesting debate going on here.
I totally take the point that there's more information out there than ever and maybe less 'edge' to a degree, but equally there's a lot of noise and competing viewpoints.
I think we're early in the season now and there's a strong template, but it'll change sizeably from GW3 I think.
Also, isn't part of the fun all the debate and discussion?

If most of the midfielders weren't unusable, that would help a lot. We all take for granted that defensive midfielders are useless in FPL but it shouldn't be like that. I'd love to own someone like Kante if that means getting points for blocks, interceptions, 2 points for clean sheet etc. Those are taken into accounts for bonus points but they never get them.

There are other FF games that do account for a wider range, thus making the games more complicated an off-putting to the user, which reduces the popularity for many.

                        It becomes complex then.
The reason FPL has the mass appeal is it's simplicity.
Also, you want to cheer for goals in a match you're watching, not for a defensive midfielder making blocks and interceptions.

Valid points from you two. It's a shame that we can't even consider some of the best players in the world instead of making it a tad more complex in terms of points.

I've wondered for a while if there should be a bonus for the MF players for being on the winning team.
Keeps it simple but rewards those defensive MF players.

IMO, the two main reasons for why there are so many template teams:

                  1) While the pricing this year seems to be better, Salah and Fernandes are arguably underpriced (as evidenced by the fact that they’re in almost 60% of teams at their price). If they were priced at 15 and Mane were priced at 11, you could have Mane, Son and DCL for the price of Salah & Fernandes, which would bust a lot of teams up.

                  2) the bonus points system is garbage. It rewards players that have already done well in a match. It would be better if it rewarded players who dominated the midfield defensively (ball recoveries, interceptions) like Kante or the players who ‘assisted the assister’. This would add a large random element to the game IMO.

This is a thought process I appreciate. The spread clearly has to be bigger. The points offered should be different. However, there are those who picked one of Salah/Bruno otherwise there would be 80% ownership plus. As I said I have no definitive solution. Maybe there isn't one.

I don't understand what's the problem here. Should every sheep follow one or some people on Youtube, it would make winning this game much easier. Should there be million sheeps following him, winning Andy would mean winning million sheeps. There is nothing wrong in it. Only real sheeps can afraid of competition. Most boring start in my ml in 10yrs. Pretty much everyone has 11/15 same players.

With 105 points in gw1 I was 6th. Even the guy who plays his second season, rarely watch footy had the likes of Tsimikas and Bemrahma.

So easy to get spoon feeded information on social media and hidden gems aren't hidden no more, thanks "content" creators.

I also blame fpl pricing popular players too low. Shaw should have been 6.0, Mane 11, Tsimikas 4.5, Raphinha 7.5, Jota and GW 8.0 etc.

Personally I think a lot of the blame lies with the pricing. If, say, there were more of a gap between Salah and Mané's prices and the likes of Shaw + Raphinha were more expensive, then we would have a greater diversity of teams imo.

I think this is a good point, pricing is the most important part of the game to try and encourage different set ups. Although I think that Kane Lukaku KDB being their prices is going to change things a fair bit going forward. You wont be able to fit in everyone good.

The emergence of Tsimikas, Lundstram, Kane when he was 5.0 or whatever etc is always the big problem as everyone gets them and then can afford more big hitters. Will be interesting to see what happens this season.

The price change system needs a rework. It enables and promotes template building.

My suggestion is another price change system that takes place between GWs and is 100% transparent. Unlike the current system, that additional price change system would be based around ownership and to some degree performance. This price change system would not affect your team value. When you own a player that rises, you lose 0.1 from the bank. When you own a player that falls, you get 0.1 added to your bank. If the price changes take you below 0.0, you can't confirm your next transfers until your transfers take your bank back into positive. When you sell players that have risen in value through this system, you get to keep all of the price rises, instead of only 0.1 per 0.2 rises.

This system would correct much better for mispricing of players, and force people to consider more players in the game. Unfortunately it would probably be difficult to write a good algorithm.

I think you are all missing it..

Here in America, DFS has taken over Fantasy Football and Gambling both. DFS is basically FPL; salary cap, universal player choice, known information. What has happened is people use statistics, algorithms and historical reference to narrow the many different options from 32 nfl teams down to a few “elite” options for the relative price points. The result is that the weekly “template” is predictable and ubiquitous and the winners are teams with the slightest variation from that template in a way that captures the unmeasurable luck factor.

Limited allocation of capital, known information (stats/fixtures) and limited combinations are going to produce a “right” answer. “Going against the template” will never work because as we like to say “it’s the template for a reason”. Because maths.

Football is not as data driven as NFL though I guess. If most players were not bad options (because of pricing or because of the points system), we wouldn't be in this situation.

The first step to increase diversity is making all 22 players on the pitch an option for FPL.
Currently, most of us are just looking at 2 full backs and 3 attackers for each team.
There is no team where you would consider more than 4-5 players for FPL.

How many people are considering anyone from Everton apart from Digne DCL and Richarlison?

How many people are considering anyone from Brentford apart from Toney and their GK?

The pool of players narrows down to just around 40-50 players when it really should be 220 players.

Then the content creators come in to narrow the 40-50 down to 15-20 and we see a very strong template.

                  Possible Solutions:
                  - without changing the simplicity of the game and introducing points for tackles, blocks and passes, we need to figure out a way to make players like Kante and Kovacic an option.
Can we have all cdms listed with defenders?
Can we say CDMs get 3 points for a clean sheet?
They really have to come up with a way where the best CDM in the league should have similar points to the best full back in the league. (This has to be true for all positions- we should have a 180 point CB, 180 point FB, 180point CDM.. and so on)
That's when the player pool increases, and diversity kicks in.

I still think this year would be interesting once Lukaku and Kane come into the picture.
Currently all content creators point to the same Bruno + Salah team.
Casuals would have to make their own decisions if the advice of Andy, BigmanBakar and Mark is different.

It seems a common thread which is noted. The problem I see is The Bisoumas of the game will shine each week if there are improvements when they do their job. As you say it will require a bigger player pool to, say 22 which would never rub with FPL Towers.

Hmm that's why I think they have to come up with a points structure that doesn't benefit one type of player to another.
( Obviously the pricing will change too , to make the best defensive mids priced around 6-8 million, like the best full backs currently are)

Everton? Gray and Doucoure, im teared up at choosing 1 of those 2 and I want one of them for sure.

Brentford? I'd disagree even more. Mbuemo comes into the mix, and this causes much greater variance compared to picking between DCL and Rich, because picking 1 of Mbumemo or Toney is picking a mid or an attacker.
Also Pinnock comes into the picture.

The main issue isn't the pool of players. The main issue is lazy people who want to copy other teams and are over the moon with a top 200k finish.

If people want to "cheat", let them. However, if and when things go awry, they won't have the understanding or knowledge of how to get themselves out of it, because they haven't learnt anything. I'd also question what enjoyment they are getting out of the game but that's their perogative. There's also no guarantee of success in cheating, if you copied Andy 2 seasons ago you'd be well out the top 200k. If you copied Fpl general 3 seasons ago you'd be outside the top 500k!

As engaged fpl managers the stupid thing to do right now would be to get frustrated, or panic and make daft differential chasing transfers or captains in an effort to beat the sheep, and actually fall further behind in doing so. The template is strong right now. So be it. Pick your battles, choose your timing to attack wisely. In the meantime, let the points roll in!

Also, what does every decent content creator preach at this time early in the season? Stay with the pack, it's a marathon not a sprint, don't fall behind. This is exactly what we should be doing, what we are doing, and it's working. Why the hell is anyone complaining?

Everything you say has a lot of substance. Follow your thinking and you are right. The "however" thing is coming out though. No problem taking in the advice but make it more difficult for copy cats. Change the pricing structure and its timing. Get the content creators to avoid "team reveal" until it is too late. (Just a thought already mentioned on this thread)

                      - ways to HASTEN UP the template burst.

I quite like the pricing as it is, it's got a risk reward element. Make moves early and you gain TV, but at the expense of information which arrives in the pressers.

I think you will have trouble trying to stop the team reveals. The likes of scout and FF hub have part of their business model built on the fact members pay for team reveal articles as part of the subscription package. Ideologically you're right and I agree with you, but the genie is out the bottle on that front and you will have a hard time putting it back.

I understand the concern, but really, it only changes some of the dynamics of the game, which you and I have to adapt to and approach differently.

                  1) "Gather your opponents at the same place and obliterate them all at once" - pretty straightforward. As Rumormill had mentioned, most template "copiers" will not be able to get themselves outa trouble.

                  2) it's not the system, it's the people. And i'll give you a small example to debunk all those system change "solutions" provided by the lads above (price, bps, etc...)

Say the system changed, even massively. Andy would STILL share his team, and 200K would STILL copy it.

                  3) be happy! the MORE template riders there are, the BIGGER the bubble burst would be when it happens - that's pure mathematics.

                  4) it is almost impossible to keep up with someone's template even if they're sharing their team weekly, you WILL miss price changes, that say, Andy, won't. Week by week this WILL happen.

                  5) the "Salah Bruno" template is a very normal thing - we do see that every year, captaincy ALONE should be a great differential.

                  In MY conclusion:

                  - It's not a big issue, rather a phenomena.
                  - Bigger template leads to bigger bubble burst.
                  - it will be impossible to keep up
                  - opponents are allowing you to dig them a mass grave with time

Agree with all this, good points.

I think it's also because it's the start of the season. We aren't at the point yet where all those little 0.1, 0.2 differences are in play yet which allow people different routes in their teams, that opens it up a bit too.

We are already seeing the first signs of template break up anyway, Robertson being back taking tsimikas out the template. There isnt one obvious option to replace him with, so people will take different routes. Toney just blanked again, he will be sold in droves now I imagine. Son or Lukaku may make themselves too good to ignore later today, that changes the template again. And we haven't even got onto wildcards, fixture swings of the chaos of international break quarantines yet! The template break up will come, we just need patience for now.

Just read through this most interesting discussion. I think your conclusions are correct. We are half way through game week 2.
The emergence of other “ must haves” and fixtures swings will mean different options which not all content providers will agree on.
In deed often there are 50:50 calls that can lead to huge swings in fortunes.
It is just meant to be a bit of fun.

Another way to think about it as that all these sheep provide a strategic manager with an opportunity to rise above the pack. So many potentially good FPL assets are ignored, you hardly have to worry about them, you only have to beat the core template because it's so ridiculously strong. Having got off to a decent start by doing things a little differently, it was a case of seemingly jumping a start on rivals in a variety of different mini leagues large and small, since they were all 90% the same, with the heavy hitters, the same captain choice, the same excuses of not wanting to take any risks early on. Cool, no Alonso 15-pointer for them then with possibly the best GW1 fixture available and virtually certain to start with Chilwell missing pre-season. Easy points, move on.

                    I completely agree with this.
If you can't beat 100.000 players with exactly the same team, then you don't deserve to be in top 1, 10, 100, 1000 & 10,000.
I'm not saying we're supposed to beat this strong template from GW1, but if you don't expect to gain grounds on the template - join it - until you don't no more.

I'll use myself as an example (because I'm a bit narcissistic like most 😉 ).
I went fairly template GW1: Sanchez, TAA, Tsimikas, Shaw, Salah (C), Bruno, Antonio, Ings, Toney
I did BB though (119) with the rest of my players being Raya, Targett, Amartey, Barnes, Sarr & ESR
Not the greatest of BB's (did not outperform those with Greenwood & Benrahma as an example, but got me off to a great start.
Basically I decided to opt away from Jota/Greenwood/Raphinha and spread the cash around.
This has not exactly been a succes, but this GW I did go Bruno (C) so if Barnes and Bruno (C) returns, then I should still gain ground on the template (again).
My problem is the cash tied up in Targett (about to fall), ESR & Toney (about to fall), and Raya.
I could solve this by rejoining the template bringing in White/Ayling, Steele/Foster & either 4.5 mid or 4.5-5.0 forward + Raphinha/DCL/Greenwood.

Or I could use my transfers more aggressive (Salah -> Son and downgrade lets say Target to be able to do Ings -> Lukaku already from GW4).

Really just go with the flow as long as you and all your research and thoughts think that it'll bring home the points, but at some point you will have the opportunity to stray away - go for it. If the template still outscore your 'gamble', then it is on you, and you might have tried to beat the template too soon, but if it suceed, then you don't really have to look back if indeed 100.000 managers copy Andy every week. Watch his stuff and prepare yourself for impact 😉

I'm getting a bit sick of the group think even amongst the content creators. So few of them are prepared to deeply consider and discuss alternatively ways of playing the game. They're 'template and proud', and I think it's a sad indictment on their chosen roles in the community. I would love to hear some 'experts' (I use the world loosely, since most of them are just like anyone else but with a podcast) who approach FPL from a very strategic point of view, looking for opportunities to gain small advantages over the pack every gameweek. Every pod and YouTube channel sounds a little bit the same in terms of moves and advice. But then you only have to browse on here to see why, because going anti-template is considered bad management even though a large majority of those doing it have probably never experienced what it's like to break that template successfully.

Yeah. I have been reading some detailed threads that all have their merit. The case in point, as Ruth says below is largely due to pricing. i can only presume the sheep had little trouble in following the likes of Andy blindly. My issue is not so much the cause, but the effect. It is too late to correct what is done but we can nip this in the bud somewhat. I would challenge all content creators to continue offer advice but not lead them by the scruff of the neck down their paths. It is hard for them too as they make a living out of it.

Agree with you about the copycat thing but you can't change it so no point bemoaning it.

The underlying problem this season is that FPL completely screwed the pricing up. Essentially they rushed prices out early because they wanted to keep the PL in people's minds with Euro2020 going on. In order to do that they essentially based the valuations on last season's finishing prices.

On the face of it that sounds OK but it isn't. A player doesn't move that much in price in a season, the finishing price is always rooted in the price the player started at. Consequently we have pricing that is, at root, based on performance in the 19/20 season and only slightly moderated by 20/21 rather than having pricing based on performance in 20/21.

As a result, those teams that improved considerably (or beat expectations considerably) last season are across-the-board underpriced. That means West Ham, it means Leeds, it means the United defence, to take just 3 examples. Any regular starter among those teams is likely to be under-valued (and they are).

Other side of the coin, teams that disappointed and/or regressed last season - think Southampton, think Wolves, think Liverpool - are now generally over-priced. The ridiculous 0.5m differential between Salah and Mané is a case in point; clearly not justified by last season's performance but based on the season before when they were much closer. In the case of Liverpool it may not matter if they are back to 19/20 levels this season with VVD back and so on but it's hard to imagine anyone wanting Wolves or Southampton players at the start of the season other than the very cheap fodder-type ones.

Then you had players moving to clubs where their valuation looked better - Grealish, Ings - or those who are great when fit and were starting the season fit - Antonio, Wilson. Then you can factor in the fact that a number of players that might usually be in contention were injured and/or late back to pre-season following Euro2020 and Copa - KDB, Chilwell, Kane, Rashford, Sancho.

All of that together has created a narrow pool of players that could be considered good choices. That will expand as the season wears on.

See above Ruth. You almost wrote an article in itself. I think my initial post was simply to point out where the game is going by cheating rather than knowledge. Two free transfers a week would work i reckon. Would allow for more flexibility and risk taking imo. lots of options out there not being considered prior to gw1 due to transfer window being open, late return from off-season, player being transferred to a club after gw1, injuries, etc

It could be a phenomenon but the fact remains people are copying teams more and more. I do not have a perfect solution and i will bemoan it because cheats spoil the game.

If you look at the Mods and Cons League, you may notice that Mark Sutherns, Andy LTFPL and myself all have very similar, but not quite identical, starting elevens.
Ten players the same, and different MCI players for the eleventh.
The result was that we all scored exactly 100 points in GW1, but in GW2 my Cancelo outscored Mark's Torres and Andy's Gundogan.
But no cheating or copying was involved. We are all capable of thinking for ourselves and making our own decisions, but after examining information, ideas and opinions from many sources we just happened to finish up with very similar near-template teams - and many of the players in the template are in there for good reasons.
I think that one of the main culprlts for the similarity of so many 'casual' teams is FPL itself. If you look at the Scout tab on the FPL web-site you will find a tremendous amount of spoon-feeding, even including a number of ready-made complete suggested squads.

The difference is you guys know what they are doing. The 2 guys I am talking about are not in the same league. And, as you said, they are not identical. These guys are. Judging by responses, it is impacting on people's views.

There have been templates long before there were YouTube content creators. Anyone here (or reddit, or any one of dozens of sites/forums) can listen to any of the 5 million RMTs, agree with one from a poster they like, and voila, they are cheating? Complete nonsense.

I don't like templates any more than anyone else, but we're on forums to discuss... sometimes said discussion leads to a broad consensus. That's hardly cheating. You seem to be moaning that people have access to information that used to be exclusive.

What you seem to want is a draft league. I hear FPL has one availalable.

Why do you feel the need to post a comment like this. You clearly did not read my post. I have 2 guys copying identically. That is all. You are entitled to your view but don't presume what I may want or not want.

You presume they have copied because their teams are identical. But you have no idea what thought process went into their teams, or how many other ideas or content creators' teams that they rejected along the way. Lots of assumptions baked into your accusation of cheating.
That these ideas and the rationale behind them are now more widely accessible is no reason to be bitter.
You are cheater because you confer with other degenerates on a fantasy football site. And so am I. We're all cheaters because our teams are all near-identical.
Or you'd just prefer to play against clueless no-hope morons?
Like I said, you sound like you'd enjoy a draft league. Nicely gets around the problem of identical teams and spoon-fed masses, if that's actually your complaint.

I think you have the problem. just about every sentence is a negative. You make unfounded accusations, calling me a cheater. At least you admit you are one too. Get a life man. I make it clear it is not the content creators spoiling the game, it is those who take away the spirit of the game. If you know enough you will realize the chances of 2 people having identical sides is unlikely to say the least. Both happen to be Andy's side. Anyway it is an opinion and well followed it seems, whether in agreement or opposed to it. I am sure the other "degenerates" of which you include me will appreciate your approach.

Sorry, maybe my being facetious didn't come through. My point is that we've all stolen/copied/borrowed every player we have picked. We're all guilty of this to varying degrees, and no, I don't believe that's cheating. So I genuinely don't understand what you're complaining about. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

As for getting a life, I'm not getting upset that certain imaginary managers of imaginary football teams that score imaginary points are picking their imaginary teams in a manner than I disapprove of, to the point of ranting about it to other imaginary managers.

Look bud. Let us just bury the hatchet. I seriously think you miss the point. Just try not to be negative. I am not complaining, just stating a fact that hopefully something could be done about it. If you think it is not cheating, that is fine. There is a difference being facetious than rude.
We could go on for days about it. As I said, let us move on and offer each other good, friendly "caveats" in the future.

I'm actually not trying to be negative!!
My best piece of advice would be to focus on your team, and on the enjoyment (hopefully!) that you get from FPL. Ignore the sheep and their spoon-fed teams; you'll surpass all of them over the course of the season. It's easy to get caught up in every perceived injustice - but it's a dangerous rabbit-hole to go down.

This has been one of the best HT:s I can remember. Thank You. One easy solution would be better pricing. We all knew that Shaw will be the popular pick over AWB when both were 5.5. But for example, what if Shaw was 5.7 and AWB 5.4 or 5.3 to start with? That would give us immediately much bigger pool of players to start with. Is leaving little money itb too difficult for casuals? I doubt it.

Middle. Usually formation and lineup graphic suggest it.

However Elliot has played a lot of RW so you could have a situation when Salah moves more CF (sharing or with Jota a bit deeper) during certain parts of possession.

For the majority you'd expect it the same front 3 as the first 60 mins last week though.

15 single returns, one double return and two fantasy assists last season says it all - playing more like an 8.0 than an 11.0

Mostly like a regular football league, you're playing against one of the rivals each week, whoever scores more (minus hits) gets 3 points, 1 point for draw etc. You can have a knock-out at the end of it when top four teams play like semifinals and final in the last two weeks of the season.

                  Top10K starts on -2.2

There's a lot of "imma win the week" teams in the Top10K...

OR means little at the moment...

Another crazy stat - Bruno is my biggest "threat" in terms of points against - and he's in my team....

He scores, I drop in rank... He blanks, the rest of the world will catch me...

                  Hmm...

Don't overthink it. Just lock him in and find your edge in other lower priced players.

I have gone without Bruno it depends which alternative you think is better value and results is a strong squad overall.
                    I went for Vardy instead.

                  Things you love to see.

Alternatively instead of subscribing and listening to Mark Suthern's thoughts on ESR and the impact of Odegaard- you could just do an internet search for free!

                  https://www.msn.com/en-ie/sport/american-football/martin-odegaards-arsenal-role-and-what-it-means-for-emile-smith-rowe/ar-AANurP1

"Which is good news for everyone in the red half of north London, of course, except perhaps for Emile Smith Rowe.

It was only during the aftermath of Odegaard's departure that Smith Rowe put pen to paper on a new long-term contract.

In doing so, Arsenal showed their faith in the Hale End academy graduate by handing him the coveted No.10 shirt - a moment that was not lost on Smith Rowe.

The likelihood is that the pair will share the No.10 duties across the campaign, though more often than not it looks more certain that Odegaard will be given the nod, which despite Arteta's insistence, could well have an impact on Smith Rowe's effectiveness."

Haven't seen Salah play this well in over a year , both gw1 and 2 he's been on it.

There was a person on here today ranting about how people are cowards and sheep for capping Salah/Bruno only when there are so many good/better alternatives like City players. I won't mention names, but that person is in the same league as me and guess what? He capped Bruno 😀

Ha, Dusan. Maximus totally destroyed him on here on Saturday. He still popped up for more humiliation yesterday. Seems like a tiresome troll to me, I just glaze over his provocations.

With referees over reaction and interpretation of new rules I can see more injuries happening. Some of Spurs tackling last week v Man C resembled a cross between rollerball and WWE which was instrumental in Spurs winning. There was one really dangerous tackle on De Bruyne when he came on. Coupled with Covid infections on the rise and knocking a few out, I think at least two certain starters on the bench is a good idea. Just my humble opinion

A cross between rollerball and WWE? You mean theatrics and feigning injuries?

Was looking at Duffy or Livramento but what about Dier, would he be a better option? More money though, would he be worth the price over the other 2 options?

Actually think that's a terrible idea, way too much money in defence otherwise.
