Wolves worry on Doyle fitness. Caldwell back to threaten Gohouri’s role. Sagna set for a spell on the sidelines. Albrighton concern for Villa ahead of weekend clash with Chelsea. Here’s the 24-hour scribble blast…

Mick McCarthy’s quest for attacking football (ahem) won’t have been helped by the news that key striker Kevin Doyle has returned to the club from international duty with the Republic after suffering a knee injury. Doyle will undergo tests to assess the damage but right now, he has to go down as an early doubt for the vital home clash with West Ham this weekend. Ebanks-Blake will be on standby to come in should the Irishman fail to make it.

Roberto Martinez will have been pleased to see Gary Caldwell play out his first action of the season following a Summer of hip operations, as he took up a defensive midfield role for Scotland against the Czech Republic at the weekend. Caldwell is an early doubt for Scotland’s Tuesday meeting with Spain, but will nonetheless be encouraged by a belated return to action. Wigan’s defensive options are boosted then, and Caldwell, as a Martinez signing, will now provide a threat to Steve Gohouri who has so far excelled alongside Paraguayan stopper Antolin Alcaraz.

Reports are suggesting that Bacary Sagna faces around three weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury that kept him out of France’s two internationals over the break. Sagna apparently informed French TV…

“It’s okay. I’m currently in rehabilitation. It will take three weeks. I’ll take my time to get back.”

Arsene Wenger does have a ready-made replacement in Emmanuel Eboue available to him, but Eboue’s shift to right-back will reduce Wenger’s options in midfield somewhat.

Villa’s bargain Fantasy winger Marc Albrighton has pulled out of the England U21 squad for their vital European Championship play-off in Romania due to a “minor groin complaint”. Albrighton has presumably returned to Villa for an assessment of the injury but he will now be an early doubt for their home clash with Chelsea this weekend.

Chelsea have their own injury concern at the back for that game – John Terry withdrew from the reckoning for England’s meet with Montenegro on Sunday after suffering further back problems in training. Any doubts surrounding Terry’s availability will be a major concern for Carlo Ancelotti going into the weekend, given that Alex is already ruled out of the game through injury. We can only presume that Terry’s withdrawal here is a precautionary, although we will need to listen out for noises from Ancelotti’s press comments as the week progresses.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Will you fancy someone who compete with nani and valencia(assuming he is gonna be fit) for starting place? If anything he is a fantasy goldmine now rather than any other time.

Ok then, if -Asenal signed him he'd be a pretty tasty option (given that walcott is permanently injured- although Sunderland's defence is almost better than arsenal's...)

as a fellow egyptian I can inform you that el-mohammady will not be an Amir Zaki, he comes from a different part of egypt, where they are thankful for what they get, unlike Zaki who thought he could do anything and get away with it.
If Zaki had kept going I think he could be playing for a team like Bayern Munich by now.

Saw the paranormal activity comments above, am I the only one who wasn't scared by it? Admittedly I found the previews scary but was disappointed with the final movie. I think I built it up too much, was dying to watch it and when I saw it on the opening night...meh.

Paranormal activity 2 trailers are up as well!!

Old news! Only joking, but it is a few posts up:)

I'm not happy about this, I had him in my original team and took him out during my wildcard and have more recently got him back for the long term.

I don't want my competition knowing about him!

One problem with owning him - he's hard to leave out regardless of the opposition.

I was just thinking that. He doesnt deserve to, for Chelsea hes like the Terminator, gets kicked in the head, gets up fine and the the other player has a broken ankle. Then when it comes to these qualifying matches or friendlies hes conventionality injured.

I appreciate it's more or less the same as every other one, but any thoughts on my possible WC team?

    Foster Jaaskelainen
    Elmohamady Simpson Alcaraz Salcido Jara
Malouda Fabregas Van der Vaart Albrighton Nani
    Drogba Odemwingie Van Persie

I know Albrighton is currently out but I think he's worth keeping long term and refuse to ever have Barton in my team.

Already used free transfer, which does everyone think is best for the wkend?

    1. Keep Gerrard and Torres (Bench Torres assuming he's not going to make it)
    2. Gerrard to Fab (Bench Torres)
    3. Torres to Tevez/Rooney/Berb (Play Gerrard)
    4. 2 and 3 for 8 point hit
