The key FPL Gameweek 5 stats on Salah, City, Wolves, Mendy, Spurs and more

Four Gameweeks have passed and I thought it might be a good idea to take note of some statistics from the Premium Members Area that have caught my eye so far. Of course, I know that four Gameweeks is not a sufficient sample size, so I will try my best to contextualise things as well.

SALAH’S CREATIVITY

It is not like we needed any more reason to strengthen our belief in Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) but the fact remains that there is a greater case for him now simply because the avenues to points have increased. He’s always had incredibly strong underlying numbers when it comes to goal threat, which is also the case this year. Only two players, Sadio Mane (£11.9m) and Michail Antonio (£7.9m), have had more big chances, shots and shots in the box than him. This is something we always expect from the Egyptian.

The cherry on the cake, though, is that Salah is also table-topping the creative stats. Only two players are ahead of him in the chances created and the big chances created metrics. His historical chances created per 90 minutes numbers are below:

That is all from me for this Gameweek. I hope you enjoyed reading this article and I will see you next week!

In the meantime, if you want more information and thoughts about the Gameweek, do check out our latest episode of The FPL Wire below:

Leeds fail with appeal against Struijk ban for red card. I find this utterly baffling. Literally nobody thinks that should had been a red card including Harvey himself.

I’d tend to agree with him, same as pundits analysing penalty decisions etc in great depth. Once a decision is final there’s literally nothing anyone can do to change it, so move on.

That's true, but I stand by my stance that the decision has been made and no amount of going over it again and again on this forum makes the slightest bit of difference.

I guess the thinking is along the same lines where involuntary manslaughter is classed as a crime.

To be honest, I can't believe we are debating the red card whilst poor Harvey is sat there will a broken leg.

      Ramsdale, Sanchez

      TAA, Shaw, Semedo, Livramento, Willilams

      Salah, Raphinha, Traore, Barnes, Sissoko

I'm tempted to double up on Liverpool and Wolves for the next few gw's with TAA Matip Semedo Marcal .....then switch out to Chelsea defs GW7

Yep, could work. I think I'll be looking at Shaw to a Chelsea Def in GW7 also.

Admittedly, Barnes has been with me from the start and obviously has not paid off just yet. However, I feel like it wouldn't make much sense to drop him now with those fixtures...certainly with the next 3.

I know its a far shot but I really like Firpo as a differential. He was playing extremely high up the pitch even against Liverpool and he is very competent attacking wise. With that fixture run he could grab good hauls. If Llorente is not seriously injured it would be a big bonus as he is massive for Leeds CS potential.

If you think he’s gonna score more highly then why not! I guess in this case there’s always the chance salah’s minutes might be managed after Europe. Though I must admit I’m capping Salah and have them both.

Thoughts on this WC would be appreciated… been toying with it for ages! I know Edouard is an unproven quantity but I’m set on him for a punt, so any feedback apart from that would be great.

    Sanchez/4.0

    TAA/Tierney/Marcal/Livra/Williams

    Salah/Raphinha/F.Torres/Gallagher/Sissoko

    Lukaku/Ronaldo/Edouard

Leaves a whopping 0.1 to play with. Cheers!

The biggest problem Leeds have at this point is their sticky tape defence.

Their attack is out of form and if Biesla decides to go gung ho, all wil come crumbling down which is already happening IMO.

I may switch Raphina next week if another bad result follows.

AZ said similar to what you're saying on Blackbox but it's nonsense. It's been 4 games and they've had one of the hardest starts. They've were overhyped by people, thinking they're capable to qualify for Europe and now they lose a couple of games and they could get relegated? No chance. They will start playing well with their run.

Their central defence is currently gutted. They've been able to play their first-choice defence for all of 30 minutes so far. However, going forward, I'm hoping they hit the gas. Bamford, Raph, Harrison could all do well - against Newcastle anyway.

Leeds will do well against easier teams, their attack is very very good, not been clinical this season, i'm going with raphinha on WC, at 6.5, the lynchpin of a mid-table side which loves to attack, its damn good

    Bottomed:

Am I good to go for this week, benching Antonio for Sissoko this week as have too much value tied up in him & would want him back anyway, done DCL > Bamford, and who would be my best choice for captain, Salah or Cr7?

    Sanchez
    Trent - Rudiger - Marcal
    Salah - Jota - Torres - Traore - Sissoko
    Bamford - Cr7

Bench: Steele - Williams - Livramento - Antonio

4.5, nailed, may score more than once every 5 years unlike Happy Gilmour.

He's the most attacking of the 4.5s. Admittedly it's for a team that doesn't score and has bad fixtures.

Yes, he's playing in a more advanced midfield role at Watford.

I disagree on the fixtures, they're not bad at all and it's another reason why he's a popular pick.

Really? After GWs5-6, I wouldn't want him coming up for air until GW16.

              Absolutely.

Let’s have it right, we’re talking about a 4.5m (5th choice) midfielder. Expectations should not be high for a consistent haul of points but with his role in that side and the relatively good fixtures, he’s a solid pick for that price range and by no means the worst.

I got Mendy in. Looks like the clean sheets and bonus are going to be in plenty of supply this season.

    A) R. James, White (bench) and Adama
    B) Marcal (double Wolves def), Livramento (bench), Torres

If B, would likely do Shaw -> James in GW 7. If Wolves fail to keep cs can also do Marcal -> White at one point so I have some possibilities. I feel like B is a bit more risky but can bring higher rewards.

The midfield looks great but is also rotation risk (Torres, Greenwood and Jota). It could bring you monster hauls but also 3x1 pointer sometimes. I would prefer to have 1 or 2 from them max, maybe not 3. But if you feel happy taking the risks, it is great of course.

Cheers lord they all seem great value for the time being and can score off the bench but agree it is a risk.

I wouldn’t go with torres/jota/Greenwood. Replace one with someone a bit more nailed on (personally I’d move out Greenwood).

I like it, but I think I prefer a 3-4-3 (and that’s what I’m going with on my WC).
I can see me swapping between Bam, Antonio & Jimi for the 2 spots outside of the space reserved for Ronaldo/Lukaku.
If Antonio comes back and picks up where he left off, you’ll be scrambling to replace Jimi or switch to a 3-4-3

Well, I'll take my chances on him I think. Sounds weird if Arteta planned to "give Leno a break" and put him on the bench.
