Son returns as Mendy absent and James benched for Chelsea

In the final match of Gameweek 5, Tottenham Hotspur entertain Chelsea.

Kick-off is at 16:30 BST.

The big news for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers is that Son Heung-min (£10.0m) returns from injury and starts for Spurs, as does team-mate Eric Dier (£4.6m).

Cristian Romero (£4.9m) and Giovani Lo Celso (£5.9m) also feature in the XI having returned from quarantine, while the injuries sustained by Lucas Moura (£6.5m) and Steven Bergwijn (£6.0m) in the Europa Conference League keep them out.

Japhet Tanganga (£4.6m) is suspended after his red card in Gameweek 4.

As for Chelsea, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.9m) suprisingly starts with Edouard Mendy (£6.0m) absent from the squad.

Andreas Christensen (£5.0m) also gets the nod, which means Cesar Azpilicueta (£6.0m) will be deployed as a wing-back with Reece James (£5.6m) on the bench.

N’Golo Kante (£4.9m) returns from injury but Jorginho (£5.9m) and Mateo Kovacic (£5.1m) are preferred in central midfield, with Kai Havertz (£8.3m) and Mason Mount (£7.4m) supporting Romelu Lukaku (£11.6m)

Toney owners - do you plan to keep thru his tough spell?

    Thought he was excellent yesterday....

I'd need to downgrade to a Watford attacker / asm / Armstrong....

    Thanks

What a disappointing set of 7-8m midfielders at the moment.

    Current team is 3-5-2

    Sanchez
    TAA, Shaw, Livramento (White, Semedo)
    Salah, Jota, Greenwood, Raphinha Benrahma
    Antonio Ronaldo

Was thinking of Gallagher (from Jota or Greenwood) and upgrading defence to Man City/Chelsea (with Lukaku) over the coming game weeks saving a million or so with Ronaldo)

However, 3-4-3 may be the better formation? If so I will WC GW8.

Or i could swap between 3-5-2 and 4-4-2 and do it slowly or for a couple of -4's

I also think Sanchez (apart from Bachmann) is the weakest 4.5 keeper. Guiata, Ramsdale and Raya doing better and don't like many 5.0's

Which formation are you going with?

Yeah they really have been a pain haven't they? I WC'd into a 3-5-2 thinking I'd take advantage of these forward playing mids at non-premium prices, and i had a good week last week. But not because of my plan. Defense, Salah, and Ronaldo was all that was needed.

I may not abandon it yet but i like a 4-3-3 possibly, relying on the better defenders, a couple of key premiums, and not keeping so much cash in midfield. A bit like Andy Social's squad.

Problem is, i don't like the 3rd forward options too much, which is why i was set on Ronaldo and Antonio and the 3-5-2. Adding Lukaku makes 3 forwards a no go for me, but just Ronnie and Lukaku by themselves seems doable....but that means sticking to 3-5-2, or doing something wierd like 5-3-2.

Yeah 5-3-2 takes the fun out. IMO. I still like Bamford/DCL et all when fit so 3-4-3 with one of Chelsea/City/TAA is still viable, But Greenwood has got the Ronaldo effect, Jota never scores when i pick him lol, and Torres has been disappointing. My Midfield atm would be Raphinha (Fitness), Gallagher, Salah, but beyond that, ONE midfielder upto 8m , or 4-4-2 can be 2x Man City or 2x Chelsea

Maybe an Arsenal or Everton mid?

Arsenal i am staying away from. They just don't have reliable FPL assets yet. Gray seems to be on the up and up, Rafa wants Everton to attack, but then they get rolled by Villa. They didn't play poorly though.

I didn't get Raph and Benrahma when i should have. I wouldn't be in the spot I'm in if i had.

Feel like Jesus is flying under the radar a bit (at least here, 8% ownership is more than I expected). He's been in such a great form recently. Playing on the wing seems to suit him well.

Things which can be taken from GW5

Spurs and Wolves assets are like dead assets.

Leeds assets are still popular but wait for GW6 and an exodus.

Arsenal seem to be getting better.

Ronoldo is hogging all UTD points.

Lukaku was a massive troll. Tuchel and Pep are likely related.

Pep screwed himself and all City assets owners over

    Salah remains FPL King

Spurs and Wolves assets are like dead assets. True

Leeds assets are still popular but wait for GW6 and an exodus. Wait on injury news.

Arsenal seem to be getting better. True that (but i think one of Burnley/Watford/Newcastle and Norwich will go down)

Ronoldo is hogging all UTD points. Very true (and always let one goal in)

Lukaku was a massive troll. Tuchel and Pep are likely related. No, Still think he gets more than Ronaldo at the end of the season.

Pep screwed himself and all City assets owners over. Yes, but he loves Cancelo, Dias

Salah remains FPL King until GW7 🙂

I get TAA, James, Shaw, Semedo, all mid-premium priced attacking defenders from defensively solid teams on my WC.

Livarmento 4.0 against Man City gets me 3 more points than all of them combined.

How to spend 1 FT and 0.9 ITB?

    Sa - Steele
    TAA - James - Shaw - Livra - Williams
    Salah - Raph - Saka - Sarr - Allan
    CR7 - Jimenez - Antonio

Shaw -> Cancelo next GW, not sure who to get rid this week or save?

Some early thoughts re next week... Hold Ferran or worth moving on for Sarr or Raph? No longer a huge fan of the Wolves triple up after performance vs Brentford

    Sanchez

    TAA, Duffy, Coady

    Salah, Jota, Torres, Traore

    Ronaldo, Bamford, Jimenez

    Subs: McGovern, Christensen, Dier, Mendy
