Three attacking FPL defenders who have caught my eye for Gameweek 6

Stevie of EyeTestFPL spotlights three Fantasy Premier League (FPL) defenders that caught his eye in Gameweek 5, using ‘eye test’ screenshots and information from our Premium Members Area.

Ricardo Pereira (£5.5m)

In the game against Brighton and Hove Albion, Brendan Rodgers set up in a new 4-3-3 formation which involved playing James Maddison (£6.8m) at right wing whilst deploying a solid three-man midfield consisting of Youri Tielemans (£6.4m), Wilfred Ndidi (£5.0m) and Boubakary Soumare (£4.9m).

Even though Maddison started out on the flank, Rodgers would always envision him playing more centrally and so, in this new formation, Ricardo Pereira was encouraged to push further up the pitch to provide the width.

Maddison’s central positioning was important in making sure that Leicester never ran out of passing options in midfield.

However, in the second half, as Leicester were chasing the game and needed more directness, Ademola Lookman (£6.0m) was brought on for Maddison.

After the tactical switch, Pereira almost immediately struck a chord with the new signing as Lookman would often make runs down the right channel.

Leading up to Jamie Vardy’s (£10.4m) goal, Lookman made a similar run down the channel before combining well with Pereira.

There were also glimpses of the Pereira of old when he attempted to make an inside run into the box which was unfortunately not spotted by Lookman, who instead chose to take a pop at goal himself.

Between the two full-backs, Pereira (left) was clearly given more freedom to roam forward than Ryan Bertrand (£4.9m) (right).

Bam > Antonio worth a hit? Bench options are Christensen or Dier.

Yes. If Antonio plays like he has in most games he will score two maybe three goals.

    Bottomed.
Have Bamford red flagged, Raphinha orange flagged. On the bench I have Ayling orange flagged, Brownhill yellow flagged, and Tsimikas unlikely to play.

Dont really want to wildcard this week. Only 1 FT. Take out Bamford and risk Raphinha with hopefully Brownhill to back him up?

Same predicament. I'm holding WC and will use FT to replace Bam (or Ayling if we get some news before deadline suggesting grounds for optimism that Bam could be back soon). Might consider a hit for Raph if we get bad news on him.

    A) Save and just play Marcal
    B) Raph to Benrahma
    C) Raph to Gallagher

    Ramsdale
    Trent James Dias Livra
    Salah Raph* Gray Sarr
    Ronaldo Lukaku

    Options
    a) The obvious option: Bamford > Antonio
    b) The expensive but obvious: Bamford > Lukaku which ties up all my cash itb and all my midfield except Salah are low to mid-priced
    c) The differential: Bamford > Armstrong as per spot the differential option - gives me loads of cash (e.g. Jimi > Lukaku next week)

There's a new one from the presser today.

I’m sure it’s the most common question on here but who to lose first Torres or Bamford?
Got the former on wildcard last week and happy to correct that now.
Would likely be Sarr as Raphinha a doubt too (own Salah Jota Gray Gilmour)
Or is it better to ditch Leeds despite their fixture run and save money for a city defender in gw8?
Own Lukaku and Antonio already. Maybe Armstrong??

I tried to be clever to hold future transfers but I’m behind the pack on 314 points so trying not to fall further back and looking like a city defender is more important for gw8

Armstrong is probably the guy I’d get but next week they have Chelsea so it’s either now or wait 2 weeks holding Bamford vs Sarr in midfield

    2. Amartey Partey
      • 4 Years

I would sell Torres. Bamford should be back next week. Torres has tough fixtures and rotation risk.

You can stil have Cancelo in the 343.

Why do you need to know why Raphina is better in a midfield 4?

Cancelo is a better pick than Raphina so not sure what you are asking?

      1. sandman58
        • 5 Years

        Have TAA and Rudiger
        With 3 cheapies in defence
        No city cover
        Have Raphinha at the minute
But selling him for a 4.5 allows me to upgrade Williams to Cancelo
Basically stuck on whether to stick...or twist

The why not just ask Cancelo or Raphina?

I would rather have Cancelo in a back three compared to Rapinha in midfield irrespective of the formation.

          Cancelo will outscore Raphina.

Does it matter how he’s worded the question? Yes he could have just said Raph or Cancelo? But there’s really no need to pull him up on it.
Just typing Cancelo would have been so much easier

ASM of those, I'm starting to warm to Armstrong, great run of fixtures outside of Chelsea next week.

Timing...see post on next page. Dennis comes with a caveat because he’s so cheap....aka as an enabler...so offers better picks in other positions.

If he scores again this weekend his price will rocket as an enabler.
