As they prepare to face Burnley at the Etihad Stadium, three Manchester City players form the spine of our Gameweek 8 Scout Picks.

After Sam, Az, Neale and Tom submitted their Scout Squad selections earlier this week, we have chosen our best players ahead of tomorrow’s 11.00 BST deadline.

We line up in a 4-4-2 formation and come in at £82.9m, just under our £83.0m budget.

GOALKEEPER

Xhaka and Moura recalled as Ramsdale starts again

After a promising second half of last season yielded nine clean sheets from 23 games, three of which arrived in the final five, Arsenal have conceded just once in the four games since Aaron Ramsdale (£4.6m) was installed as first-choice goalkeeper. During that time, they have kept three clean sheets and given up just two big chances, fewer than any other Premier League side, while Ramsdale’s +1.10 expected goals (xG) prevented total ranks fourth amongst all goalkeepers so far. Now, the England stopper will be keen to build on that against Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace on Monday.

DEFENDERS

Wolves City dugout

With the news that he is available for Saturday’s early kick-off following injury, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m) is clearly one of the best defender picks on offer in Gameweek 8, with potential for a clean sheet and attacking returns. A possible route to points may come via set-pieces, with opponents Watford allowing 2.7 xG from dead-ball situations so far this season, while they also rank 18th for crosses conceded from their left-flank. Given that Alexander-Arnold’s 17 successful crosses and 2.56 expected assists (xA) are both league-leading totals amongst all defenders in FPL, he could be set for another big week.

Should start more than he doesn't but could be the one that's pulled around 60 mins if they need a goal because Wolves have plenty of options to play his spot

Hwang is as nailed as Jota was. New coach is building the team around his partnership with Jim (think of Mourinho with Kane and Son), according to direct quotes from Bruno and Hwang in FFScout articles a short while back

Hold that cash. If Son is asymptomatic, you might want him back soon anyway

Start Duffy this week. Not optional, imo. Definitely do not sell him now

If Hwang was the same price as Jimi, would you switch? Feels like a sideways move for someone more expensive, just to avoid having funds ITB

      Hold that cash, start Duffy

Cheers lad. Appreciate it. That was my initial plan as well. To perhaps so mount->son when fit again. Still, these son news are only rumors, right?

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 7 Years
          4 years, 1 month ago

Yup, still rumours. I have him and I'll just wait until GW9 to get confirmed news. Raph and Luiz are my only viable subs. Also gotta find out Rudiger's absence length

Too much is unknown for me to do much right now

Easier on your WC, so just hold and stay flexible. The rest of your team took a lot of deliberation. Don't undo it just to spend funds

Yes, thanks! Whatever the case is with son, he is latest in my team for gw12. Money in the bank secures the easy one ft move. Have been contemplating the other lads' ideas here in the comments as well. All really good. Tough decisions :D. Might have to do a new post woth the different options đŸ˜€

I’m on a WC and the Rudiger & Son situation have messed things up big time. What would you do with this current team?

    Ramsdale Foster
    Rudiger Dias Cancelo Livramento Duffy
    Salah Son Gray Raphinha Brownhill
    Lukaku Jimenez Toney

    I’m thinking one of these:

Rudiger Son OUT TAA Mahrez IN Gray Son OUT Mount Mahrez IN

It's a very good side, problem is you have 14 solid starters, so will face the inevitable benching headache but if you're fine with that then it looks good to me

I think its a solid team and considering you have Foden and go Christensen instead of Azpi/Rudiger, strong bench like yours is a necessity. I prefer Ramsdale as GK though. Gluck.

    Good morning managers!
On WC atm, what do you think?
    Remsdale
    Cancel TAA Dias Christiensen
    Salah Raph Mount
    Lukaku Toney Antonio
    subs: Mbeumo Livermento Brownhill
Dont know why but thinking to go Foden instead of Mount but would probably need to downgrade Toney to Armstrong.

    Thoughts?

People love one week punt, differentials, unknowns because they want to feel the rush of FPL. They love tinkering 24/7 because its like a drug. They love to overthink. They love unnecessary hits cause its like a gambling.
On the other hand, legendary managers rarely play risky. They play boring and safe. Often save free transfer. Pick proven players. Thats the difference between consistent legendary managers vs us

Rudiger to Christensen the safe play this week?

Not enough funds to go Cancelo.

I'd say so if it is a Chelsea defender that you seek, just be careful you don't sell Rudiger and then go back next week to bring him back and find your sell value in him was low compared to what you'd pay for him back.

Yeah fixtures are strong. Could take a hit to get Cancelo, but playing safe this year.
