Broja benched as Hasenhuttl opts for Adams and Armstrong up front

Gameweek 11 gets underway at St Mary’s Stadium tonight as Southampton play host to Aston Villa.

Kick-off is at 20:00 BST.

Southampton, who have taken seven points from their last three matches, make just the one change as Stuart Armstrong (£5.8m) replaces Nathan Redmond (£5.9m), who missed training this week and is isolating.

That means Che Adams (£6.8m) and Adam Armstrong (£5.9m) lead the line again, with popular budget forward Armando Broja (£5.0m) a substitute after overcoming an ankle injury.

As for Villa, Dean Smith makes three changes from the side that lost 4-1 to West Ham United in Gameweek 10, as captain Tyrone Mings (£4.9m), Axel Tuanzebe (£4.5m) and Anwar El Ghazi (£5.7m) come in for Kortney Hause (£4.4m) and Jacob Ramsey (£4.5m), who both drop to the bench, plus the suspended Ezri Konsa (£4.9m).

GAMEWEEK 11 LINE-UPS

Southampton XI: McCarthy, Livramento, Bednarek, Salisu, Walker-Peters, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Elyounoussi, S Armstrong, Adams, A Armstrong

Subs: Forster, Lyanco, Long, Perraud, Broja, Djenepo, Tella, Diallo, Walcott

Aston Villa XI: Martinez, Cash, Tuanzebe, Mings, Targett, Nakamba, McGinn, Bailey, Buendia, El Ghazi, Watkins

Subs: Steer, Young, Hause, Philogene-Bidace, Chukwuemeka, Archer, Davis, A Ramsey, J Ramsey

How many of us will end up with Cancelo 2 pointer and Livra on bench?

Utd under Ole are overrated. That Pool game should have told you a lot.

I’m just afraid that Cancelo fire it all midweek

Relax. City are winning that game and Cancelo is a beast.

Thinking of doing Vardy and Hwang to Kane and Davis. I have the exact money and Kane likely to rise.

Hear me out... Hwang's and Kane's fixtures both turning, one for better, one for worse. Have bench headaches most weeks.

Here's my team now, would you do it?

    Ramsdale Foster
TAA Cancelo Chilwell James Dias Livramento
    Salah Son Foden Mbuemo Brownhill
    Vardy Toney Hwang

Yeah. 3 great fixtures for an attacker.

You have too much at the back, if you want Kane, downgrade Dias

Or just get rid of one of the defenders lol

If Livramento was playing for Chelsea you would be disapointed.

As if 6pts were worth 20 because he is cheap

Basically Chelsea defenders get a lot of points

But Chelsea defenders aren't as cheap as Livramento

Keep coping without the Livra points, casual.

I decided to auto sub Livra in myself by starting him ahead of Azpil and Cancelo 🙂

I got a point from Davis

Plenty of ones pleased they benched Livra. Bizarre behaviour tbf. 6 points is no massive haul but it's more than acceptable and seems to be fairly nailed week on week.

Good player to have in teams for sure. Makes the choices harder however each week.

Thoughts on these moves if push comes to shove as I have the exact funds for:

Azpilicueta & Benrahma to Reguilon & Jota

    Sanchez
    TAA Cancelo Reguilon (Livramento Duffy)
    Salah Son Jota Raphinha (Brownhill)
    Kane Toney Hwang

Benching Livra was the right choice if you have even a semi-respectable squad. The bench points are great - he holds/increases in value further

Opted for Duffy over him but may still get him with Azpi and Cancelo to come, always let fate decide in Livramento points

I know Cancelo still has to play, but anyone else rolling there eyes at a last minute, play him ahead of Livra, because why have him if you’re gonna bench him … despite Livra with better fixture .. and being delivering …. Meh.

It's only 4 points (a single return) for Livramento, I think you'd gamble those 4 points for an opportunity to play Cancelo vs anybody

I’m not convinced Livra even had the better fixture. Let Cancelo play before this stuff

Which was my caveat indeed Redro … but I think Livro is a genuine first 11 pick … and yes, Cancelo has a very big upside … I’m just wondering if I’m still being swayed by the ‘play your best player’ mindset.

I don’t think so - that’d suggest the decision was wrong. The outcome might turn out to be but the decision was not. We have to remember it was less than a fortnight ago that Liverpool treated Utd like they were Norwich and rested their best players before beating them 5-0 on their own turn. Cancelo could go nuts.

Cancelo did just get 3 assists in the CL midweek
Villa had scored in their last 6 games
So probably was worth the trade-off on balance IMO

Yup. It’s rarely we get a 4m real option. So I agree, ultimately you got to play the players you would trust season long and take a few MEH moments over the course.
