Mark and Luke look ahead to Gameweek 20 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) in a bonus video over on our YouTube channel.

The pair discuss Boxing Day’s deadline drama, their decision to opt against playing the Free Hit in Gameweek 19 and when they plan to deploy one of these two allocated chips in the future.

Manchester City rotation roulette, Bernardo Silva‘s (£7.6m) blanks and the pair’s plans for Aaron Ramsdale (£5.1m) are also on the agenda.

You can view their hour-long chat in the embedded video below or via this link.

    Best moves for me?

    Rudi/James > Regi

ESR > Moura (can’t afford Son)

    Bernardo > Maddison

Anything I am not seeing as obvious?

    DDG,
    James, Cancelo, Rudiger, Trent,
    Bilva, Gallagher, Salah, Jota
    Antonio, Dennis,

    Ramsdale, Watkins, Teirney, ESR,

    .7

    1FT.

I would do Rudi to Regui
Chelsea cs hard to come by nowadays but James still got chance for attacking returns

Cheers, good move, hence top question.

        Maddy or Moura for who?

I think you’re a week early on the Bernardo to Maddison move. Like the other two moves. I think I’d hold the Chelsea defence for Brighton however and move on ESR. Moura or Gray as a replacement.

Realistically need Spurs cover so good move.

Leicester love playing the big six, they had City worried in second half!

Hi folks. This how I currently stand with 1ft and 1m itb

    DDG
    Trent, Cancelo, James, Alonso, Dalot
    Salah, Foden, Jota, Bernardo
    King

    Sanchez, Broja, Lacazette, Martinelli

    Considering:

    A) Martinelli to Gray
    B) Lacazette to Dcl
    C) Lacazette and Martinelli to Scl and Moura
    D) Save ft

Concerns over Bernardo playing and also Dalot if he plays full game tonight.

The fixtures is the appeal. Not sure they have many alternatives at the moment and need results after their poor run. I reckon he gets 60 minutes or so

Benitez talked about being forced to play DCL for 90 minutes, in his pre-Burnley presser before the postponement

They have nobody else. He'll have to recover his fitness on the pitch

Getting Ait-Nouri on WC21, but I wouldn't pick Sa over DDG, and he's too expensive as the BB2 keeper for my squad

So I'm gonna ignore Sa for an uncomfortably long while, and then probably get him by GW29 or so

Very, very tricky. If Dalot's nailed, he'll be the best in hindsight. But I wouldn't be sure of that until after GW20

If not Dalot, then someone will win out of this unpromising list: Dier, Sanchez, Guehi, Mitchell, Lamptey

What to do here? Can field 10 but no keeper and no bench… and subject to additional postponements ofc. Have both FH… 2FT 0.0 ITB

    Ramsdale**
    TAA Cancelo James Reguilon Livramento
    Salah Foden BSilva ESR Gallagher
    Dennis
    (Foster** Lacazette** ESR** Watkins**)

    Kinda want Jota, for one…

What are my best moves for me here?

Got 1FT and 1.1m in the bank, was initially planning on KDB > Salah (did Salah > KDB this weekend, but considering I'd probably be getting rid of Salah for AFCON, is there any point in that move now?)

    Bachmann
    Rudiger - James - Cancelo - TAA
    KDB - Son - Jota - Bilva
    Dennis - Broja

    Ramsdale - Lamptey - Laca - ESR

I'm in the same situation. Honestly, I have a bit too much faith in KDB, as I still see him as the asset he was 2 seasons ago. I'm surprised he came off vs Lei, as I figured he'd sit the Brentford mach out.

      1. Kodap

Really can't decide, if KDB gets a decent haul against Brentford & looking at their team news, it looks highly likely.. I wouldn't even really need to bring Salah back in. Downside is that everyone who FH will now have him back..

I trust Salah more 100%. Do you have plans for CR7? I'm trying to avoid him as I don't like the value of premium forwards. But there's a big possibility that if he hauls tonight I'll have to reconsider due to the captaincy. And in that case, I won't really be thinking of Salah

I'm waiting until tonight to see what happens, a big haul from him tonight would not be ideal, but the majority of people in my ML's who have him are on FH, and would have to make multiple moves to bring him in.

I am not optimistic about tonight but hope I’m proved wrong. That 4-0 loss flattered city. Newcastle were very good for some parts of that and were also very good in their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in the game before. Really don’t see this as a straightforward win for United at all.

Actually they have played well for parts of games and then fallen apart in others

A strange team but vulernable at the back. I don’t see it high scoring game but that’s more because the way I have seen united play attacking wise recently

      I own all three.

Jota is a rotation risk BUT Leicester concede so many shots in the box, and Jota has so many of them. Feels like good cover as a non-Salah owner. Also, Liverpool were poor in the first half in the EFL Cup vs Lei. Bobby started that game. Jota came on at half time with Milner and Konate and the game completely changed. Leicester will sit deep and play on the counter attack. I think this means Liverpool could start with all 4 forwards, with Bobby at cam. Assuming Fabinho is available, that’s what I assume the line up looks like.

Trent - more secure starter and Leicester have conceded tonnes of chances down that side of the field recently. I think Trent is actually the bigger beneficiary of this than Salah.

Sons odds of a haul are much wider than Jota’s. So I think owning him is enough.

Congratulations, outfield team seems solid enough, I’d maybe just do Ramsdale to de gea/loris

Congratulations! Save and reassess nearer deadline. You are in a good position with that team. You could get Son in for ESR by downgrading Laca but I imagine you would be hesitant on taking a -4

Cheers Milkman. My instinct was Laca and ESR out for a -4 and play with no keeper. Think I’ll decide with a clear head tomorrow.

Congrats.Team looks ok. You have Salah and most top 1K have ditched him. Could be a huge advantage as Leicester were brutal in defence. Save FT if no news.

      congrats on the new baby!!

id sell Laca for sure and bring in some cheap striker, maybe Antonio
also maybe time to move on from Bilva....

but based on your rank, you should probably be giving us advice!! 🙂

If GW22 is the big DGW most will WC in GW21 to BB right? So avoid hits and field 11 is the objective for now.

It's such a big DGW that you may not need to WC if you start planning now.

My current plan is to build using FTs + couple hits for BB22, WC 24/25 to reset team and get Salah back

      1. FredrikH

Think WC21 to have a strong BB could be worth. Still have 2 non playing GKs, 3 city, 2 Chelsea, 2 arsenal. That will be many hits instead of just burning it early for a strong BB. Getting Salah back will most likely just be one hit anyway.

On another note 3rd pool asset for the doubble? Firmino?

But there are some of those SGW players you wouldn't dare lose. For example, no way am I selling Cancelo just to get a DGW player. Ramsdale is the same - he has his own doubles down the line, plus I've got a lot of value tied up in him. If you assess with that lens some of the others, you'll have 5, maybe 6 transfers to make (2 or 3 hits) over the next 3 GWs.

Not sure I'd want a 3rd Liverpool asset with COVID tbh, but if I went there, yeah Firmino, maybe Robbo.

I BB in GW16 and my bench got me 28 pts... BB on double games rarely works out because many players only play one game at most one and bit games.

Double Chelsea defence, feel like moving on from 1 is a good decision, with Brighton and Liverpool next. Thoughts on

    Ramsdale+Alonso > De Gea+Reguilon -4?

not bad, maybe keep Alonso for one more? Or do you need the funds for Ramsdale to DDG?

Yes thats my usual strategy too. However I'm going for mini league win and cash. So thats why I thought it may be worth it. I would have to go with no keeper, but I also usually don't take a hit for a keeper. Thoughts?

        1. sulldaddy
          • 15 Years

I guess its really a short term vs long term priority choice then. Taking cash in mini league is nice. you will have to decide your priority as teh TC now will cost you overall rank etc later.

I wouldnt take a hit to swap a keeper, although you have the funds to bring in pretty much anyone. maybe DDG is a good long term swap. And would also get you points tomorrow.

Very good points. I think the bragging rights in my mini league are almost worth it. Although of course winning the whole year is more important than the half year. Also how many games are called off...sighs...

          Currently looking at:

          Sanchez, Foster
          TAA, Cancelo, Reguilon, Dalot, Livramento
          Salah, Jota, Foden, Madison, Martinelli
          Ronaldo, King, Broja

I think Foden is the main gamble. Will use the Salah -> Son funds to upgrade Broja, possibly to Antonio
