Captain Sensible

Who are the best FPL captain options for Double Gameweek 21?

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers face another tough captaincy decision for Double Gameweek 21, with several viable options for the armband.

First, we will assess the fallout of the captain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 GMT deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

Jarrod Bowen (£6.6m) is the leader of the captain poll in Double Gameweek 21, with 38.89% of total votes from our users at the time of writing.

Team-mate Michail Antonio (7.8m) sits in second place, backed by 34.26%.

Son Heung-min (£10.5m) occupies third-place with 8.33%, followed by Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) and Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5m), with 4.63% and 3.7% respectively.

SON HEUNG-MIN AND HARRY KANE

Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 9? 5

Under Antonio Conte, Spurs are clearly on an upward trajectory, having won four and drawn three of the Italian’s seven Premier League matches in charge. During that time, they have scored 13 goals, averaging just under two expected goals (xG) per game.

At Southampton on Tuesday, Harry Kane – who traditionally enjoys a New Year’s Day fixture – scored his third Premier League goal in as many Gameweeks from the spot. It could have been more, too, after his goal from a Harry Winks (£4.4m) pass in the second-half was narrowly given offside by VAR.

However, it is worth noting that Southampton performed well up until their sending off, with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side pinning the visitors in their own half for large parts.

As for Son, his performance was not up to his usual standards, but having picked up the assist for Kane’s penalty, he has now produced six attacking returns across his last five starts.

Up next for Spurs is Watford, who have now lost their last five Premier League games in a row, with their latest defeat a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of West Ham United. During that period, they have conceded two or more goals in each match, in a run of form which suggests Son and Kane can both be good captaincy picks in Double Gameweek 21.

Would would you replace James and Foden with if you had all the usually suspects (Bowen, Son, 3x WHU)?

    Gray, Keane/Regulion?

Gray & Emerson/Reguilon long term. Keane seems like a DGW21 player only.

If he gets DGW22. I am skeptical about back to back GWs getting handed out because there is so much COVID that fixture congestion injuries can't be easily afforded on top of that.

Seems like Ben Crellin plans to take -8 to gamble that Everton gets DGW21 & DGW22 (DCL + Gray in). For the 2x FT, he plans Bowen + West Ham defender (Dawson) for a West Ham triple up though (Antonio). So no Keane in that squad even with the potential double double.

I think I'm edging towards Keane over Dawson. Two decent dgwks back to back & always seems a goal threat. Any thoughts? West Ham simply the better team so Dawson the better pick?

Both have decent goal threat. Both playing for less then watertight defences, West Ham better team in general but Everton could have double double.

Bit of a coin toss really. If you have West Ham assets like Antonio and Bowen, might be worth going Keane to avoid a triple up and potential postponement

Can't believe I'm thinking of taking a -8 and not buying any DGWers.

James, Bernardo, Laca > Ronaldo, Davies, Moura

I already have Bowen and Antonio and I want to setup a better team for 22 BB. Everton players are tempting but Gray is a doubt and their defenders are all pretty poor picks.

Who from Everton do you think is worth buying? Doucoure? Gray? Keane? DCL? I don't really like any of them much.

I thought about Moura, but he always trolls. Doucoute I don't trust. But I don't trust even myself atm. See below 🙁

I think Keane might be decent. At least we know for sure (at the moment anyway) that he has 2 decent fixtures this week and a good chance of DGW22 also with even better fixtures. I'm weighing up my options, looking at maybe offloading Laporte or Dalot.

DCL is a bit of a punt due to his lack of match fitness but it could pay off. Great fixtures, proven asset, low ownership, DGWs... A lot in his favour.

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I have a midfield and defender slot. Keane and Gray are the options but they are pretty poor picks outside of the double. I think I'd prefer triple Spurs.

    4. Viper
      • 14 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

I'm going for Keane & Gray I think.

Gray trained so I think he'll play given his influence. Keane is one of those that always seems dangerous in the box and always gets a couple of goals a season. It's definitely a bit of a roll of the dice though

Foden news now has me favoring Foden out and holding Silva just to have a sure starter. Allows more funds for DGW transfers too.
