We have chosen our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 26 ahead of Saturday’’s 11:00 GMT deadline.

We line up in a 4-3-3 formation and, as ever, are limited to an £83.0m budget – which we’ve hit bang on this week – for our starting XI.

Our four substitutes, meanwhile, are always picked from the budget/cheaper crop of players, not to serve as bench fodder but to give some alternative options who don’t cost as much as some of the names in our line-up.

We’ve made two changes to our team from the ‘bus team’ of earlier this week, with a Burnley forward and a Liverpool defender replacing teammates in the Scout Picks XI.

GOALKEEPER

Xhaka and Moura recalled as Ramsdale starts again

Aaron Ramsdale (£5.1m) has been in fine form for Arsenal this season, keeping 11 clean sheets and conceding just 16 goals across his 19 Premier League outings. Since making his debut in Gameweek 4, the England international is averaging 5.3 points per match, more than any other goalkeeper who has made more than one appearance.

His +5.20 expected goals prevented (xGP) tally is another league-leading figure, as are his 12 bonus points, and he’ll be facing a Brentford side who have scored just five goals in their last nine matches and a Wolves outfit who have the division’s third-lowest goals tally.

DEFENDERS

Such is our confidence in the Arsenal backline, who have five clean sheets in their last six matches at the Emirates, that we’ve doubled up on the Gunners rearguard. Kieran Tierney’s (£5.1m) points-per-match average is one of the best among FPL defenders this season (5.5) and the best since Gameweek 15 onwards (8.0), a purple patch that has seen him plunder four attacking returns and six clean sheets in eight outings.

The first of our bus team changes sees Virgil van Dijk (£6.7m) come in for Andrew Robertson (£7.1m). Partly influenced by budget, it also has a lot to do with security of starts: the Reds’ two Double Gameweek 26 fixtures are sandwiched by the Champions League and the EFL Cup final, so there is every chance that we may see a spot of rotation both this weekend and next Wednesday to ensure that fatigue isn’t an issue ahead of that Wembley appearance. Kostas Tsimikas (£3.7m) could easily get a run-out at left-back, then, but van Dijk hasn’t been benched in the league in any of his last four seasons on Merseyside. A threat of his own from set plays, the Dutchman is joint-second among defenders for attempts from free-kick and corners.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5m) joins van Dijk in our selection and, while everything that we said about Robertson also holds true with his fellow full-back, Alexander-Arnold can still do plenty of damage in whatever game-time he is afforded: he sits top of the defender standings, having returned two goals, 10 assists, 28 bonus points and 12 clean sheets across the season so far.

Wolves’ double-header is far from straightforward, with fixtures against Leicester City and Arsenal, who rank sixth and seventh respectively for actual goals scored. However, their standout strength under Bruno Lage has been their watertight defence. Across the season so far, their 17 goals conceded is bettered only by Manchester City, while no other side in the division has conceded fewer goals from open play. It’s also worth noting how vulnerable the Foxes have looked defending set-pieces this season, which could be good news for Romain Saiss (£5.0m), one of Wolves’ main aerial threats.

Are many people here considering wildcarding now or changing their entire plans with the DGW28/29 fixtures? I wasn't planning on using TC (using BB) but my plans for this week haven't changed a bit, and really the only thing that has changed going forward is that I have more definite and narrowed-down targets for future weeks. Loads of people on Twitter that seemed dead set on TC Salah are suddenly completely changing their minds, and I understanding trying to adapt to different situations but changing your mind to that degree so late on in a week feels very risky.

If someone was planning on taking a -12 or more and TCing Salah then I think they're right to switch to considering a WC instead.

Outside of that scenario, less so.

To an extent I can understand it, but if it's someone that has gone in with the idea that there will be no TC opportunity as good as Salah this week and also with wanting to hold WC / planning to use it later at a specific point, to me it looks like it's not worth it. -12 could well be recouped with a good TC and good doublers while having a further way to restructure your squad later on. I feel like a lot could get sucked into solely eyeing up doubles and ignoring general long-term planning.

It's an option though, calculated gamble on series of DGWs. Could pay off yet still some risks.

True enough. I guess I just see a lot of people here with far more detailed and longer plans than ones I ever make and I'm surprised to feel like I'm being one of the more patient ones!

Not sure about Twitter peeps, but I was dead set on BB, and might switch to TC now that a GW28 BB looks equally appealing. Late info for sure, but much better than those last minute Covid stories we we were dealing with until recently!

New info of DGW has thrown in other options than Salah TC. If you've got time to work out then it could be tempting. For those who do not want to bother now, they will keep the plan and WC28 for example, to have some space of thinking. It's team dependant and chips availability I presume.

I have Salah but I know see upside, its admitting defeat b4 this week begins. His EO will be so high with TCs, I think it makes more sense to hope he stays quiet and go for a differential. As the others said, TAA might be a better pick then Saka.

For this week only, I would say Saka.

Son is a good punt, but he's playing Man City who are defensively great and Burnley who haven't shipped more than 1 goal in the last 4. But then Wolves have only conceded 3 in their last 5 games so will Saka be able to score?!

Are we thinking Dennis is going to score more than 2 points in each of the DGW games though based on his last 6?
Maupay has been scoring 5 or 6 points against lower green teams, his only 2 and 1 points coming against Chelsea and Man U in the last 6.

    -8.

I got Jota for 7.5 so value being shred but he is prob gona drop .2/.3 realistically.

Be mindful Arsenal blank next GW but if you have bench players, you can bring on for that GW, it might be worth a -8 for the points you will probably get from your arsenal players this GW.

I'd consider using one in GW 30 unless you WC and save a FH for past GW 30.

Whether you use one GW 27, depends on the rest of your team bearing in mind Arsenal and Liverpool blank in 27.

There is a case for 27 then I've 9 in 27 if I went for Rams over Sa and did FH in 27.

Digne Laporte, Cancelo Gallagher Bruno Bowen Jimi King Dennis
