Suspensions

Which FPL players are nearing a two-match ban?

It’s been a while since we brought you a Suspension Tightrope article but with a handful of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players nearing 10 yellow cards, it’s worth reminding ourselves of the repercussions for anyone who reaches this unwanted target.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF A PLAYER GETS 10 YELLOW CARDS?

Dennis sent off as Watford collapse in FPL Double Gameweek 23 opener 2

Any Fantasy asset who collects 10 cautions in the Premier League before their team has completed 32 fixtures will serve a two-match ban in the same competition.

Beyond that point, the threshold moves up from 10 to 15 bookings. Anyone reaching that tally will be banned for three matches.

Punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

PLAYERS ON 8/9 YELLOW CARDS

There isn’t a great deal to worry most Fantasy managers just yet, as all of the above players have an ownership under 5% in FPL.

Matthew Cash (£5.1m), the third most-bought defender of Gameweek 28, is on the above table, however, as is semi-popular bench fodder option Josh Brownhill (£4.3m).

Among the cluster of FPL assets on seven bookings are Emmanuel Dennis (£6.1m), James Tarkowski (£4.9m) and Bruno Fernandes (£11.7m).

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

As we mentioned in the introduction, the yellow card threshold is raised to 15 after a team’s 32nd league fixture.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Gameweek 32, however. In fact, for many clubs, this will mean Gameweek 33 or later due to the backlog of postponed fixtures – and there’ll be more of those to come in Gameweek 30 thanks to the clash with the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Keep your eyes peeled on our Suspension Tightrope widget on our home page over the coming weeks and months, as we’ll be updating that after every Gameweek to keep you informed on the latest disciplinary developments.

    A. Gray > Fraser -12 and play BB

Took a break from all FPL related stuff and now I am out of the loop.

What is the story with Jimenez? Was he just rested or is there more to his benching?

Really tempted to take a -12 hit this week, which I've avoided all season because it always feels like a step too far.

So I'm looking for someone to talk me out of this basically.

    Team:
    Sanchez, Sa
    Lamptey, Mee, TAA, Cancelo, Dias
    Saka, Salah, Son, Bowen, Moura
    Dennis, Broja, Weg

    Considering -

    Mee > James
    Dias > Rudiger
    Moura > Mount
    Bowen > Ramsey

Have the exact money to do this atm

Skip the first one unless you are sure James starts both Chelsea games? You can bench Mee and he has a reasonable fixture in 29 plus most likely unconfirmed fixture in 30.

James & Rudiger are long term picks but will mean you’ll play 4 defenders every week
Spurs have double - Is Moura not nailed? I wouldn’t know - don’t follow spurs
I also think Bowen high points are at an end, so move on
Big question, would you play all 4 and expect them to return more than the players you already own
You have a huge benching headache with 8 attackers

Looking to do VVD + Weghorst to Rudiger + Adams/ASM (-4) and BB.
Also like to punt on Willock, but would mean a -8 and don't know who to ship out for him.

    Dubravka (Ramsdale)
    TAA - Gabriel - Coady - Saiss - (VVD)
Salah - Ramsey - Coutinho - Son (Saka)

          It's a gain in GW28, but in GW29 it's

This, too short sighted. Burnley could easily score against Chelsea, a CS is far from nailed there. And Saka could haul v Watford. Adams isnt exactly setting the world alight

Don't like Foster, Bowen, Gelhardt or Williams picks tbh. I would personally consider using some of that money ITB and do:

      Silva/Rudiger over Kilman
      Raph over Bowen
      Broja over Gelhardt

Planning to BB28 but really confused whether to ship out Ramsdale for another dgw gk as i really like both dgw gk on BB. My other GK is dubravska who can play in dgw29 so i dont really need ramsdale next gw.

    A: Keep Ramsdale (wat)...range:2 - 9 pointer
    B: Ramsdale >> Foster (-4) only if watford play in 30. range: 4 - 14 points
C: Ramsdale >> Mendy (-4)...and move to Scheimchel in gw30 (LT move)
D: Ramsdale >> Forster (-4)..only if saints play in gw30
    E: Ramsdale >> Meslier (-4)

    Kane, Broja

    (Ramsdale, Hwang, Livra, Robbo)

Lorra love for Willock on here. Are people getting him in with the genuine expectation he'll pick up points (given form and fixtures) and/or using him as a £ makeweight for more expensive players?

He should be nailed for the double and can be moved on easily.

Flashbacks kicking in to him scoring in 7 games in a row. I can see why the double double is tempting in comparison to someone like Bowen though

    Afternoon all,

Hoping for a big DGW28 to help make up some lost ground over the last month or so.

    Current team;

    Sa**
    Bednerak** Digne** Ait Nouri** TAA
    Raphinha** Countinho** Son Salah
    Broja** Jimenez**

    Forster** Mee Saka Weghorst

    1FT and 3.4 ITB

Will most likely do Mee to Rudiger which will give me 10DGWers and a strong Bench Boost team.

Anything else you would suggest? Thank you!

Nice team, have you wild carded recently or built that team gradually?

Ait Nouri might be a rotation risk reading some commments on here today.

      No City cover?

Wilcarded a few weeks back mate.

I know.. Not too happy with that, unfortunately.

No City cover but will most likely bring a player in within the next 3 weeks or so. Have to pray Cancelo keeps shtum.

I brought in Coady for Wolves defence coverage.

          I’m a Kane, Ramsey guy

          Your a Son, Coutinho guy.

One of us will come out on top….good luck!

I might sound mad but Wood, 2 nice fixtures, home game and Southampton dont keep many cleansheets

Jimenez is apparently topping the RMT scores but I'm in the mood for Kane (C). BBing with Jimi & Broja also up top

    Best replacement for Reguilion?

    A) Thiago Silva (no gw30 fix)
    B) Kilman (has gw30 fix)
    C) KWP (if gw30 fix confirmed)

    Ramsdale
    TAA Cancelo Tierney
    Salah Raph* Ramsey* Cout*
    Kane Broja* Jimi*

    sanchez bowen lamptey reguilion

All good options... think B if you need a starter in 30 (not FHing?), otherwise A

Thanks, could have 9 or 10 gw30 players without a hit so saving FH, WC and BB for gw31-38

No che def is a risk but its an extra 4pts down the road to swap out for a gw30 starter so feels like a wolves (or sot) def is the smart play

Would like some help here guys. Planning to BB next GW.

    Was thinking Weghorst > Jiminez/ASM/Watkins

Is it worth doing Son > Salah for a hit..?

    Sa
    TAA Cancelo Saiss
    Son Raph Saka JWP
    Kane Broja Weghorst

    Dubravka KWP Digne Ramsey

    TIA

Thoughts on this wildcard (* DGW)

    Foster
    Cancelo | TAA | Rudiger*
    Salah | Willock* | Raph* | JWP* | Ramsey*
    Broja* | Kane

    Ramsdale | White | Wood* | Saiss

Then JWP to Saka* following GW
