The best Spurs players for FPL Double Gameweek 29 and beyond 3

-13.80 expected goals prevented (xGP) by Illan Meslier (£4.8m) in 2021/22. In layman’s terms, the Leeds United goalkeeper has conceded almost 14 more goals than data providers Opta deem that he should have based on the quality of the shots that he has faced. That figure, unsurprisingly, is the worst in the division.

149.4 minutes per expected goal involvement (xGI) recorded by Matt Doherty (£4.7m) since Antonio Conte took charge of Tottenham Hotspur in Gameweek 11. No other FPL defender can beat that, with even Son Heung-min (£10.8m) only just bettering the figure (145). Doherty has been involved in seven Opta-defined ‘big chances’ in just 496 minutes of pitch-time under Conte, with four falling to himself and the other three created for others.

9 chances created in four appearances by Matt Targett (£4.7m) since he made his temporary switch from Aston Villa to Newcastle United in January. Only Liverpool’s two full-backs have supplied more opportunities for teammates over their last four matches.

5 big chances presented to Jan Bednarek (£4.4m) in 2021/22, a tally unbeaten by any other FPL defender. All of these opportunities have, in fact, arrived from December onwards, with his total of 12 shots in the box in his last dozen appearances only beaten by two other Fantasy defenders.

Who is the best third Liverpool asset to own during AFCON?

I went for a bit of a crazy wildcard to climb into the top 10K. It has paid off this week (so far) but I definitely need to make some changes, any recommendations/thoughts please!

    Sa, Foster
    Trent, Robbo, Cancelo, James, Rudi
    Salah, Ziyech, Maddi, Bowen, Ramsey
    Jimenez, Broja, Gelhardt

Fix your strikers to find a route to Kane. I assume Gelhardt is just third choice bench fodder?

Gelhardt was a bit of a punt after Marsch comments about him and Bamford still being out, plus kinda fodder yeah (even though I still have BB to use).

I was adamant to not get Kane/Son and oh my did it back fire. I even had a team where I had Son in as well. Fuming with myself.

Jinemez & Ziyech - Kane & (how much left? Kulusevski/Martinelli/Gordon)

Becomes Kane and a measly 5.7. I could pick up Odegaard. Although I could also go Cancelo to Doherty which gives me 7.5 so could go Saka instead but that's a -8 instead of a -4

Think I'm going to hold James to be honest. Chelsea have no Azpi, Chilwell or Alonso currently. The only defender they have capable of playing full back is Sarr. I reckon he misses Norwich and will be re-evaluated for Newcastle. He may feature in UCL but will 100% get rested in FA Cup given it's Boro

Azpi and Alonso back in full training apparently and James ruled out for 4 matches it seems

This. Azpi & Alonso are back.

Holding James depends on your strategy through to 31. He's out for 2 weeks minimum.

If you can bench him in 29, and 30 (or FH), there is a chance he could be back for 31. However... that time frame overlaps with UCL 2nd leg etc - do will James be saved for then? Probably.

Good case to sell, good case to hold. Depends on your team. OP has Jimenez, Gelhardt, Bowen, so has to deal with these. Selling James could be a way to do that, but equally may choose to hold whilst they sort them. Not an ideal spot having just played the WC tbh.

Ahh, I must've missed the Azpi & Alonso comments. Gutted as I had captained James this week. I will probably hold because I just used the WC.

Thinking Jimi & Ziyech > Kane & Odegaard (depending on tonight's performances) will re-evaluate after all of this evenings games, especially Sevilla v West Ham! COYI! Will give an indication to Bowen's situation too

Honestly doubt it will impact the players much at all. But that's just my opinion.

I’d like to think that’s the case but if they can’t sell players, renew contracts, sell additional tickets or have away expenses in excess of £20K it’s going ti have some impact. I think the performance at Luton showed that the Russian association and uncertainty over the club had some impact.

Early days and hopefully we get some clarity before GW31.

Hard to know, but less fans and uncertainty for staff and also players on short contracts may have an impact. At the very least it's a distraction especially with question marks over whether they can travel to away games in Europe and up north

With only season ticket holders in attendance it will make for a strange atmosphere. I think motivation is high for most players though with all the turmoil going on.

I'm not sure regards away games yet. I'm a member myself and was planning on getting West Ham home tickets Monday, fortunately have tickets for the Newcastle game though.

My team is below and I have 0.3m in the bank:

    Sanchez, Ramsdale
Trent, Cancelo, T Silva, Digne, White
    Salah, Diaz, Raphinha, JWP, Ramsey
    Kane, Broja, Pukki

I have made up my mind on JWP to Kulusevski with my free transfer this week. Anything else worth a -4? I was tempted by Diaz to Saka but think I will save that move for GW30 and keep the four points.

    Do one thing this week:
    A) Play Weghorst
    B) Play Broja
    C) Cancelo to Doherty for a hit (and bench Weghorst and Broja)
    D) Bowen to Kulu for a hit (and bench Weghorst and Broja)

      A. Both teams need to win, and Brentford aren’t exactly great at the back - I’m starting Weg and expect him to score in a 2-2 result (or something thereabouts)

  7. NATSTER

I have never had this situation before. I've been considering -8 for DGW and it could all be Defender transfers.

    A: James + Digne + Cancelo -> Doherty + Tierney + Robbo
    B: James + Cancelo + Ramsey -> Doherty + Robbo + Martinelli
    C: James + Digne + Coutinho -> Tierney + Robbo + Kulu

    Any plan worth -8?

    1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 3 Years
      2 years, 1 month ago

As a Tierney owner I'm actually planning on moving him on soon, I think there's more upside to their attackers, wouldn't be too keen on bringing in Arsenal defs this week with Leicester and Liverpool the opposition. B probably looks the best of those to me but I'm also not too sure Robbo is fully worth it, I think they'll concede (maybe even in both games) and then he blanks, and then faces City in GW32

      1. NATSTER
        • 13 Years

Agree. Actually, if Digne is back starting, I’d be hesitated to sell him and then no room for Robbo.

I would scale it back a bit personally & just choose one of Doherty/Tierney to tide you over through 29-30. Cancelo should be back by 31 & James 31/2 and honestly I dont think the short-term replacements available are of the same calibre. Also depends on when you bought Cancelo - when I realised I got him at 6.1m it put me off the short-term sale

6.3 for me. I kept him last week and sold another def for James. I hope for good news about his illness, so I can keep him.

    Jimmi to Kane
    Ruddiger to Amartey
    Sais to Davies. -8pts :(.

I think I really need to get Kane asap. Also gives me an additional player for 30 if Amartey plays?

    Any thoughts??

FH team for GW29 looking ok?

    Dubravka
    Robertson, Trent, T.Silva
    Salah(c), Son, Kulusevski, Martinelli, Fraser
    Kane, Lacazette

    Subs: Holgate, Amartey, Richardson

Not sure on double Pool defence. What about Doherty for his double and a game in 30?

I'd be fine with double Liverpool defence. Agree Silva > Doherty could be usakeful, although he currently has triple attack.

Also he is FH-ing. GW30 is not a consideration.

I think Silva is unnecessary in a FH29 team. Will know more after today but he could be rested in 29 due to UCL 3 days later, for example. Also, he has no double.

Fraser I'm not sure on. One of the fixtures is Chelsea, but not a terrible shout.

    This a decent triple LIV/ARS/TOT wildcard, y'all?

    Ramsdale (Foster)

TAA / Robbo / Doherty (Amartey, Kilman)

    Salah / Saka / Kulusevski / Raphinha / Barnes

    Kane / Lacazette (4.4)

    A) Kilman (eve)
    B) White (LEI,LIV) -4

Thoughts on WC much appreciated, I was all set however taking James out somehow resulted in 4 other transfers...

    Dubravka
    Taa White Doherty
    Salah Raphinha Kulu Saka
    Laca Kane Broja

    Schmeichel Couthinho Kilman Amartey

GIves me 9 doubles this week and full team of 11 playing GW 30 (if Amartey and Doherty keep their spots like, is that likely?)
Then will have 2 FT before GW 31 for any issues.

Thoughts appreciated, on squad and players/bench for this week too!

Is Schmeichel because you have a BB left?

      There's likely better options.

Just cheap at 4.8, plays GW 30 with decent fixture, and then not bad run in from 36 onwards.
I have 1 FH & BB left, above is using all budget.

Expect we'll probably get some woolly non-committal answer from Pep but I expect he'll be back GW31. I'm still starting him this week on the off chance he's asymptomatic & recovers quickly (cameo unlikely)

Is it safer to play into 2 Arsenal home fixtures, than 2 Spurs away?

Or ia the expectation that Spurs play up at Manchester United and Brighton are struggling still?

Seems like home/away matters less to Spurs than whether the opposition sit deep, and Man Utd looking to be positive & bounce back will play right into their hands imo. Actually feel theres more goals there than BHA, despite the latter's wobble.

With Arsenal, I think home advantage gives a slight boost compared to Anfield, but again I think the opponents high defensive line could be most relevant. Have a sneaky feeling Arsenal beat Liverpool, or maybe ends sth 2-2. Leicester game will probably be similarly high tempo, high scoring

I agree on Spurs that Old Trafford is the more attractive fixture for attacking returns.

So on that basis, which is sound Arsenal assets likely better picks than Tottenham Hotspur next gw!

Anyone still have 2 FH, WC, BB chips?

If yes, what’s the ideal plan?

I think you need to decide yourself.

I'd FH across gw30, wildcard after that in gw31 for the rest of the season with 1 eye on a dgw BB but not for that purpose, probably in gw33.

You absolutely don't want to obsess about 15 doublers.

With a FH in the pocket for a dgw or to attack the best options on final day squad surprise week.

Best move here. Playing 1st of my 2 FHs next week. My only chips left 1.0ITB

    Ramsdale
    TAA, Cancelo*, Rudiger
    Salah, Son, Rapha, Bowen*, Martinelli
    Weghorst, Broja
    Watkins, Mee*, Kilman

    1A) Bowen to Saka.
    B) Mee to Doherty
    C) anything else

    2) Play Weghorst or Watkins or both?

    Thoughts?

    Ramsdale
    Trent • VVD • James
    Salah(TC) • Son • Coutinho • Saka • Raph
    Wood • Broja
    (Foster / Jimenez / Saiss / Kilman)

Thinking James + Jimenez -> Doherty + Laca(-4). Should I pull trigger or not? Would give me 9 doublers this week and 10 players for next week

Depends on your team set up for gameweek 30. I have 8 players at moment so for gameweek 30, it’s Doherty for James this week. Then prob James for Digne gw 31

And while we’re at it. What about sanctions due to the thousands of dead immigrants building stadiums ahead of the upcoming WC.
Finally sports and politics are mixed (a powerful way to sanction nations, regimes, leaders etc.) who act in terrible ways.

UK exchequer got a lot from Chelsea's influence over the years but now they'll sanction him as a big statement whether or not he is for the war. Going against Putin meant ceasing to have your wealth and/or freedom so being in support of him in the past is not evidence that he is for this invasion. Many reports suggest this is Putin's dream/legacy and he doesn't give a monkeys what the rest think. He is a Dictator after all.
Perhaps they should work out how much Chelsea's success has contributed to the Premier League Brand and donate that amount to the Ukrainian cause, along with arm support and take in some refugees
This is easier, and makes more of a global statement. Bravo
