Our Suspension Tightrope article takes a look at the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players who are nearing a two-match ban for the accumulation of 10 yellow cards.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF A PLAYER GETS 10 YELLOW CARDS?

Dennis sent off as Watford collapse in FPL Double Gameweek 23 opener 2

Any Fantasy asset who collects 10 cautions in the Premier League before their team has completed 32 fixtures will serve a two-match ban in the same competition.

Beyond that point, the threshold moves up from 10 to 15 bookings. Anyone reaching that tally will be banned for three matches.

Punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

PLAYERS ON 8/9 YELLOW CARDS

There isn’t a great deal to worry most Fantasy managers just yet, as all of the above players have ownerships of under 10% in FPL.

The in-form Ruben Neves (£5.3m), whose Wolverhampton Wanderers side are one of just eight clubs in action in Blank Gameweek 30, is just one booking away from a ban, as is the injured Leeds United full-back Junior Firpo (£4.7m).

Matthew Cash (£5.2m), the most-bought defender of Gameweek 30, is among the cluster of FPL assets who are two cautions away from the unwanted target.

Bench fodder options like Josh Brownhill (£4.3m), Oriol Romeu (£4.5m) and Yves Bissouma (£4.4m) are also part of this group on eight bookings.

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

As we mentioned in the introduction, the yellow card threshold is raised to 15 after a team’s 32nd league fixture.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Gameweek 32, however. In fact, for many clubs, this will mean Gameweek 33 or later due to the backlog of postponed fixtures.

Keep your eyes peeled on our Suspension Tightrope widget on our home page over the coming weeks and months, as we’ll be updating that after every Gameweek to keep you informed on the latest disciplinary developments.

    Thoughts on...

    Broja, Adams, Son -> Kane, Toney, Kula (-8)

      Wait and see how spurs do on weds. If Son continues to be off the boil, it may be worth considering moving to Kane

      I have been thinking of moving Son on to free up cash to further beef up my mid and also defence. I would also have Kulu.

      This lets me bring in Kane if I want and strengthen the team all round.

    Which one to compete XI for GW30?

    A. Rudiger + Broja => Cresswell + Toney -4
    B. Rudiger + Gordon => Thomas + Maddison -4

      Selling Rudiger for a -4 is a no from me.

      Not for me. Prefer to keep Rudiger beyond GW30.

      Also options don't appeal. Cresswell was injured in the last game and Leicester have Pereira and Justin available which could see Thomas drop to the bench.

      Defo not a FH.

      Only 6 and under would I consider.

        • 15 Years

        It's not just the number, but the names too. I've played FH with 6 plus 1ft. I didn't have Coutinho, Saka, Leics mid, Lacazette orToney for instance, and they are all now in my team. The players I would have been willing to sell, would only have got me Toney of these. I now have 15 gw30 players, with seven changes from the team I would have played, had I not taken a FH. Also, let's not forget, the fact you may have 7 now, doesn't mean will have once deadline passes.

            Just the FH. I wasn't suggesting you should play yours, merely pointing out that it's not just about how many players you have, but how explosive they are. In your case I think the hit you are contemplating is fine. But as I said, it won't guaranteeing you 9 starters, where a FH should guarantee 11, which is often overlooked.

            1. Simon69

              Just curious as I'm in the same position with one FH chip left. Projected points with FH of over 50 versus 30 ish without... I'm still not convinced 36 will be as big as predicted with more youth team players getting opportunities over the coming weeks.

          Exactly this, no good having 8 or 9 players that are playing terrible etc. I have 8 but that includes RAN who may not play and Raph who is Raph. Defo playing FH.

          True on the players but most of them are Arsenal and Spurs who are good to play.

    Best move here? Currently have 10 starters.

    A) Salah -> Son (Son -> Salah next week if fit)

    C) Save FT

      I am considering Wood or Broja to Gelhardt to free up funds for the following week. So it's a yes from me. However, I fear that Bamford and Rodrigo may dent Gelhardt's minutes long term more than I like. But he seems to best fwd fodder now.

    Coady - Johnson - Rudiger
    Saka - Kulu - Raph - Ramsey
    Watkins - Kane - Weghorst

    Best defender upto 4.6 for 30 (and probably potential BB in 36)

    Alonso/Broja > 4.6/Toney

    Already have Kilman, Davies & Ramsdale for 30.

    Brentford CB worth a punt for set pieces v Leicester?

    1. The Mentaculus

      Not sure if I'd want a Brentford CB that long, even parked on bench. Wolves have Chelsea (A) & Spurs have Liverpool (A) in 36 so that prob just leaves Arsenal if you're strict on those criteria

        yes slim pickings - I'm more inclined to just roll the FT tbh and go with 8.5 players. White is the only real option (though I'll be at the game and really not wanting an Arsenal CS!)

      If you were playing a FH this week, how many of them 8 players would you put in it? Its one thing having 8/9 players, but if those players are poor or have tough fixture then its worth considering FH. I have 8 players playing with 1 FT, could get to 9 but I'd pick maybe 3 of them on a FH if even.

    Originally planned to use one of my FH chips in GW30 but I’m seeing more and more people saying they’re going through with 7-8 players. Is there a better week to use them?

    Current GW30 players with 1FT.
    Ramsdale
    Doherty
    Kulusevski
    Saka
    Martinelli
    Raphinha

      That looks decent, but with 2 FHs left its probably time for a bit of long-term planning. Have a look at the projected DGWs 33/36/37 here:

      And see whether you think you can gain more ground FHing in an extra 4 players this week or targeting alternative players (from your main team) for these doubles

    This thing about Chelsea not being allowed to sell tickets. Could they just give tickets away in order to fill the stadium?

      Yeah I think so. I think they can give them away to the travelling team as well

      And then i sell the ticket. Could be a profitable business

    That's par for the course. Most important is to have 15 starters, and if you got a doubler or two on the bench that's a good time to use it. I am a little better of but that's mainly due to Ramsey, which is just lucky really . Past years I've been between 12 and 20 points.

    It could be worse, btw! I saw a guy hitting out Cucho and Ramsey to set up a good bench boost . Imagine the agony...

    Got 7 players for GW30 assuming Digne and Antonio are out.

    Would you?
    a) Free hit
    b) -4 for 9 players (toney and barnes in)
    c) -8 for 9 players (a defender for Digne)

      B unless Digne out for a few GWs and you want the defender for the run-in

      Definitely save the free hit for a big double game week. Minus 8 I think is best.

    Cash the best replacement for Digne ?

    Have Doherty and Saiss.
    Cheers.

      Not for me. Villa's next 5 games are so tough they're ranked behind some teams with only 4 fixtures on the ticker

      Seems the best like-for-like although Arsenal defence worth considering too?

    Advice appreciated chaps - 1 FT, 1M ITB, no FH or WC left.

    Ramsdale
    Saiss, Doherty, Digne*
    Kulusevski, Saka, Ramsey
    Kane, Watkins

    (Foster, Salah, Havertz, TAA, Robertson, Broja)

    A) Digne -> Cash
    B) Digne -> Tierney/Gabriel
    C) Broja & Digne -> Toney & White (-4)

    Edging towards C? Arsenal fixtures look better than Villa and keen to get rid of Digne & Broja...

    Cheers

    Another disaster GW, slipped down anther 10k to 43k.

    Digne nice autosub for Willock if he is a no show for the 2nd Newcastle game 🙂

    Still a chance of a green if Cancelo starts and can put in a double digit haul, come on Joao!
