We have chosen our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 31 ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

We line up in a 4-4-2 formation and are limited to £83.5m for our first XI.

Our four substitutes, meanwhile, are always picked from the budget/cheaper crop of players, not to serve as bench fodder but to give some alternative options who don’t cost as much as some of the names in our line-up.

GOALKEEPER AND DEFENDERS

The best FPL goalkeepers for a Double Gameweek 26 Free Hit 7

Jordan Pickford (£4.9m) and Nick Pope (£5.4m) were both in the goalkeeper conversation this week: they are third and second respectively for projected points in the upcoming Gameweek. Everton’s league-worst away form gave Pope the edge in our eyes, with the Toffees to come to Turf Moor after the reigning champions hand the England international the opportunity to rack up the save points on Saturday.

With question marks over whether Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.4m) and Reece James (£6.1m) will be rushed back into Premier League action given the double-headers against Benfica and Real Madrid that await, Andrew Robertson (£7.3m) and Joao Cancelo (£6.9m) are the stand-out premium defenders this week – although it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that one of these two pricy picks gets a benching, with one eye on Tuesday. Third and fourth behind only a certain Egyptian and Alexander-Arnold for FPL returns this season, Robertson and Cancelo will also be up against the two teams who have scored the fewest number of goals in 2022.

So would be a 4-pointer to get Cancelo in? B) for me...!

No, have to get Cancelo in, in 2 moves. It's either:

        A. Jimenez to Weghorst and save one transfer, Kilman 1st sub if TAA is out.
        B. Jimenez and Kilman to Gelhardt and Cancelo. Broja 1st sub if TAA is out.

I like it as long as you have some cover if James doesn't play

        Nouri and Johnson :/

    2. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 8 months ago

Not sold on this one, Raphinha have 2 very good fixtures, and Tierney you know will start. And when i see who you got coming in, i would adress those issues first. Nouri and Johnson with Coufal back and Nouri not regular, thats a no. Tierney also a double in 33, and James plays Real Madrid twice with Southampton sandwiched in between. High risk of bench and with those two you can risk being down to 2 defenders playing.

    Bench one:

    1. Doherty
    2. Kulu
    3. Martinelli
    4. Gordon

    4. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 8 months ago

If you base the opinion on what happened just recently, Tuchels wording after he played 60 minutes instead of 30 vs Liverpool, and that Real Madrid games are far more important, the answer is about 30 minutes as a sub.
But what we dont know is what state he is in now and what the medical team at Chelsea tells Tuchel. When he came back last time ut was a hamstring, grade 2 i think, and now it was a muscle injury. If the first one is resolved then the risk of aggravation is less. The muscle injury is perhaps more difficult in terms of risk of fatigue, but the risk of 45-60 minutes are less than a hamstring related injury.

    Have a benching headache this week, which three to bench;

    A) Holgate (WHU, BUR)
    B) Kulu (NEW)
    C) Romero (NEW)
    D) Rudiger (BRE)
    E) Broja (LEE)

    1. Vjm6891
      • 5 Years
      3 years, 8 months ago

      Definitely pick Rudiger to play.

I would probably pick Kulu as well

      Bench the other 3.

However if you think Broja starts then him and Rud.

Thanks! Think I’ve been blinded by Holgate’s double, but Rudiger probably the better bet.

    2. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 8 Years

Romero, that was not hard. Or Broja if you think he starts on bench. Holgate is ok to play.

      1. R_R

        3 years, 8 months ago

Need to bench three of them though - currently on Romero, Holgate and Broja

        1. bench boost for every gamew…
          • 8 Years
          3 years, 8 months ago

Rudiger is 6 pointer. KULU plays a much improved Newcastle defense, Romero is every thing between a goal or a red card, most likely something in between. Broja could be benched by Ralph. Holgate plays Burnley who cant score and West ham not that good lately. I would play Holgate and left the choice between Rudiger 6 pointer or Kulu.

Appreciate your thoughts! Regardless of opponent, I question Everton’s ability to keep a clean sheet so that’s causing some hesitation for me… nevertheless, I’m taking your advice and starting with Rudi and Holgate

    Sa/(Foster)
    Cancelo/Robertson/Rudiger/Tierney/(Ait Nouri)
    Mahrez/Salah/Son/Saka/(Ramsey)
    Toney/Broja/(Jiménez)
    103.2 Team Value - 2.9 bank - 106.1 Total Value

    ya like any of these?

    A - Jimi + Son to Kane + Kulu (-4 hit) 2.4 bank
Gives me some flexibility to get James/TAA
    B - Jimi + Mahrez to Kane + Kulu (-4 hit) 0.3 bank
    Load up on Spurs attack
C - Jimi to Weghorst (FT) 4.0 bank
    Mehh but huge future flexibility

Only for this GW - would you prefer the insecurity single gameweek of James, yet he has high ceiling
    or...
    Gordon with a DGW?

    Ramsdale
    TAA Rud Doherty
    Salah Saka Kul Coutinho Raph
    Kane Broja

Foster Jimi White Coady 0.1itb, 2 FT

Thinking FH33, BB36, FH37… based on this who should I prioritise?

  15. Vjm6891
    • 5 Years
    3 years, 8 months ago

    What to do with this.

    Ramsdale / duba

    Saiss / Doherty/ rudiger

    Raph / Salah / Barnes / kulu / Saka

    Laca / Kane

Sub: GK / ATI nouri / kilman / wood

Would like cancelo in bit that would mean changing a sticker or midfielder.
Could to Raph to Cornet? Or laca to weghorst?

Is Taylor (Burnley) for one of my wolves defenders worth doing?

    Or just roll transfer?

I wouldn't be taking Kane out. Is there a way to have Salah and Kane? Suppose option B is but you lose Barnes who has good fixtures.

Of the 2 then Weghorst is safer but the upside is definitely DCL.

        Salah, Saka, Kulu, Ramsey (Willok)
        Kane, Laca (Denis)

        A few options;
