Stevie of EyeTestFPL casts the spotlight on more Fantasy Premier League (FPL) options that caught his attention in Gameweek 31, using ‘eye test’ screenshots and information from our Premium Members Area.

James Maddison

Despite occasionally dropping deep to assist Leicester City’s build-up, James Maddison (£6.8m) remains one of their biggest goal threats.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s (£7.0m) presence is key to unleashing Maddison. Before the forward’s recent resurgence, much of the creative burden fell on the England international’s shoulders.

Now with Iheanacho in the side dropping deep and linking up play, there is less onus on Maddison to make everything happen for Leicester, which can unleash his attacking instincts more.

Though eventually ruled out because of a foul by Iheanacho, this goal was a good example of the Nigerian’s ability to draw defenders onto him which then set Maddison free inside the box.

The return of the full-backs, Timothy Castagne (£5.3m) and James Justin (£4.9m), also makes the Foxes a much more dynamic attacking unit.

The Belgian’s timed run into the box was such a genuine threat to Brentford’s defence that it pushed the whole backline further back, subsequently giving Maddison ample space down the centre to shoot from distance.

Despite only registering two penalty box touches and zero shots inside the box over the last four Gameweeks, Maddison is on top of his game at the moment and does not need too many chances to score.

The reason why I would prioritise Maddison over Harvey Barnes (£6.5m) is the former’s all-round ability to create chances as well as score goals. If the Foxes do find the net, there is a higher likelihood of Maddison being involved one way or another.

The Englishman managed to create four chances and one big chance in the match against Manchester United alone – a significant feat away at Old Trafford.

Without any hesitation in his mind, he managed to deliver an inch-perfect cross with his weaker left foot to assist Iheanacho’s goal. His willingness to use both feet in any situation speaks volumes about his confidence right now.

The small caveat for getting Maddison in our FPL teams is there are some rotation concerns due to Leicester’s European involvement.

That said, I would not be overly concerned as Brendan Rodgers would certainly welcome a stronger finish to a rather abysmal season by their standards and, with the occasional rest here and there, is likely to put out his best line-up in the league most of the time.

Usually like these pieces but the Tavares section goes nowhere - so he gets forward into channels - is there even one example of this creating an effective overload or breaking through Palace lines..?

      Vardy presser info:

For folk with WC and BB left, has anyone looked at the EV gain for BB33 v BB36/37 around WC34 so having the money spread around 15 players v main 11 on WC34

The way my team is set up mate I will only have only one player on the bench now that Teirney is out, so I will WC 34, then probably FH36, and Bench Boost 37, but could be the other way around.

Yeah in a similar boat as you losing Tierney. I could take a -4 and get rid of BB in 33 with Foster, VVD, James and Kulu

          I'm going to BB33 and worry about my 2 x FH's later.

With the likes of Broja, Roberts and possibly Schar if I buy him I'm looking for trouble further along the line I reckon.

BB chip is a hindrance when trying to attack 34-38. I'm either looking at BB33 or 37.

2FHs from 34 will be a headache especially when it can't be used in consecutive GWs

If you've got a reasonable bench come GW33 then you might as well go with it.
Assuming you have no WC left by the time you get to GW36 you might well have more fires to fight and a weaker bench.

I did a WC in 31 with Robbo Matip Cancelo Rudiger and White
I'm 100 points clear in my mini league but my rival has Doherty.
    Should I
    A) switch Matip for Doherty as a safety move? I'll sub Matip for City match anyway?
    B) not panic and roll trf ?

    Thanks!

    Pope Sanchez
    TAA Robbo James Tierney Doherty
    Salah Raph Saka Martinelli Ramsey
    Kane Weghorst Broja
    FH33, BB36, FH37
    1ft, 0.8itb

    A) Tierney to Laporte
    B) Tierney to Schar (would allow Martinelli to Maddison or Raph/Saka to Foden)

  15. Jonesfromthere

IF I did sell Salah for Jota, it would give me in a couple of weeks:

    Sa - Foster
    Robertson - Cancelo - James - Doherty - Amartey
KDB - Son - Jota - Saka - Dewsbury Hall
    Kane - Mateta - Weghorst

It is awfully tempting and with no chips/wildcard left the weak bench isn't a problem. Just not sure Jota gets the required minutes with Diaz such a threat. What Diaz brings, the others simply don't, whereas Mane/Salah/Jota are all inter-changeable.

    1. waltzingmatildas

Salah isn't interchangeable and him Jota or Mane will score more goals than Diaz. Could still be played with those three like Jota has played with Mane, Firmino and Salah.

As a 3rd bench option, just save the 0.1 and go Cucho. It could be his spot to lose but Roy has Pedro, Dennis, King and Sarr all vying for the front 3 spots.

I do prefer Mateta as I think he is first choice ahead of Edouard

Is Foden -> Maddison the best move here to prepare for DGW33? 1FT, £3.3m ITB.

    Sanchez, Foster
    Robertson, Cancelo, James, Livramento, Dalot
    Salah, Son, Kulu, Foden, Martinelli
    Weg, Broja, Dennis

    Thinking of the following move

    A. Tierney > Schar

This will provide me with bench cover, but who should I bench? Schar?

    Doherty / TAA / James / Robertson

    Kulusevski / Son / Salah / Saka / Havertz

    Lacazette

    Dubravka / Broja / Schar / Gelhardt

    Thanks
