Who are the best FPL captain options for Double Gameweek 36?

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are advised to target assets who play twice in Double Gameweek 36 when looking for their next captain.

Mohamed Salah (£13.3m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9m) have emerged as the two outstanding candidates, but are there any outsiders who are perhaps being overlooked?

First, we will assess the fallout of the captain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 13:30 BST deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

As expected, Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne are leading the captaincy poll ahead of Double Gameweek 36.

So far, Liverpool’s Salah has been handed 50.17% of total votes by our users. Second-place De Bruyne, meanwhile, has received 18.56% of votes ahead of his double-header against Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The top four is closed by two familiar names: Son Heung-min (£11.0m) and Reece James (£6.4m), with 6.03% and 3.19% respectively.

          Hahah, son has been an absolute rank killer, so like you I'm also looking at the Kane to son switch, plus son does well against these high line defences plus Richarlison is in good form, facing Watford & then two home games

      Potentially although will he got 180 minutes?

      He played 120 on Wednesday and with Ake and Zinchenko fit Pep might rotate his full backs for one game/ take off Cancelo early on.

      Agreed though - if he plays both it could easily be a 12 pointer.

      No because KDB or Salah could easily score 2 or 3 goals and a couple of assists in both their games and are more than likely
      to outscore cancelo by double or even treble The pts he may get.

        The thing is, the biggest scorer in a DGW has almost always been a defender (with the exception of Salah in 26). It might not be Cancelo, but I'm willing to bet it'll be a defender. It could even be someone completely random like Mina.

        Not sure how much cash you have, but something like Broja to Toney or Schar to Burnley defender would improve your 38 team (bench Dennis) Then you could use your gw 38 transfer to something like Coutinho to Raphinha.

    Options to get in Son with just a 4pt hit
    a) DCL & Kulu > 4.5m bench striker & Son - 0.2m spare and relies on Kilman playing for 11 DGW players or play Toney in his SGW
    b) Kane & Kulu > Richarlison & Son - 0.9 spare, but ditching Kane is scary, but probably better option with Rich's Double Double.
    c) Do something else like replace Kilman and go without Son.
    d) Save FT

    No FH left for GW37

    If I do this I need to keep Sa (or take a hit)

      To avoid using FH36 this is the only way if you have Kane IMO. Have same three players as you and this would be my move if I don't FH36. Only thing is, Kane was a good alternative to Son to free up an extra midfield slot. Doing this move loses that spot.

    My captain options are:

    1. Stick with the pack and go Salah
    2. Take a risk on KDB and hope he isnt injured/gets good game time
    3. Take a punt on Richarlison
    4. Go for a defender (most likely Cancelo or Trent)
    5. Go with Mount (good fixtures)

      Probably B because Jota minutes aren't assured.

      However, I'm not a massive fan of Richarlison. He's okay and Everton need to win but they've struggled to do that away from Goodison Park.

        Thanks. The thing with Richarlison is, I don't have any other forwards that look appealing (apart from Kane, who has poor fixtures and needs to go to fund KDB). I guess I could go with Nketiah alone up front and use the extra cash elsewhere to have 4 premium defence and 5 in mid?

        I'm leaning towards 1 because I'm not playing BB so Broja can sit on my bench quite happily
