Everton pick up another win thanks to a Ross Barkley goal at Dundee United. A Matt Etherington penalty is enough for Stoke to see off Sion, while both West Brom and Sunderland suffer narrow losses after spurning plenty of chances to find the net:

Seongnam 1 Sunderland 0
Martin O’Neill’s side slipped to defeat in their opening match of the Peace Cup. The Black Cats’ opponents are already midway through their domestic campaign and their superior fitness told in the end, though Sunderland can consider themselves somewhat unlucky after hitting the woodwork three times. O’Neill started with Titus Bramble and Michael Turner at centre-half, with Wes Brown at right-back, though the club’s official website singled out debut boy Carlos Cuellar (who looks a strong cut-option at 4.5 in FPL and 4.8 in the Sky Sports game) as their most impressive defender, after the former Villa man was handed his chance just after the hour mark. Fraizer Campbell and Connor Wickham led the line in a 4-4-2; the latter was handed 90 minutes and hit the post – as did Kieran Richardson – while a Craig Gardner free-kick rattled the bar. Despite their attacking endeavours, though, the Black Cats couldn’t find the net and sank to a somewhat undeserved defeat.

Sunderland Starting XI: Mignolet, Wes Brown (Blair Adams 72), Titus Bramble (Carlos Cuellar 61), Michael Turner, Jack Colback, David Meyler, Lee Cattermole (C), Craig Gardner, Kieran Richardson (Roarie Deacon 72), Fraizer Campbell (Ryan Noble 79), Connor Wickham.

Dundee United 0 Everton 1
David Moyes fielded a strong looking first XI for the trip to Dundee United as the Toffees scraped a narrow win in a rather uninspiring match. First-team regulars such as Tim Howard, Sylvain Distin, Phil Neville and Leon Osman all started from the off, while Jack Rodwell made his second successive appearance before making way for Marouane Fellaini at the break. Leon Osman impressed again after a strong display at the weekend against Morecambe, while Seamus Coleman’s right-flank raids tormented the Tangerines time and again – indeed, the latter had a hand in the game’s only goal, teeing up sub Ross Barkley to notch a late, late winner as Moyes’ men made it two pre-season wins out of two so far.

Everton Starting XI: Howard; Hibbert, Neville, Distin, Duffy; Coleman, Rodwell (Fellaini 46), Junior (Barkley 54), Osman; Anichebe(Garbutt) McAleny (Vellios).

Sion 0 Stoke 1
The Potters racked up a narrow win in the Swiss village of Saxon in front of just 200 fans last night. Tony Pulis gave Asmir Begovic and Thomas Sorenson 45 minutes apiece between the sticks, while Ryan Shotton got the nod ahead of Andy Wilkinson in the right-back slot in a match that saw as many as 20 players given game time. With Jonathan Walters still unavailable after his Euro 2012 duties, Kenwyne Jones partnered Peter Crouch, though it was Cameron Jerome – on as a second-half sub for the latter – who was the visitors most threatening attacking player, according to the reports. Left-back Marc Wilson came close to netting early on, while Matt Etherington sealed an impressive individual display by slotting home the winner from the spot late on in the first half.

Stoke Starting XI: Begovic (Sorensen 46); Shotton (Wilkinson 50), Upson (Collins 50), Shawcross (Huth 50), Wilson (Higginbotham 50); Delap, Whitehead (Arismendi (57), Palacios (Tonge 57); Etherington (Pennant 46), Crouch (Jerome 57), Jones.

Malmo 1 West Brom 0
The Baggies fell to defeat in Steve Clarke’s first match in charge but the result was something of an injustice, with the visitors in the ascendancy for the vast majority of the match. With the club’s Euro 2012 competitors still unavailable, Clarke opted for a mixture of youth and experience and, rolling out a 4-4-2 formation, handed Marc-Antoine Fortune a starting role alongside Peter Odemwingie up front. After his side went behind in eight minutes, the Nigerian – who was also on free-kicks – had plenty of chances to equalise before being replaced by debutant Yassine El Ghanassy midway through the second-half, while Graham Dorrans was a major attacking threat for the Baggies in a central midfield role. Liam Ridgewell also came close to scoring from a Dorrans corner after coming on as a sub at half-time but Clarke’s men paid for their profligacy as their Swedish hosts held out for the win.

West Brom Starting XI: Myhill; Jones, Tamas, McAuley, (Reid 63), Hurst; Jara (Ridgewell 46), Mulumbu (Mantom 63), Dorrans (Mantom 70), Roofe (Morrison 46); Fortune (Berahino 63), Odemwingie (El Ghanassy 70).

Phrases like "I'm sorry that you are upset" and "I'm sorry if you are hurt" contain the word "sorry" without apologising for anything you've done. Could work, depends how much attention she pays to what you say. Therefore try to distract her attention away from your words by presenting flowers at the same time. Say "I'm sorry if you are upset and hurt, that was not my intention, I want this to be the end of it, I thought you'd like these flowers. Ta daa".

Or, take the hard line and refuse to apologise. For heaven's sake though, don't seek relationship advice on a fantasy football scout forum. It's like asking a nun for $ex tips.

I think the risk with Cahill/Luiz is rotation with each other.

Why is there so little Ben Arfa love? He's now nailed on in a front 3 of a team that scores goals and his PPG was slightly less than Valencia's last season. Could see a huge score for his this season (likewise with Cisse). He is a good alternative to Cisse, as there are a lot of strikers in demand.

Newcastle are on a completely different level to Stoke! They might be slightly weaker at the back but not going forward. They played half the season without Cisse, and Ben Arfa hardly played at the start.

I'm strongly considering him, very good points scorer one he finally got himself nailed on in the 1st team. One of those players who can chip in with goals and assists if the team is playing well like they were . Also comes in at 7.5 which is cheaper than the 'top' midfielders yet I feel he can match/outscore the likes of Bale , Manu mids, etc

Use the extra cash to upgrade Ireland to Pienaar (if he goes to Everton) or Ben Arfa.
Maybe upgrade Hoo or Ness to a Swans defender.

      Being constructively critical:

      - Ness, no idea if he will play at all yet
      - S.Taylor, should play, but not guaranteed yet (Newcaslte after another CB as well)
      - Vidic/Mignolet - don't you fancy the De Gea/Turner combo, it's cheaper
      - Ireland, remains to be seen if he will play/look good

I do like the Petric punt, considering that myself.

In summary, not a bad template IMO, but definite room for tweaking.

Fulham have sold A johnson/zamora and lost Pog to reading, they picked up Petric but he was a free transfer so unless they sign another striker I can see Dembele being the most attacking of a MF5 and a very good option.

If he is the most attacking MF then yes, I would agree, will have to keep an eye on that.

It would be even more interesting if Frei gets that role, he's even cheaper than Dembele!

Fulham have a good fixture list first 6 games barring a trip to Old trafford so I like Schwarzer more than any other GK at that price, I don't make much use of goalkeeper rotation so I just choose the cheapest keeper available as a reserve, I'll change it closer to the season when I figure out whose most likely to play from all the cheap GK's.

I reckon it balances out - Cole more nailed on, Ivanovic more goal threat.

If Chelsea don't sign a RB, Ivanovic becomes much more attractive IMO.

I have him. Unless Chelsea sign another RB then his only competition is Ferreira 😆 as competition so should be nailed on. He'll have the attacking advantages of both full backs and CBs as he'll be up for corners as well as attacking from the wing.

He scored and created a lot of goals in Germany. He should do well in the Prem. Just depends if Fergie throws him in straight away. I am going to gamble on him for GW1.

What are people thinking about Chelsea's starting 11? I can see them playing:

    Ramires Lamps

    Martin Hazard Mata

    Torres

Malouda is likely to go and Sturridge/Mata likely to be rested first couple of weeks are Euros (and olympics for mata). Essien has struggled with injuries but could Mikel play with lamps and Ramires instead of Martin?

If Marting starts the first 2 games then he's gotta be in for 7mil.

Eh... keep changing my mind. Currently on:

    (DDG) - Federici

    Ivanovic (C) - A Cole - Hangeland - (Cuellar - Demel)

    Hazard - Sinclair - Pienaar - Maloney - (Noble)

    Rooney - Aguero - Pogrebnyak

1.5m in bank. Plan is Hazard -> Bale, then Cole -> Lescott - the extra money is in case Pog tanks or Petric/Graham/D Cisse/some midfielder hits massive form. Realise that I could get stuck with the 3 non-CHE defs in GW3, but not too fussed if it happens.

A first draft of my team with a solid defence, as it doesn't cost a lot more to upgrade the cheapies:

    De Gea------Federici
    Lescott------Terry-------Vidic---------Koscielny-------Hangeland
Ben Arfa----N'Zogbia-- Maloney---Valencia----------Pienaar (if at Everton)
    Tevez--------Torres------Pogrebnyak

I really like this. Tevez will start a lot of games (if not all, if he stays) - people were selecting Tevez over Aguero even when he cost more towards the end of the season. The defence offers a huge thread going forward, and N'Zogbia, Pienaar and Maloney will all have good seasons. Ben Arfa is going under the radar and is excellent value considering his team, position in the front 3 and the fact that he always produces and is a fantastic player.

I baulked at this selection initially but you're making sense, man. Some very nice differentials in there too if things go well. Tevez is an excellent point, people have written him off and lots of people have forgotten what a massive impact he had in the last few games in April/May, and he is far more of a provider than Aguero I think, goals aside. He's Johnny Bonus Points too. And a massive saving over Aguero. Vidic keeps popping in and out of my team!! Massive goal threat and no doubt he'll score the only goal of the game against us on the opening day of the season, probably an 89th minute header from a corner!!

As you say, fairly compelling and a little simplistic.

Personally I won't go near Tevez. After all he's made big trouble for two consecutive seasons now and Balotelli is a player rapidly improving who wants to be at the club. Even if Tevez gets to play, say 3 games in 5 (and I think I'm being very optimistic here) it's not enough to make me fork out 9m.

I completely agree, but I genuinely dont think they would have won it without him. For me its worth keeping an eye on him at 9m. His stats for the last 6 games are monstrous, no one else anywhere near him really. As for trouble, Balo is hardly a walk in the park! lol

I think Tevez could be quite frustrating this year, he seemed to make the difference for City in the away games - and if that's the niche he makes his own this season he ceases to be such a viable captaincy prospect.
