In exactly eight weeks’ time, the 2022 FIFA World Cup will get underway in Qatar.

While nothing has launched yet, you can bet your bottom dollar that there’ll be a Fantasy game or three to accompany the tournament in the Middle East.

The official FIFA/McDonald’s Fantasy game has been the main one that we at Fantasy Football Scout have covered in past World Cups; it has historically been quite similar to UCL Fantasy, with the ability to make substitutions and captaincy changes in between matchdays, but we await the relaunch of it and any potential rule changes for 2022.

Whatever Fantasy game is thrown our way, we’ll be covering it in as much depth as possible.

Part of that coverage will be the usual team-by-team guides on all 32 nations that are taking part.

While we’ll be spending the next two months brushing up on Qatar’s wing-back system, Saudi Arabia’s entirely home-based squad and everything in between, we’d love to hear from any of our readers who are fans of the countries taking part, are based in any of these nations and/or have a smattering of knowledge about the teams involved.

If you’re keen, fill in the short form below and select your country of choice (all teams bar England are available as an option).

If we follow up on your submission (and there is a chance that we may be oversubscribed for some of the more well-known/best-supported nations), we’ll send over a small number of questions – things like players to watch out for and a predicted line-up – closer to the start of the tournament in mid-November.

KDB plays Southampton next. Strange move with a FT? Bit of a waste really imo

Instead you could get rid of KDB and Jesus or Toney and bring in Kane and Foden

Thoughts on Perisic? I watched the Leicester and i thought he was poor... regardless of the assist. Hold or sell?

Hard to own. Not guaranteed minutes, but does tend to get in on the points when he does play. Luxury.

I think once a manager like Southgate comes out and says he's the right man for the job, I think even he knows he isn't.

Just made England reach final for the first time in 50 years. Could have won of course, but being England National team and all a final is better than the years before, eh?

I’m sure Trent will be back in most teams at some point but I’m happy to jump back on when he/they look like hitting a purple patch or getting back to their old ways.

Thiago makes the difference IMO. Without him Liverpool exposed on the flanks and easier to defend against from the centre of the park. He's back now - so can see TAA bouncing back into form. I've .5 ready.

Matip also a big change maker. A lot of games its hard to tell which one of him and Dijk is the best one. And Dijk considered to be best in the world in his position.

Would you WC this team now or GW13?

    1FT + 0.9 ITB

    Pope 3.9

    Trippier Cucurella Walker Zinchenko Neco

    KDB Martinelli JWP Aaronson Pereira

    Haaland Kane Jesus

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years
      3 years, 2 months ago

I like the WC13 strategy in general but to my eyes this team is pretty close. Threemium structure is closing you off to some of the popular buys like Maddison, although I guess Zaha is just about in reach. Not sure of Zinchenko's fitness & a couple of injuries could certainly tip you into WC now.

    2. Deulofail
      • 9 Years
      3 years, 2 months ago

I think I would WC in GW13 at the earliest. You can save the FT and then sell Jesus, Martinelli and maybe Zinchenko next GW, bringing in Mitro/Daka, Maddison/Zaha and maybe James/Chilwell. Then decide if GW13 or 15/16 would be best for WC.

      1. Deulofail

Alternatively you could take a hit this week, of course, since Leicester have a nice fixture.

    3. Limbo
      • 15 Years
      3 years, 2 months ago

No. Similar team —having that front line + KDB does mean you need to seek more value though so I'd downgrade two of Walker/Zinchenko/Cucurella to 4.4/4.5s and upgrade two MF to Zaha/Rashford if you can. So many good options at 4.5

I would love to contribute something to FFS for this but to be honest I hardly watch any international games outside of the big tournaments (and even then its mostly Norway atm). Wouldn't mind researching one of the minnows that no-one else volunteers for perhaps

He left the pitch early against Slovenia. It was probably only precautionary sub because he was injured before international break.

It was 1:1 when he left the pitch. Slovenia won 2:1 at the end. Norwegian coach probably wouldn't sub one of his best assets beside Haaland if there was no injury or precautionary rest after his comeback from injury.

              3 years, 2 months ago

Ah, so according to you. But I assume they planned for him not to complete the game. He played, so he's able to play minutes, so he shouldn't be yellow-flagged, unless he got a knock or something on the pitch. The fact he didn't play 90 mins isn't relevant to the yellow flag, as far as I know.

He did not leave the pitch bc of injury, but rather poor performence and as a precausien. Said to norwegian media that he felt nothing from previous injury.

Martinelli > Zaha next week. Potentially sell Jesus for a hit, too, this week or next, as you might want to bench only Haaland in GW12, so you don't have to play all 3 of Andreas, Schar and Neco, especially if Schar isn't nailed (I don't know much about that myself). Good for this week in general though

I remember paying about £2.80 for a wooden seat in the Stretford End at Old Trafford, around about 1989, kids prices.

We used to take a day rover bus-train pass to the edge of West Yorkshire with a cheap ticket for the final leg of the journey into Manchester. The conductors didn't seem to like it so we hopped onto the platform at Todmorden and back onboard the same train.

Benjamin Šeško is the next big thing. Premier League clubs will be all over him in two or three years and RB Leipzig could easily demand a huge transfer fee for him. I'm talking €150m plus. He has the potential to be up there with the best young strikers in the world alongside Haaland very soon.

He's looked good when I've seen him, impressed against Chelsea last week. Don't see a need to overhype him though, can't really compare him to someone like Haaland with such a ridiculous record and who's still so young

Not keen on Xhaka at this point. I get that he has more attacking license this year & is becoming a decent FPL pick, but on WC with the upcoming fixtures & blank I wouldn't go there

      1. Deulofail
        • 9 Years
        3 years, 2 months ago

Think it makes more sense to go for him now than after the blank, given that he's benchable at that price. Others are sticking with Martinelli or defenders, who require a greater investment to either waste on the bench in two or more weeks or you have to waste on the bench one week and pay in poor fixture(s) elsewhere. On a less convincing note, Xhaka can also pick up a goal from a direct free kick, which is something that relies less on favourable fixtures. With only 4 GWs after the blank before we reset again, he's a good way to get one of 3 Arsenal slots refilled, while others could be scrambling to get one or two back in.

That said, I wouldn't pick him.

Guess that's fair if you're aiming for Xhaka as your 3rd Arsenal player in GW13. Just figured he'd have more defensive work to do & may have to check his runs a bit in the next 2

Probably, though perhaps not too much with inverted fullbacks (Zinchenko could be back too), but Anish could cover the next 2 fixtures with Andreas, Guehi and Emerson. Not sure if he plans to.

I would start with KDB and swap to Salah a bit later if pool starts playing better

Toney probably won't make the bench tomorrow.

Just an intro to the squad and St. George's Park. Nice swimming pool and bar/restaurant tho.

    nor the Word Cup.
