In exactly eight weeks’ time, the 2022 FIFA World Cup will get underway in Qatar.

While nothing has launched yet, you can bet your bottom dollar that there’ll be a Fantasy game or three to accompany the tournament in the Middle East.

The official FIFA/McDonald’s Fantasy game has been the main one that we at Fantasy Football Scout have covered in past World Cups; it has historically been quite similar to UCL Fantasy, with the ability to make substitutions and captaincy changes in between matchdays, but we await the relaunch of it and any potential rule changes for 2022.

Whatever Fantasy game is thrown our way, we’ll be covering it in as much depth as possible.

Part of that coverage will be the usual team-by-team guides on all 32 nations that are taking part.

While we’ll be spending the next two months brushing up on Qatar’s wing-back system, Saudi Arabia’s entirely home-based squad and everything in between, we’d love to hear from any of our readers who are fans of the countries taking part, are based in any of these nations and/or have a smattering of knowledge about the teams involved.

If you’re keen, fill in the short form below and select your country of choice (all teams bar England are available as an option).

If we follow up on your submission (and there is a chance that we may be oversubscribed for some of the more well-known/best-supported nations), we’ll send over a small number of questions – things like players to watch out for and a predicted line-up – closer to the start of the tournament in mid-November.

VVD drops cause LFC no clean sheets and folks want Saliba

Silva and Cucu cause they are now Center Backs and keep No clean sheets

This could all change with injury recovery at LFC mids and with Potter at Chelsea

      Another fall...

      £ - $ = 1.05.

Trading now, going to be a tough week in the political economy in the UK.

As a Cucurela owner, I am kind of happy with that price drop, now I can play with keeping or selling him easily without needing to pay 0.1m extra down the line. That Wolves fixtures especially interests me, when Cancelo plays Southampton and I think he can match Cancelo in that GW and defend me against the Cancelo owners.

    Which team is better?

    A)
    Raya
    James / Guehi / Trippier
    KDB / Maddison / Andreas / Sterling
    Kane / Haaland / Mitrovic

    B)
    Guaita
    James / Walker / Trippier

    Mitrovic / Haaland / Toney.

It was a tough pick. I just think Rashford can score when playing against the top team from counter attack (Liverpool and Arsenal), while Brentford been poor defensively. I might consider to play Mitrovic over Martinelli though.

I would lose C because of the fixtures and blank in GW12.

You can get Martinelli back from GW13.

Both A and B are huge differentials and a route to climbing the ranks if the haul like mad from GW9 through to the World Cup.

I thought about Dias but Colombia play Mexico on Wednesday and with Klopp having more options now he might not start vs Brighton and the next 2 fixtures aren't amazing. I would stick with a more boring Maddison pick.

          • 5 Years

Not a weird idea at all. Spurs thrive when they can play on the counter and ManUtd will try to attack any team they play at home, they haven't
been solid defensively either, don't let clean sheets against poor sides like Leicester or Southampton fool you. Everton have been solid defensively and Spurs have struggled to create against teams like that (Marseille, Sporting, Wolves, even West Ham), while Everton have comveddd only 3 in their last 5 including games against teams with high xG like Liverpool, Brentford and Leeds. In complete agreement with Mentac

Nate has pretty much covered it, but yeah I think playing the fixtures with Spurs - and Son especially - is more complicated than with most other teams.

Expect Everton to defend deep, hold their shape at all costs & try to frustrate Spurs. Think it'll be a scrappy 1-0, and more of a game where Spurs WBs should do well.

Man Utd should be more end-to-end stuff. And Newcastle looks good to me too. Last season they tried to counter-press Spurs and it was a disaster, but since the aggressive approach worked quite well against City, I can see them going for it again

    Ward Iverson
    Taa James Trippier Guehi XXX

    A: Cancelo + Solanke (great 1st sub for rotation/blanks)
    B: Toney + Perisic/Cucurella (great 1st sub for rotation/blanks)
    C: Bowen (in a 352) + Dalot (good 1st sub)

Double Leicester keeper is still a bad idea in my book.
Toney + Dalot or Zouma or Kilman and spend the rest on someone that saves more than 50% of shots on target.

Once again the egos in that squad are causing issues, some wonderful players there but far too much happening in the background, including Mbappe heading a small group of players that don't want to fulfil certain media/advertising duties and not taking part in their WC kit launch, and having other players irritated that specific players are the only ones that are ever called up for that stuff. If I'm betting on anyone at the WC it'll be Argentina

Having a non playing asset like Greenwood is not ideal. Andreas is also a 2 to 3 point merchant. Any midfielder in his price range is so having to start him every GW is not great.

But if you fell happy to proceed with that defence then go with your gut 😉

B, don't see a Arsenal clean sheet and Saliba won't score every week.

Andreas has blanked 5 times. He is a 4.5 midfielder, the same as any other playing 4.5 midfielder.

What any other 4.5m starts every game for their side, in a Number 10 role and is on Corners/Freekicks?

Yes, he may have blanked in a few games but if you watch football you can see him getting into very good areas and has been rather unlucky on a number of games, hitting woodwork etc.

But hey, stats won't tell you that.

I have studied Andreas and his football career. He is a UTD reject.

At 26, he is not going to improve on his failing career.

The only place he should be in your team is on your bench, where 4.5 midfielders belong.

              Haha, here we go...

You could argue he's a UTD escapee? One Club's "Trash" (if you think so) is another Club's treasure.

Besides, your criticism of him before caused him to score 8 points that successive weekend, whilst my decision to play him certain weeks has got me to a very healthy Overall rank. I'll be fine without your advice but cheers anyway.

Interesting, is 26 the cut-off point for achieving anything significant in your career if you haven't done so before? In 2012 a player called Jamie Vardy moved from a non-league side to a Championship side when he was a few months shy of turning 26 and he went on to win one of the most historic Premier League titles in history, while simultaneously breaking Ruud Van Nistelrooy's record for scoring in the most consecutive PL games (think he was a decent player, won a couple of titles and played for a couple of fairly big clubs if I remember correctly) and winning the PFA and FWA player of the year award, and won an FA Cup not too long ago while also winning the golden boot a few years back.

            Andreas 24 points
            Bailey 22 points
            Dasilva 21 points
            Reed 21 points
            Rice 20 points

Playing one of the cheaper defenders is more viable than any of these players. I own Dasilva but would only start him in a worst case scenario.

What this detail doesn't show you is how, who against and when these points were scored.

For example, Da Silva has blanked every week since GW2 and is no longer guaranteed to start, Bailey is not a bad player but not nailed to start either although with a bit of luck, has potential to create something in the minutes he does get. Reed and Rice are two Holding Midfielders so player deeper and none of any of these players are on set pieces.

I would still pick Andreas over all these players if I needed to play a 4.5m midfielder. Why? because his potential and I repeat, potential points ceiling is higher based on his starting potential, the attacking areas he gets into and the set pieces he's on.

              Please. Watch him.

And please, please, do not try to convince me otherwise. I've read enough from you. You're a stats man and only a stats man.

Dasilva is for my bench. I have him because he was one of Brentford's main stars before he got injured and was out for 18 months. He clearly is going to need time to recover and find his rythym again.

I have no need to get rid of him because he is bench fodder at the moment, just like any other 4.5 mid.

Then my advice to you is to get rid when you next have a Transfer to burn. It's not an essential Transfer by any means. But there is a better 4.6m midfielder (justified by his 26% ownership) whilst Da Silva is on the verging of dropping back to 4.5m before the weekend.

Da Silva made an explosive return since his Long Term injury back in the Championship, but his starting potential and minutes is now reduced. The signing of Damsgaard this Summer may also impact his game time gradually.

You'll have far more important Transfers to make beforehand but there is simply a better option to have as Bench fodder when you can.

Dasilva is bench fodder. He is for my bench. Should I transfer him out for Andreas, Reed or Bailey and waste a transfer on of the the 3 mentioned plalyers who will also be bench fodder.

No thanks. Dasilva can park of on my bench as I only intend to start him as mentioned in a worst case scenario.

And yet again, that’s not what I said.

There was a time when you brought in DaSilva so there is a possibility that there will be another week where you won’t need to make a Transfer and you’ll have 2FT to use. It may also be during the World Cup when you have unlimited changes.

That is called “Having a Transfer to Burn” and that is when I’m suggesting you make the change.

Nobody is telling you to waste a Transfer on Bench Fodder until you are in that position.

I am keeping Dasilva if that helps you because none of the other 4.5 mids will be starting for me. Neither will Dasilva.

So you can keep Andreas and I will keep Dasilva. Both are bench fodder.

                        That should settle it.

Not sure yet. By GW11 I will know who I am going with.

At the moment I only have Diaz.

Other than Brighton GW9, I don't see big hauls from Liverpool assets. Both the Arsenal and City fixtures will be tight.

From GW12, Liverpool have a very favourable fixture run.

Happy to bench in those fixtures as he's been terrific value but I've had him since the season began, I wouldn't bring him in now for sure. Will be a good option for the nice run in GW11-16 where Arsenal face Southampton, Forest and Wolves
