The FFS Pro Pundits 34

Not often in the last few years have I been asked to write specifically about Manchester United, which in itself is quite encouraging.

In the next three Gameweeks, the Red Devils face West Ham United at home followed by two trips to Aston Villa and Fulham.

It’s worth noting that both West Ham and Aston Villa have the best expected goals conceded (xGC) record over the last six matches. So, if opting for a United attacker, the expectation should be more ‘steady stream’ rather than an explosion of points. Their underlying attacking stats haven’t been great (ranking near the middle) but it is worth noting that a bad start was then followed by better results against tougher teams.

The last five games have been against Manchester City, Everton, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, a selection of the league’s stingiest defences.

THE ATTACK

Gameweek 9 brought Antony‘s (£7.6m) first full game, so it’s worth looking at the data since then to identify trends as Erik ten Hag’s side has finally settled into a rhythm.

Let us look at goal threat first.

For more on Gameweek 14, my fellow Pro Pundit Zophar and I did a short comprehensive podcast where we discuss Liverpool, Arsenal and the short-term flings we like for the final pre-World Cup weeks. You can watch it below:

We eat camel burgers too. We export camels to the Middle East. True story. Our camels are the finest in the land and originate from Afghan camel herders from the 19th century when they were used for exploration purposes. I don’t eat camel burgers but I’ve been known to eat a kangaroo steak, well marinated of course.

Newspapers want things held back for tomorrow’s papers, so a lot of pressers have embargoed sections for them, in addition to ‘live’ broadcast bits

    Kilman >> White / Dalot? 1FT, 0.3ITB.

        • 9 Years

I agree (except the 'scored his goal' logic). Would go for Shaw due to being a little more attacking. I would only consider White if I were happy and able to bench him against Chelsea.

So, over Shaw, would you get White for GW 14 and 16 and play Castagne GW15?

Hmm it's in the balance. I would have to look more at Shaw's numbers. I haven't really been following him. Castagne might not quite be good enough to tempt me into the rotation

Wildcarding in GW15 so need a transfer for one week only. The plan was Iversen > Ramsdale, but I'm getting cold feet with Arsenal's dropping form. Foden isn't so great either, given the midweek comments. What do you think?

    A) Ward (MCI) > Ramsdale (NFO)
    B) Zaha (SOU) > Foden (lei)
    C) Zaha (SOU) > Saka (NFO)
    D) Something else [insert suggestion]

    Iversen
    Trent Gomez Trippier
    KDB Zaha Odegaard Martinelli
    Haaland Darwin Mitrovic

Thanks. Would cost me 0.4 to get him back on the WC. Not sure I can stomach it, but would consider it for sure if Haaland was unlikely to play. However, I thought he was still likely to play?

Yeah that was purely based on him being rested completely for this game. 0.4 is a fair amount but you can likely still make a very good team with your WC (and after the world cup) without it, even with two premiums.

Let's see what the presser says.

Thanks. I think Raya is the second-best keeper option, but I'm hoping I can find a giver upgrade somewhere. Ransmdale/Arsenal in form at home to NFO was substantial enough for me to make the move, GK transfer in general is a bit underwhelming.

Saka still on the cards. I just don't know!

Owning Arsenal mids won't affect Ramsdale's points. For me it's probably Ramsdale or no one for the GK transfer

        1,2,5.
Cameos can yield more points than 3,4

Almiron is one of (the) most in-form mids and has a great fixture

Eze is playing a side with the most shots conceded in the last 4 games
