Fantasy Football Scout has been voted as the ‘best editorial’ in Fantasy Football for 2022.

Scout scooped the accolade at the Football Content Awards, which took place at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester last week.

The competition in our category was fierce with All About FPL, Big Man Bakar, Draft Society, Fantasy Football Hub and FPL Harry all nominated.

However, Scout took home the coveted Gold award for the third year running.

We’d also like to congratulate FPL BlackBox for their fully deserved win in the ‘best creator‘ category, plus Let’s Talk FPL who received the silver award.

To cap off a memorable night, FPL Focal also picked up the silver award for ‘best new content creator‘.

But, most importantly, we are hugely grateful for the ongoing support and interest (not to mention votes!) from our readers, viewers and listeners, who have for years helped us maintain our position as the number one resource for Fantasy Football.

We would not be where we are now without you, and we cannot thank you enough.

The editorial team would also like to thank all of our authors, who have helped contribute to the broadest and most comprehensive programme of articles in the Fantasy Football community.

Danny Kelly on Talksport now. A great man, not just in sporting knowledge terms. Trans Europe Express, fantastic show. Used to be editor of Q magazine and the NME.

Sounds just like Southgate to bench England's best player. If this is true then that is 4 defenders, 3 holding midfielders, immobile Kane and inadequate Sterling. Saka has better perform as he is on his own.

Is that the immobile Kane with over 300 career goals and not yet 30?

I think you have totally missed my point!! Kane would be in my team 100% (given his fantastic ability to drop to midfield play and great finishing), but would be supported by talented providers like Foden, Saka and Maddison. That would be great. But when you play 7 defensive players plus Sterling (who should be nowhere near the squad), then there is no one to supply except Saka. That is not a very positive dynamic.

And how can you call him immobile when you offer up the fact he drops into midfield at times? That's the opposite of immobile, moving around the field. Weird

He's less mobile if he's finding space and better players aren't finding him in that space. Does too much donkey work for Spurs as it is going back the field to win ball. Likes of more defensive mids haven't the instincts of Madison, Foden and Saka to find him in space and make better use of his mobility.

Firstly my comment was not Anti Kane it was Anti Southgate. The immobile reference that you seem to take huge offense to is the fact that he is the focal point of the team as a centre forward or a dropping forward into mid. He does not have the energy or creativity of Saka, Foden, Maddison, Grealish etc. That is no way a criticism but a fact (or are you actually suggesting that Kane is a vibrant winger with pace?!). He will not drop and dribble past 5 men! He needs support! He is however a superb holder and shooter. Please remind me again what is your point?

We really just gonna randomly call Bellingham and Mount defensive?

If true this is just about right for the lineup. I’d have White over Maguire and Foden over Mount, but there’s nothing here to get worked up about.

No clearly they are not defensive. I didnt realise Mount was playing (you know more than me ,fair play). That said Southgate will play Bellingham defensively which is such a shame.

I'm not a bit English and Southgate will never go with this 11, Maddison not fir yet anyway, but would like to see them have a cut at the three teams in the group. They're much better than all three so why be hesitant?

            Pickford

            Trent, White, Rice, Maguire, Trippier

            Bellingham, Maddison

            Saka, Kane, Foden

Yeah, he won't go with it but i really like it. Very close to mine.

I am ambivalent about the defensive personnel but the shape for me:

              x
Tripper (love TAA but got to go with form) X X X
              Rice Bellingham
              Maddison
              Saka Kane Foden

So given Maddison is injured, it’s only Sterling for Foden that is different to this and Sterling was always going to play given what he’s done in previous tournaments

Depends on the formation. 4 3 3 with 3 def mids is terrible and the reason why we didnt win the Euros. Foden to Sterling is like switching Fillet Steak to Corned Beef!

How did you not know Mount was predicted to play if you read the article? And Kane bangs plenty of goals for Tottenham with far few creativity players around him. The same is true of the 2018 World Cup where he won the golden boot.

My prediction? You just fancied a random Southgate rant without reading the article.

Spurs under Conte are as pragmatic as England under Southgate. Some talented players on both teams going out not to get beaten rather than playing more on the front foot where Kane could score even more goals.

Put it this way - name me a better front 3 in the Premier League than Kane, Sterling and Saka?

Man City probably as Haaland is a freak

                Liverpool when everyone is fit

Spurs MAYBE when Son is on form

So we are playing a top 4 front 3, with the in form right back in the league, 3 midfielders with world class potential and yet we are complaining it’s not enough.

Not so much the personnel on the pitch but the tactics. I'm not in the 'we' conversations but would like England to do well. I think Southgate is too cautious. Can do better if he takes a few risks and this is an ideal group to build confidence. On current form Sterling is in very few front 3s though he's done well for Southgate. Would have Foden ahead of him though. Or Saka, Foden and Sterling ahead of Bellingham and Rice and Kane up front.

So I would also play Foden instead of Mount but it’s not a massive difference, Mount in the past has played much better for England.

I’d also like a more attacking approach but when we didn’t concede from open play the entire Euros it’s hard to argue too much

Agree Southgate's formations dont concede many, but since we havent played a team "better" than us in major tournaments for many years, we should be trying to attack not just defend. I genuinely think Southgate would love 1 0 against Iran. Exactly the reason why we wont win the World Cup!

In my view Sterling is not even in the top 20 srikjers in England. Probably the best positional player i have ever seen ever! (hence his goals), but his finishing, dribbling and pass completion is League 2 at best.

Sorry mate, not sure why you are angry? I had a brief review of the article but did not see Mount mentioned in the team. That said it was the Daily Mail so i felt dirty reading it so was quicker than i should be, so sorry for that. Either way your Kane point is strange in my personal opinion. England were very ineffective in an attacking sense in 2018 (i don't count penalties and goals against amateurs so how many did he actually score?)

Well not counting penalties is a bit pointless given they gain you just as much as any other goal does.

I’m not angry at all, but there are two things I don’t find very boring:

                1. Complaining before we’ve even started
                2. Pretending that any manager in world football would play more than the 4 attacking players this article had. For instance Brazil arguably have the best attacking options at the World Cup and even they will only start 4 attackers. We should be so pleased we have people like Foden, Rashford, Grealish as impact subs

Ok the. Argentina against Saudi Arabia will essentially have 3 attackers most likely.

France against Australia will only play 4 attackers

No need to compare with other teams. England have plenty of talent. They're well better than any team in that group. Should get 9 points minimum but probably by grinding out 1 goal wins scoring 3 or 4 goals total rather than pasting opponents and scoring 10+ goals. France are looking a bit screwed now, should get out of the group but after that who knows? Benzema, Kante, Pogba, Kimpembe, Nkunku out, possibly Varane too.

England will do well but as you say, with 1 0 wins, maybe a R2 win etc, but they dont have the inspiration to beat the greats, or even the equals!

The fact that you value a penalty (where someone is nominated) over open play (where it is them in that pace at that time) speaks volumes. I would take 4 attackers, but Southgate has played with 3 in major tournaments. That is why we never got to the final in 2018 or won it in 2020, despite not playing any teams other than those we should comfortably beat.

Why should a penalty count less?

The reason we lost Euro 2020 was a penalty shootout, we lost to an Italy team that had looked good all tournament.

Before Southgate took charge we hadn’t won a knockout game since 2006, we have won 5 in the last two tournaments so he deserves a bit more credit.

Penalties count less because it an un-apposed kick, unlike open play, so is much easier! Yes, to the layman we were unlucky and lost on a shoot-out. But we bossed the game at 1 0 and sat back in classic Southgate style and unsurprisingly they then scored. Yes we havent won since 2006 because we have had terrible managers and played better teams. Please name a good team Southgate has beaten in a knock out stage?

Germany and Denmark at the Euros.

You have to win the penalty in the first place … you earn the right to get an easy kick at goal.

Since when were Bellingham and Mount holding midfielders? 😆 More attacking than Liverpool's central midfield of Fabinho Thiago Henderson!

The more defensive the 8's, the more aggressive the fullbacks are generally.

I have always been a huge football fan and have loved watching all 11 World Cups in my living memory. This year, however, i really don't care, and have not yet spoken to anyone else who does. So sad what has happened to this fantastic event.

Meh the event is just a reflection of our current state of affairs. It’s just a football tournament. The same greed will, on the current trajectory, bring an end to human civilisation as we know it. Now that’s sad.

I guess we’ll see come 1 pm if I’m able to just not bother watching it…..spent quite a lot of time thinking about it this week. Think this is my 11th WC too. Not sure if it will improve or make worse my mental health difficulties but as it stands I’m pretty sure not participating in it at all is the right thing to do for me.

I get the mental health stuff. All the best. I say just watch as a neutral until the KO stages. If you feel invested, then go for it. If not, then just enjoy the football. However, every emotion i feel (if any) will be qualified by the fact that this should not even be happening.

Thanks for your reply Mcgurn. I guess with me it’s about what benefits I’ll gain from watching and weighing those potential benefits over how bereft of excitement and fascination I am with the whole thing. A roller coaster ride through the WC could very easily be a positive thing. Not sure I’ll get that though considering how I feel about it in the first instance. I don’t watch any tv or mainstream media for example, haven’t done for many years so any decision to watch (and enjoy) means going to a public house and physically interacting with the ‘product’ and very uncomfortable with that as it stands. Kinda comedown to a FOMO type issue for me and maybe banging out loads of miles on my road bike might be the right choice for me in this instance.

Hi Mcgurn apologies for the lack of reply bud. And thank you for your kind words. Both I guess mate, my mental health is and has been very poor for a number of years. Pre-covid was already dealing with my dear Mother and her fight with Alzheimer’s (a professional lady, an author, a MacMillan nurse, an amazing lady) then end of life care for my Father and the death of the Matriarch of my family a 90 year old retired community midwife. Don’t get me wrong lockdown was difficult for many but also losing my family home of 36 years and moving into a small touring caravan on a derelict piece of land 50 miles from my only remaining family member, a little girl of 6 who’s mother then stopped me seeing her and then suspension from my employment on mental health grounds sets the scene on why. Diagnosed with adult ADHD and CPtsd in the months after all that carnage. I guess for me I’m in a position to take an (albeit small stand) on whether I interact with the product supplied by FIFA. The corruption and/or behaviour of the host state and governing body just does not sit very easily with me at all. Human rights, inclusion of marginalised minorities are worthy of standing up for imo. As I don’t watch tv I’m in a position to choose whether I engage with the product on offer which would involve going to a public house to do so……ain’t happening today I reckon. Take it easy bud. Peace & Love dude.

Good to have a bike to get you out in the fresh air, clear the head a bit. I admire you for that cos here very few motorists have any respect for cyclists, cycling looks a bit risky for me. Can you stream a few games on BBC/ITV player? I know for me heading to a pub depends on my mood. One day it's great to get out and have the craic and another day the prospect of being in a pub with lots of pi$$ed people is very unappealing.

Agree completely about the bike stuff but don’t start me on the idiots that use the public highway 😆 I’ll take it day by day Greenred I reckon but today is not that day so although I’ll miss it and the journey of a WC I just think to do what’s right for me is to block it all out as much as I can. Hear ya on the way people behave in pubs too bud so like I said, not for me today. Thank you for your kind words bud. Peace and Love.

Greenred has a great point. Why not cycle out to the country (or you favourite spot).Park your bike and chill in a field with your phone watching IPlayer/ITV Hub. You know what that sounds like a great way rather than in the pub with the drunks!

Well, first of all, slow update in team news sections. Often there are no predicted line ups for some teams on the matchday even. I feel there are too many new articles that say nothing in particular. I like the old ones, I read them all, now I don't even read it. Focus is on social medias, mostly YouTube, and I hate it. There are also few hot topics. Few years ago there were like 2-3 hot topics every day... And so on, a few more things I can't remember now.

On the social/YT front, I've nowt to do with either other than the team news vid on a Fri. I'm purely editorial, so there's no conflict of interest there. Appreciate that Twitter/video isn't for everyone, I'm definitely not a big fan of social media either.

The team news critique is fair but it will, unfortunately, always be slow to update. It's for a reason, not a dereliction of duty - I can't give the XIs my best guess without seeing the pressers (of which there are usually 12+ on a Friday), reading the local rags and consulting fans forums. I have, however, started putting up provisional lineups and team news info out earlier in the week, not sure if you've noticed that. And I've never not updated all 20 clubs before a deadline.

As for the articles, I'm all ears. Which of the 'old ones' do you miss? And which of the current crop are repetitive?

But there aren't updated team news on Friday night often.

Literally all the old ones. I can't remember the particular, but they were simple, all important things in one place. Now we have scattered info and stats I feel. And of course, doing everything only to attract more people to buy the membership for which I can't blame you all.

It's not pointed directly at you, I see you work hard and well, but it seems like not everyone there follow you.

And if I may ask, do they pay contributors for their work or you are doing it for free?

And to be clear, by articles I mean texts above the comment section, not the ones beside hot topics.

With team news updates, you often have to wait for embargoed press conferences which don't come out until after 10:30pm the night before deadline. I'd rather the predicted line ups be late and well informed than early and way off.

If they could get their marketing sorted then they would be onto a real winner.

FT has a really solid grasp of the game mechanics, I think the Euros and WC tournaments they run are probably my favourite fantasy games, period. Just the right amount of challenge and pricing that is spot on.

Anything would be better than the official game though lol. It will be remembered in the fantasy community for a long time for all the wrong reasons.

Same. I only make it -1, assume he got 1pt for playing 60+ mins and then -1 for the 2nd goal conceded and -1 for conceding the penalty. Can't see how they got to -3 for him at all. Perhaps that's part of the glitch they're having with the points for other players.

Il GK del Qatar has -3... Why?

    +1 for playing 60 mnts,
    -1 for conceding 2 goals,
    -1 for causing a penalty,
    -1 for yellow card.

That should add up to -2, what am I missing?

At least you had placed your order 🙂 No-one is blaming you for not allowing to drink the beer. Budweiser isn't happy in Qatar now.

I think the scoring system died around the 60 odd minutes mark. Nobody’s score seems right. Absolute sh*t show

Nor me. This game is going to be a farce if they don’t sort it out.

Subbed out two Qatari players (what a disaster!) successfully but my points total for the Matchday is still wrong. Still confused over the transfer options which seem to have a loophole.
Just going to do my best, play the game my way and hopefully improve on my current rank of 1.4 million !!!!

How many points will Galandez have as GK for Ecuador on FIFA fantasy?

And when will the full points tally be updated for the players who played last night?

So aside from those with Kane and no KDB, what other budget hack transfers are people lining up for thier teams?

i have both Kane and KDB, i set my team up in such a way where the budget hack won't be possible, bench Neymar, Bruno F, Telles all playing on the last day

I have KdB, Neymar and triple Arg attack. Haven't checked if there is anything possible or worth doing.

Same here. Is he the only player with missing points or is this a common issue?

Common issue I understand. FIFA say they are working on a fix. Should be corrected before Christmas

Reply fail! What happens if we have a player that hauls, but we want to transfer then out before their points are awarded? If we transfer them out and it still shows as zero (before lets say their 10 points are finally added) does that locked transferred out player get the zero locked in or would the true point score be added later...? I guess nobody knows! So shonky

              True score will be added

But why are you doing that?

Can we choose to change more that on captain each day i.e. Kane to KDB after the England game finishes?

Seems you could do that but if De Bruyne blanks you won’t be able to change your captain again during Matchday 1 (20 - 24 November).

Christ. Should I take Galindez out for Courtois (plays today) or leave and hope hi points are added?

      Points will be added

Besides, I'd like to comment about GK options. I kept Courtois first with Rochet as backup to avoid the conundrum.

I just checked. Ecuador players still don't have their points because of "data feed problems". This is going to be very annoying, since surely Courtois among many others is going to have exact zero pts until the error is solved. FIFA can't arrange/buy even fantasy tournament without fiasco.

"Please note: Due to data feed issues, some players from the QAT v ECU fixture have incorrect scores. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible."

    Apologies if repeated!
