  • Leicester v Aston Villa (Tuesday 4 April)

  • West Ham v Newcastle (Wednesday 5 April)

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 29 FIXTURES

  • Brighton: BRE + bou
  • Chelsea: AVL + LIV
  • Leeds: ars + NFO

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 29 REACTION

FPL review: Maddison's elite numbers, Spurs' injury woes 1

We now have confirmation of Double Gameweek 29 and it’s a big one as expected, with 12 teams set to play twice.

Away matches for Liverpool against Man City and Chelsea are far from straightforward, but more appealing doubles await Leicester and Nott’m Forest.

And what about Brighton and Brentford, who could now potentially face two ‘doubles’ and two ‘blanks’ in the next five rounds?

What all of this does mean, however, is that chip planning will become more important than ever in the coming days and weeks, with Free Hit deployment set to pick up in Blank Gameweek 28 and Double Gameweek 29, depending on your strategy.

For a rundown of the latest Blank Gameweek 28 permutations, see below.

These moves just look too good to be true. Didn't get on Trippier until late, so no real value tied up there.

KdB, Trippier, Shaw > Salah, Trent, Tarkowski for a hit

Still rocking DDG and Botman too

I bought Shaw for 4.8 and Trippier for 5.1, so I'm reluctant to go ahead with similar transfers, even though I believe it could pay off and I really want some decent differentials.

There's a scenario in which I can still keep them, and swap Botman with Alexander-Arnold, but I have to sell Kane.

In terms of Shaw - (Manchester) United have a fair few blanks coming up, no? Thinking if I sell now before his drop this week, I'll only lose max 0.2 on him anyway if I want him back. No doubt they'll freeze his price or something, but I'm not really playing the price game this season. So many good cheap options that there's always an alternative.

        25 blank
        26 Liverpool
        27 Soton
        28 blank

Yeah, that's right. I will probably pull the trigger on Shaw/De Bruyne/Kane ➡ Trent/Mo/Darwin for -4 in the end anyway. I'm just slightly overthinking right now.

DDG or Dalot can cover Shaw. And Pope could cover Trips.

Got most of mine sketched out too:

      Raya Leno

      Maddison Rashford Saka Mitoma Ødegaard/March

I was thinking of doing Navas over Pope but Pope has to face Brighton in a double sometime and that might happen in 31 I think. Not sure though.

Getting tempted now to actually roll FT this week instead of bringing in Liverpool / Everton def and just play with 9 (albeit that includes Patterson). Means I have an extra FT towards DGW29 and also keep Dalot meaning another DGWer. Too risky?

So much more potential in 27 & especially 29 for me. I'm still quite reluctant to take even 1 punt on 25 since none of them improve my team for 27/9. Got to think about it a bit though & sketch a few different transfer plans

Still need to wait to see what happens with Pool. But my original plan of FH 28 and BB 29 is out the window.

I think I'll manoeuvre 28 ok (play 8/9) and free hit in 29. Save BB for a later DGW.

There are loads of Internationals betweeen GW28 and GW29 so who knows what your team would look like afterwards.

    Hi.

Still have TC remaining after mistakenly giving up too early on a mini-league which I've since made a comeback in.

When are the best opportunities to use it? Just 25 and 37, right? Saka TC this week?,

    1. ☈☾
      • 8 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

You'd want to use TC on Saka / Haaland / Rashford

Arsenal prob won't have any more DGWs
City will have one more DGW
      United could have 1-2 more

Based on this I reckon your best bet is Saka TC this week

That looks quite poor for a BB if I'm being honest (aside from their being doubles).

Forster is poor. Possible CS but no guarantee. Might Lloris be back then? (6-8 weeks was timeline?)

Poor fixtures for Gakpo. Zinchenko vs. Leeds might be okay - but again it's only a SGW for him. James could go either way. On form Villa will score. But run risk of him not starting both anyway. Liverpool might improve too.

Tbh this is without any planning as such. I will most likely have 2 FTs by then so I could change 3 or all 4 of these. But I like to play the long term game and not over commit to BB. So I feel this should be okay. If theres too many issues come DGW29 I'll twist

The real question is whether gw34 will be a greater BB opportunity than 29.
What I like about BBing 29 is that you can have a proper BB team without WCing.

Not sure how I'd view this if I were interested in a fullback/Gomez/Darwin.

Whilst it's great they're all fit, it surely increases likelihood of a rest in one of the doubles.

I think Darwin is pretty important for them, but with Bobby/Jota back that's a potential xMins reductions that's not coming in PL.

My head's hurting.. which of these sound best in light of the confirmed DGW's? (Trippier options lead to 0.5m loss and a likely hit down the line to get him back)

    A. Bruno + Kane + Patterson > Salah + Darwin + Tark

    B. Bruno + Kane + Trippier > Salah + Darwin + TAA

    C. Bruno + Trippier > Salah + Tark

    D. Bruno + Patterson > Gakpo + TAA

With no hits (6 transfers) from now I can get to this BB team for Gw29. Keeping hold of sgw players Kane, Haaland and Saka.

    Kepa Ward
    Mee Shaw Trippier Espu TAA
    Maddison Saka March Mitoma Rashford
    Kane Haaland Havertz

One or two hits in between to get through the blanks and doubles before then should do the job and FH, BB will be intact.

    Your thoughts plz?

I'll have triple Arsenal on the bench as it is. The only sgw players will be Haaland and Kane. Not much upside if any using the FH that week. It would block using a BB that week too.

What will be the best way to use our remaining chips now that DGW29 has been announced with six additional matches?
And what do we think would be an ideal squad for that Gameweek?

As I don’t have FH available I’m going:
      28: 7-8 players
      29: BB
33: WC to get players for dgws 34,37

Leaning towards using free transfers and a few hits from now until 28, FH 29. WC and BB not sure

At the minute I much prefer the look of BB29 so I'm targeting that. If all fixtures that are most likely to fall in GW28 do fall then I probably will have to FH but if I can avoid it I will as I'd love to hold it for a double (GW36/37 forget where it's supposed to be). WC then in preparation for the next big double and try to find a good window for TC wherever it appears.

The other main DGWs are likely to be in 34 and 37.

First thoughts are trying to build a team for BB29, WC in 33/34 and FH37.

I'll be coasting into obscurity after DGW29

For me it seems fairly straightforward.

Don't need a free hit for 28, I will already have 8 or 9 that week before using any more transfers. Don't really need a free hit in 29 either due to the way the fixtures have fallen. So I'm going classic mode and do what I would normally do... It's the age old

Wildcard 33, bench boost 34 and free hit 37 ideally

Spurs double probably doesn't happen even after confirmed no 28 because they play on a Monday and then Saturday. So not enough time in between

    What’s better

    1. Ream Salah Gomez -4
    2. Robbo Trent Gakpo -8

1, mainly because I wouldn't want to be stuck with 2 Pool defence.

    Best option of these?
    A) Kane, Bruno, Botman, March to Watkins, Salah, Tarkowski, Gakpo -8

    B) Bruno, Botman to Gakpo, TAA for free

    C) Bruno, March, Botman to Gakpo, Grealish, Tarkowski (with cash saved for changes building up to BGW28/DGW29) -4

    Cheers.
