It’s the final weekend of action before the international break and another chance to enter the Premier League Amateur competition on Sorare for a chance to win prizes.

What are the Amateur competitions?

Sorare offers competitions across different leagues and locations, with varying entry requirements. The Amateur divisions are entirely free to play and run over most weekends.

In these divisions, you start by picking a squad of eight players (two from each position) within a 400-point budget. Then each week, you line up your five best players and pick a captain who will score an extra 50%. The top 300 managers win a Sorare player card that can be used in the higher divisions.

You can swap up to two players in and out of your squad each week to help you deal with fixtures and form. This is just the sort of Gameweek where those swaps are going to be crucial, with some teams having a blank ahead.

Ready to play? Let’s have a look at some EPL players that might help you squeeze the most of your 400-point budget this week.

JOIN SORARE TODAY

Keylor Navas, Nottingham Forest
Cost: 41

The lowest price of a player in this draft is 40 points, so picking up anyone around the 40-45 point mark is a great way to make space for the big hitters in your squad.

Forest are at home to a Newcastle United team that has struggled for goals of late. Keepers tend to score highly on Sorare if they are highly involved in the game but also manage to keep a clean sheet. For example, Navas has had two big scores since joining Forest: the 1-0 win against Leeds, where he made four saves and kept a clean sheet, and the 1-1 draw with Man City, where he faced 23 shots in total.

Newcastle will be keen to build on the back of their win last weekend, while Forest will be desperate to secure a home win and get some breathing space in the relegation battle. Navas could play a pivotal role in this game so this might be the ideal time to pick him up.

Matty Cash, Aston Villa
Cost: 43

Aston Villa are having an up-and-down sort of season but are at home to Bournemouth next in a game that they should win comfortably. Matty Cash has had a similar campaign, having struggled to keep his place, but started the last four games and finished three of those with scores above 60 points, largely thanks to his all-around play.

A clean sheet looks possible and, as an attacking full-back, there is also plenty of scope for Cash to get involved in the goals too. He won’t damage your budget too much either.

Rodrigo, Leeds United
Cost: 51

Prior to his injury, Rodrigo was Leeds’ most prolific player with 10 goals in 19 games, and this translated into some pretty decent Sorare scores too. Leeds struggled to score without him and it’s likely that most of the attacking play will go through him now that he’s made his way back to full fitness.

His cost of 51 takes him out of the ‘super cheap’ bracket but is still very reasonable for a forward. The match against Wolves at the weekend will be tough but he did grab a goal in the reverse fixture last year. Coming up on the horizon for Leeds are must-win games against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, so he could be a player you want to keep in your squad for more than one game.

Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal
Cost: 51

Similarly to Rodrigo, Jesus is finding his way back into the Arsenal team after injury and has Crystal Palace next, who are one of the worst teams in the league at the moment form-wise and have a manager under-fire in ex-Arsenal legend Patrick Viera.

This game should have goals and Jesus is likely to be in and around them. Even without goals and assists, his work on the ball and the chances he creates for the team are likely to reflect in good all-around scoring on Sorare – but who would bet against him getting on the scoresheet against a miserable Palace side?

Ready to set your team for the Premier League games this weekend? Entering the Premier League Amateur competition will cost you nothing but if you use our link below to join you’ll win a free digital player card if you eventually buy five cards from the Sorare auctions. Good luck!

If I am on a FH, do u feel it is stupid for me to put the 3 Arsenal starters in my squad as Saka, Martinelli and Ode?? While Arsenal def have a high chance of clean sheet against Palace, I was thinking there are qt a lot of options in defence this week as compared to midfield. E likes of Chelsea, Newcastle, Villa, Wolves n Brentford are all capable of keeping a clean sheet against their opponents!
So is it stupid to include 3 Arsenal midfielders in my squad or should I include 1 Arsenal defender n 2 midfielders instead?

No - not stupid at all. Bar the fact they only have 1 fixture in 29, its a good fixture, and they are performing each week.

Limited options in midfield compared to defence, as you say. So I think its fine to go for all 3

Are social media & 'experts' taking an element of enjoyment away from FPL?

We see Template teams, mini-league scores very similar each week, herd-mentality/sheep, transfer tipping the same players... FPL managers who's track record in FPL has previously been poor season after season, I'm finding are topping mini-leagues simply from being told what to do.

FF Scout community is great but when 'tipsters' TELL 50k+ people what to do and they follow it, the community and discussing new ideas/differentials just goes out the window...

Everything in life is analysed to death these days. The game, our jobs, our lives, everything. We can thank 'Technology' for that. So FPL is no different. Its makes it possible to be more successful, but of course it also makes it more difficult to be successful as everyone is now more educated. Can work in your favour though. I didnt follow the crowd and WC in Liverpool recently and then sell them (or vice versa, buy them in then WC them out). I also went against Haaland succesfully in last few weeks and made headway in my 2 MLs. So if you have a strong mind, use the information at hand and follow your own conviction, it can work in your favour. There are Pro's and Con's.

I’ll admit I find the sheer amount and prevalence of advice annoying. For example, I spent a fair while plotting future fixtures and transfers when I was weighing up whether or not to wildcard in 26. I pulled the trigger early, put my squad together and by the end of the week the official FPL website and app had published an article telling people to go for almost exactly the same squad.

I’m not saying I was original in my thinking (my squad looks as template as any on here by now) but some of the people in my mini leagues who ended up with similar squads know very little about football or FPL.

Some people may say that’s whining but I would just say I’m being honest. Yes, there’s a bit of groupthink on here but I like to think of myself as an independent thinker who likes to take the occasional risk, and it’s galling to see someone swallow whole the advice from an account with the reach of FPL’s official channels.

I understand FPL needs to keep people engaged and my mini leagues, particularly the big ones at work, have benefitted from more people staying with the game. But it does feel like the research and work you put in now can feel a little futile.

They don't take enjoyment ouve the game but they certainly add laziness to it.
Rarely do I go near the premium tools anymore.

Template teams is a normal part of FPL, but there are still lots of maverick moves to be made, depending on how you play the game.

Got 1FT & want to use BB 29?

Where to use FT should get another before 29.

    Raya,
    Mee, Trippier, Zinch, Chilwell
    Saka, Ode, Maddison,
    Kane, Toney,

    Sanchez, Rashford, Purvis, Mitoma, Haaland

    1FT

Depending on value in Haaland, maybe Haaland to Watkins/Havertz/Isak. Then Toney to Haaland in GW29?

What's the feeling on Ricardo as a WC28 pick and bench boost 29 for 4.3m?

Need him for the next 3 weeks but likely to bench him after that.

I don't expect CS's but hopeful of some attacking returns.

Have double New (Pope, Tripp) and Chelsea (Kepa, Chill) plus 1 Bri (Estu) and 1 Villa (Cash).

Could be a nice punt. Not without some risk as Barnes & Tete are back, and Rodgers said earlier that they only played with wing backs due to lack of wingers, so they'll likely revert to 4231. But Kristiansen is probably out, so I think it'll be Castagne LB, Pereira RB. Or maybe if you're lucky he could start RW ahead of Tete

I benefitted from the Castagne gravy train before the World Cup but made the mistake of sticking with him after the restart - I just don’t trust Leicester defensively. Yes, Ricardo is attacking but with his injury record I wouldn’t go for him personally

Spurs defender other than Davies or Dier is asking for blanks.
        Which Pool will turn up?

I'm on Martinelli but it feels quite uncertain this week. I was oddly more certain last week with my Mac10 call. I've had a fairly good track record with my captaincy this season though and my instinct is to back the stronger team at home.

I like Chilwell (c) this week. It's a pretty decent call.

I’m currently on Kane with Saka VC. Arsenal clearly the superior team but, having had both for a while, there’s something I like about backing somebody so consistent and pivotal to his team, even if they are weaker. Plus Saints are vulnerable. As much as the Arsenal mids might put egg on my face, I can’t confidently predict who will return.

Thanks. Ward will be 2+2 i fear.
Botman is a consideration but I may still go Pope in nets which leaves me looking for a final defender.

Yeah, Ward isn't inspiring, but he does play in GW32 when Chelsea may blank. Pope could be a good shout if funds there. Areola could be an option, though not sure how long Fab is out for.

Maybe an Arsenal defender. Not sure anyone else jumps out for 28 and 29.

I know you don’t fancy BRE but Raya can get you save points if not cleanies. Fabianski punt perhaps?

If I go Raya, then who would you put as 2nd defender. NEW?

          A. Watkins (10 players in 28)

          B. Maddison (11 players in 28 but the 11th is Gnonto)

I will have both for 29

Yeah it's the template alright. Not that it has to be, but is it different enough to what everyone else already has?

I need to WC or FH this week and I stubbornly don't want to WC just out of pure contempt for the template.

It's so hard to go against it tho

            Very similar to mine, except:

            Ward for Steele
            Botman for Mings
            Estup for Zinchenko

I'm not convinced either tbh, but its the prospect of a dgw31!. Mings is a very decent pick at 4.3 though and I may well do the same.

Simliair to my situation, and I wildcarded to get less blanks this week and more doubles next week. Bottom line is GWs are running out, and there blank and doubles that remain are not as big as this, so get using those chips...........they dont do anything unless activated!
