Double Gameweek 29 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) gets underway with a humdinger of a fixture at the Etihad.

Kick-off is at 12:30 BST.

Second plays sixth as Manchester City take on Liverpool, with a win for the hosts taking them five points behind league leaders Arsenal who play later today.

The Reds need a result to maintain their push for a UEFA Champions League qualification spot, their only remaining achievable goal of a sub-par season.

Both sides’ big-money forwards are absent from the starting XIs this Saturday lunchtime.

Darwin Nunez is on the bench for the visitors, while Erling Haaland – not unexpectedly – is absent from the City matchday squad altogether.

Haaland had been suffering from a groin injury over the international break, pulling out of the Norway squad as a result.

Phil Foden is also unavailable after having appendix surgery, so it’s a frontline of Riyad Mahrez, Julian Alvarez and Jack Grealish for the reigning champions.

There are four recognised centre-halves across the City backline once again, as John Stones and Nathan Ake are deployed as full-backs – if there’s such a thing as an orthodox full-back in Guardiola’s world.

Liverpool, meanwhile, make two changes to the side that was knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid before the March international break.

James Milner and Darwin drop to the bench as Jordan Henderson and Harvey Elliott come into the side.

Darwin, like Haaland, had to pull out of international duty with an injury, but his ankle wound had healed sufficiently for him to rejoin training this week.

Liverpool have another Double Gameweek 29 fixture to come after this one, away at Chelsea on Tuesday.

GAMEWEEK 29 LINE-UPS

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Stones, Dias, Akanji, Ake, Gundogan, Rodri, Majrez, De Bruyne, Grealish, Alvarez.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Robertson, Van Dijk, Konate, Alexander-Arnold, Elliott, Henderson, Fabinho, Gakpo, Jota, Salah.

Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Milner, Firmino, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tsimikas, Nunez, Arthur, Matip.

The big winners are the ones who sold Haaland last week and Saka this week, both huge gambles (Haaland would have gone berserk today) but both have paid off. Two big chunks of luck with how it's panned out but sometimes FPL is all about things going your way.

Absolutely seething with this Saka benching. People have made the wrong decision in my mind to hit him out and are now benefiting from a bad decision. He literally always starts and it just happens that the week I play my BB chip he gets benched. Saka screwed me last gameweek as well with the captaincy. FPL is an utter farce sometimes. This is definitely my last season. I just cant have it effect my mood every weekend anymore.

Yeah unfortunately I dont seem able to play the game casually and not get emotionally invested. Ive been playing for 17yrs but I just dont really enjoy it that much anymore. Its completely saturated now. Too many people playing it and too many content creators spoon feeding people has made the game too hard and everyone has the same team. Its a load of shite now sadly.

you just have one of the season (like me this season and currently shutting my company down), so watching to many streams.

But two years ago got into top 1k.

All the cards just fell into place. Lingard etc.

Was top 200 with the Man Utd triple week but went Zaha>Greenwood. That was my only mistake.

It happens, i was a hour away from Saka to Salah, and didnt hear the rumour

Wasn't wrong for most to sell him if they're FH in 32. I'm not FH32 though so couldn't sell for Bruno and had to cancel my BB. More annoying for me but it is what it is - was really hoping Saka and Haaland would be nice differentials this week.

England were better than France imo, just undone by a fortunate early goal from long range, that should have been ruled out.

Then France sat back and hit on the counter with Mbappe & Dembele, difficult to deal with France once you go behind.

yeah lol although i was close.

      Had two plans this morning

White to Zouma was done (no FH32)

      Then leave Saka/Kane alone.

Or Saka to Salah for a -4, and sell Kane instead of Toney next week (even Kane to Isak for a -8)

But i thought i have to buy back SAKA/Martinelli GW31/32 anyway, or I am buying Salah in GW31/32 anyway.

      So why take these hits?

        Jesus 1st half, Saka 2nd.

Leeds will have to defend as a low block today.

If it is only 0-0 or even 1-0 up at HT, he will have to come on

        Man City roasted Liverpool today.

        Goal difference is relevant.

However, Leeds have lost just one of their four away fixtures against the current top six, a 4-3 defeat at Tottenham, which is odd (Source BBC) - now that is an odd sta

Oh look... Liverpool are still trash this season. Don't care that it is City, 1 shot on target is awful for their standards.

Totally agree. I’ve salah and Nunez and not sure either of them are worth keeping on WC with so many other sting options. Can’t see them even close to top 4 now

All that time debating whether to sell Saka to Maddison or Bruno, only to keep him and he gets benched... its a beautiful game isn't it

Hindsight I know, but Andy got the news during his deadline stream. But you can't be watching all the streams all the time.

same with me to salah, but selling Kane put me off and still wanted to sell Toney for Haaland, which would have priced me out

Thank God I got the news in time to transfer him to Maddison.
