Sunday’s Premier League action concludes at The City Ground, where Nottingham Forest and Manchester United go head-to-head.

Steve Cooper’s side are currently in 18th place in the Premier League standings and are without a win since Gameweek 22, while the Red Devils were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw by Sevilla in midweek.

Kick-off is at 16:30 BST.

Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford are all absent for the visitors, as Erik ten Hag makes three changes to the side that started on Thursday.

Tyrell Malacia is also missing from the matchday squad, with Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot coming in. That means Anthony Martial continues up front, flanked by Antony and Jadon Sancho.

As for Nott’m Forest, they make four alterations to the team that lost 2-0 to Aston Villa in Gameweek 30. Scott McKenna, Renan Lodi, Remo Freuler and Taiwo Awoniyi come in for Joe Worrall, Harry Toffolo, Jonjo Shelvey and Cheikhou Kouyate.

*Marcel Sabitzer picked up an injury in the warm-up so Christian Eriksen has replaced him in the starting XI.

GAMEWEEK 31 LINE-UPS

Nottingham Forest XI: Navas, Felipe, Niakhate, McKenna, Williams, Freuler, Danilo, Lodi, Gibbs-White, Johnson, Awoniyi

Subs: Hennessey, Worrall, Mangala, Shelvey, Lingard, Toffolo, Surridge, Dennis, Ayew

Manchester United XI: de Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Dalot, Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Fernandes, Sancho, Martial

Remember when lots of people advocated a "big at the back" strategy? My three defenders managed to get two points between the lot of them this week.

Manchester United has the best defensive record in the whole of Europe

ten Hag has transformed that defence in a very short span of time

Their underlying data which is the best predictor of the future and indicator of their true defence strength is no where near top tier

They conceded over 0.8 xG today, would have conceded in 80% of matches if played again

          1. FantasyTony
            • 8 Years
            2 years, 8 months ago

I don't think that's necessarily true. Like if you use xG as like a definitive stat, then yeah you're right.

But a team who gives away tonnes of low xG shots could have the same xG as a team gave away one or two high X shots.

I guess to put it in simpler terms, would you rather give away 2 shots that have a 25% chance of going in or 1 shot with a 50% chance?

                Yes.

The probability of scoring from 2 X 0.25xG chances isn't the same as 1X 0.5xG.

                It's actually 0.4375.

        2. Hairy Potter
          • 10 Years

The team with the best attack is the one that scored the most goals over the season.

The team with the best defence is the one that concedes the fewest goals over the season.

Handily, goals for and goals against are recorded in league tables as a recognised metric. They are then used for goal difference, to help decide on league position, in the event of teams having the same number of points.

Pretty depressing to have Bruno Fernandes get the same points as Forest’s £4.5m Danilo in the last 4 matches (10 points)
    0 assists to 1
    17 chances created vs. 1

Good evening everyone!!! Only have 1 decision this week, not on FH, going to do Chilwell to TAA and Haaland to a forward of some description!! Haaland comes straight back in for Kane in 33… team is..

    Neto
    Trippier Mings Emerson
    Salah Saka Martinelli Olise
    Kane Watkins

No fixture- Kepa Haaland Mitoma Estupinan Chilwell

Emerson will be benched for TAA

Any advice on the best forward to go for folks????

    Advice appreciated!!!

    Cheers everyone!!

The safe choice would be Jesus but he does have City in 33
Toney can still play it seems
If you can guess which one Pool would also give you Gw34 doubler unless FH

Cheers mate!!! Jesus seems to be the front runner currently that’s for sure, Toney tempting too!! Darwin and Jota also, think I’d go for the Liverpool forward if I knew which one would start!! But I fear that will never be the case so maybe Jesus is sensible

Salah, TAA and Robertson for me. Not sure abut Arsenal defenders though. Atm I have:

      Johnstone
      Trippier TAA Robertson
      Salah Martinelli Odegaard Bowen Eze
      Watkins Jesus

Might switch Johnstone and Odegaard for Ramsdale and Maddison (or some other midfielder)

Moreno, I wanted him 2-3 gws ago, but picked Mings cause I thought Digne would get a match over him, how wrong was I.

Johnstone, just to hedge your bets I guess.

Reminds me of how Digne trolled me even without owning him
Got Moreno in for GW22 when he had 0.2% ownership
Gets me 2 points while I own him due to Digne starting over him, including in a game where Villa keep a CS and scores 5 points while on my bench (vs. Arsenal + City)
Sell Moreno in my GW26 WC due to rotation, he then becomes nailed and scores 42 points in 7 games! D'oh

        1. George Sillett
          • 10 Years
          2 years, 8 months ago

That's not trolling. Surely after him playing 3 games in a row it's pretty obvious that he's nailed.

When I owned Moreno, Digne started 3 of the 4 games despite Moreno looking better every time he got subbed on for him and Digne having meant to be out injured initially. Digne starting the BGW25 game vs. Everton made me think Moreno isn't worth the rotation headache and so I sold on my WC. Then Moreno became completely nailed lol

Everyone on a FH will have Salah so you'll probably need him

Lots of options open for next week with Salah to go 2mor, 63 points so far and at 70k , 1ft and 1.7mil in bank

    Gona be
    Rashford to Saka (C) *
    or
    Bench Rashford and
Mac > Odegaard , then get Mitoma for Odegaard in 33

    Iversen
    Trippier Kilman Mee White
    Salah Martinelli Benrahma *
    Kane Watkins
    Steele Haaland Dunk Rashford/Mac

Decent 11, should be grey arrow against the FH.

        Which is more optimal

        Rashford > saka (c)

Mac > Odegaard and who knows who to captain
