Thinking of ditching Gabriel and going for 3x Arsenal attackers...

Have Jesus and Saka, who for the 3rd?

    A) Ode

    B) Martinelli

Martinelli probably gets fewer minutes but I think has biggest upside

Why? Chelsea, Liverpool, United, City, Brighton as well as Arsenal could all explode. Better sharing those teams throughout.

I'm thinking of going for Havertz as my 3rd Arsenal player. He's going to play every game and Arteta has already hinted he could switch him to play up front every now and then.

Yes, I suppose Nkuku is more of a 10 but Højlund is still a bit young and raw he'd be overpriced at anymore than 7.5 and the way the pricing has been so far I' be surprised if he is

Locked out of Salah and Kane (if keeping Haaland), and that's pretty much it

Max of 2 FTs away from everybody else (including Trent in some instances), imo

The big decision for me is this vs Salah. Currently on a less flexible Salah team

Yes, Kane is going anyway so that's not a problem. Salah is more of a concern but you can't have everyone. I'm pretty settled on this structure now as I agree it is the most flexible overall. Salah will be a WC option for me if things go that way.

Play 3-5-2 with alternating 4.5 defenders.

      5.0 4.0
      5.0 5.0 4.5 4.5 4.0
      9.0 8.5 7.5 6.5 6.5
      14.0 8.0 4.5

Leaves 3.5m in the bank so can afford any player in the game with one transfer. Eg Rashford to Salah, 4.5 def to TAA, 4.5 fwd to 8.0 fwd, etc

This may be controversial but setting up a bench boost gw1 team gives loads of opportunity for flexibility in the following gameweeks. Particularly if you leave about 1m in the bank.

James and chilwell potential for 150 each IF they stay fit, Espu got 120 odd last season and he will be rotated way more, this is why I'm thinking of 4.5 defenders, someone change my mind

4.5s aren’t normally attacking full backs, who often harvest a lot of points. Henry and Hickey at Brentford maybe.

Chilwell - plays for a decent team with no European football and has assist potential
Stones - plays for an excellent team and is pushing forward
Shaw - plays for a good team and has assist potential
Gabriel / Saliba - plays for a very good team and has goal threat
Porro - plays for a decent team with no European football and has assist potential

      1. fantasyfog

Palace under Hodgson tight as a ducks butt, Villa under Emery great defence, Everton with a pre season under Dyche, all 4.5 defenders

have you seen the players you mentioned points over the last few years? Shaw 120 last season, Chilwell James 150 most ever (I think)
Stones 120 odd, Rodri in that spot 100 or under? Had Gabriel last season and wasn't exactly setting the league alight...

I think the value is all midfield (and Haaland) until options become available

        1. diesel001
          • 8 Years

Villa. I think European football will derail them. I had high hopes for them before they took that European spot.
Everton I don't know. I think the game (in the PL) has moved on from Dyche (and Allardyce) defensive set ups.
Palace are enigmatic. Talented but they aren't consistent. Think the Hodgson new manager bounce is gone.

All opinions of course so not saying I am correct. Just my thinking.

I think that too much tinkering at this stage can be counter-productive. I find myself starting to look for "hidden gems" and alternative strategies because I'm getting bored of looking at the same team and when I do research into them I become more attached to them than I probably should be because of the effort involved.

Today I found myself tinkering with a Naaland team that I actually kind of like. It would be all dependent on Kane staying ofc but the captaincy options of Saka(NFO), Salah(BOU), Kane(bou), Salah(AVL), Kane(SHU) doesn't seem too bad. It would be a big risk but it's not like I have a great FPL history to protect! Could be worth trying for a year and choosing a different captain every week would make things more interesting! Maybe the start of the season with City's fixtures is not the time to do it but I can see myself trying it at some stage this year.

Man U now may have a world class striker. Opponents beware, 9 goals in 32 games in a great team in a great league. Joking aside, is this the person Man U need and who is going to be interested? TBH, if I want Man U coverage and he comes in cheaper than Rash/Bruno, I will consider. If he is a guaranteed starter.

We're desperate for striker, I'm hoping and think he'll work well there.

With limited options in that position, providing he transitions well, can't see a reason why he doesn't get decent minutes. His only competition is made of glass.

I think someone of his profile makes Bruno and Rashford much better picks given his ability to link up with those around him, as well as having a recognised striker in the box. I won't start with him but it makes me more comfortable having Bruno now and I'd imagine I'll get him at some point

He should be an improvement on Weghorst. Also allows Rashford to play on the left. Whether he will get many goals or will be a FPL option is another thing. Man Utd weren't the most attacking and free scoring last season and that might still be the case this season.

Absolutely, my point being that Man Utd came 3rd without a striker (with Weghorst is basically it was pretty much playing with 10 men). If Hojlund can get 10-15 goals that is significant.

To everyone saying 9 in 32. Hojlund has 9 in 20 starts or around 1800 minutes. And he was 19 years old. United is a much better attacking team. Look at the goals he's scored for Denmark. You'll see why Ten Hag wanted him.

I'm psyched for the signing but don't think we can expect more than 10 PL goals in his first season

Looking at the teams I consider top 6, rightly or wrongly, (Spurs, Chelsea, Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Pool), Man U have the worst attacking players. Agree or disagree?

Has to be Spurs surely? No Kane. Maddison not settled. Son has to redeem himself.

Spurs would be my only discussion from the list, agreed. I genuinely think they have better attacking players though and think they will be a better attacking team. From an FPL view, I think I would prefer Rich than Rash or Bruno now (If Kane leaves and looks nailed). If this new guy comes in at 7, would consider swapping Pedro for him though.

Chelsea IMO. Unproven in the PL or have regressed (e.g., Sterling).
Man Utd players have shown ability to score / assist (Rashford, Fernandes, Mount, Antony) but they are missing a striker.
Spurs, other than Kane, underperformed last season, but Richarlison, Son, Maddison and Kulusevski have quality.

Disagree. RW is definitely an issue there but Rashford (when allowed to play on the left and beside an actual forward) can be fantastic and Bruno is one of the best chance creators around. Mount will fit in very well and I'd be surprised if he doesn't chip in with around 20 returns. Chelsea are looking good in preseason but still have a lot of changes to deal with and there's a lot of youth there, and the more experienced (Sterling) aren't exactly reliable. Spurs minus Kane aren't exactly stellar, I know Son said he was carrying injuries but I've read he hasn't looked good in preseason, Maddison has to pick things up too. Apart from that it's Richarlison, Solomon, etc. I know who'd I'd prefer.

Man U scored 12 goals less than Spurs last season. Yes Kane will move on but I still think Spurs have better attacking players and will be a better attacking team this season. Man U scored more than Chelsea last season, fair enough, but I think Chelsea have improved and have the better attacking players this season. They had a terrible manager and were distracted, Time will tell but I am happy to now avoid Man U attackers unless the new guy comes in nicely priced.

Going on last season isn't what you're asking though is it? You're asking who has the worst attackers now (and I'm not even including Højlund). Chelsea have an entirely different team that hasn't played a competitive game together with very little experience, Spurs should score more this season but that's more down to the system and style of Postecoglu rather than personnel

Ok, so we agree Spurs should be a better attacking team (whether that is personnel or system but I think individually, their attacking players are better). You think Chelsea may or may not based on new team gelling. Fine. As of now, I think Chelsea have the better attacking players so they should score more goals than Man U. Time will tell.

For what it's worth, I expect Onana will make a huge difference to what ManUtd can do at the top of the pitch given he can sweep and distribute the ball, whereas they haven't had that for years. Mount should hugely improve their defensive work at the top of the pitch too with his good pressing. But still if we're solely talking about attackers here I can't really judge those two teams

Nick/Triggerlps raises some interesting regarding Fantasy Football Scout partnering with 'plucky.com', Right in the centre of the FFS page.

    https://www.plucky.com/fpl

Which is company that holds minileague cash - and takes a percentage. But a person 'FPL trader' pointed out to FPL (after being blocked by FFS for querying that this could be contrary to the FPL rules) - That it seems contrary to the FPL rule which prohibits cash mini leagues for commercial purposes.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRBj9GlJJBU

I assume FFS are 'unavailable for comment' ?

Meglomamaniac or not the fella does raise some very interesting points. Also the fact that fpl trader was blocked by FFS raises even more questions.

For arguments sake if this years no1 in world joined plucky.com. It would be obvious to all and sundry that they participated in a mini league for commercial purposes. Then under the FPL rules that account could be banned.
That is not the sort of PR that FFS/Plucky.com/FPL want.

If this person is confirming Plucky confirmed it was all above board and "legal", then that should be a red flag and is incompetence on this sites part. Remember when they partnered with that site that stole peoples money and filed for bankruptcy. Stinks of this tbh.

My first thought when I read about the app was: "Isn't that against T&Cs?"

However I've gone to read the current T&Cs and seems to only specify & disallow league entry charging in relation to COMMERCIAL purposes. (This may not 'personal' leagues etc?)

Might it depend what the definition is in this context? And might this be the conversation FPL/Plucky may debate over?

I feel like this is different to wording last season, but may be entirely wrong on that.

Either way the T&Cs absolve the Premier League of responsibility in regards to losses - so should be no expectation they'd help anyone regain any losses/non-payouts either way.

      -------

      13. Players can establish mini-leagues in accordance with the Game Rules. The Premier League does not permit any Player, individual or organisation (save for the Premier League and Clubs, Official Sponsors and Broadcast Licensees with the express consent of the Premier League) to create, or participate in, mini-leagues for any COMMERCIAL purposes, including but not limited to:

      a) charging for entry into a mini-league; and

      b) making entry into a mini-league conditional on the purchase of services (including subscriptions) or goods.

Should, in the opinion of the Premier League, a mini-league be created for COMMERCIAL purposes the Premier League reserves the right to delete the mini-league and suspend or delete the registration of any Player who is the administrator of, or a participant in, the mini-league without liability. The Premier League cannot be held responsible for the management of any such mini-leagues or any loss suffered through Players’ involvement in them including but not limited to where they are deleted by the Premier League.

        a) covers off personal mini leagues

From FPL perspective, it’s against their policy.
What is strange though is I’ve been in money leagues for many years, even the league name states the entry amount and it’s never been taken down or teams deleted.

Was meant to add I’m sure there’s many more leagues that do the same thing.

I guess it’s a rule they have they don’t want to necessarily force, since they know it would reduce the amount of players considerably if they did.

The arguement is that this section seems pretty clearly defined for 'commercial' purposes now (both in paragraph before and after) - which could mean that the service Plucky offers is not against the T&Cs.

However it may not have had this distinction previously. I don't have a copy of last year's so can't compare, but gut feel it may have been a bit different at some stage. Sadly can't prove that.

          Plucky even states that:

"Plucky’s fantasy football platform allows small groups of friends to play their normal fantasy football game for money."

          https://www.plucky.com/fantasy-mini-leagues-rules

A small group of friends wouldn't not be considered a commercial purpose (in most usages?) hence why this may be permitted.

Just seeing what the facts are here because a lot of people post without thinking or checking.

Commercial is just a generic term used for the activity of generating sales, selling good or services for economic interest.

They’re definitely including cash mini leagues in this instance.
Note it also states, includes but not limited to.

You are absolutely making an assumption there that may be incorrect.

The "includes but not limited to" is still in reference to the 'commercial' activity, although it it left a bit open-ended.

Thing is with this terminology is that it can be interpreted differently and a lawyer for example, could argue against it. I don't think you can say with 100% certainty that your "commercial" definition is what is intended here.

I get what you’re saying Hazz but the underlying thing here is the game is free to play, and has been forever as far as I’m aware.

They don’t want people profiteering from a free to play game.
I’ll eat my hat if I’m wrong but from watching Trigger Lips’ video from yesterday, it became apparent FPL Trader contacted FPL themselves about his query and they’ve responded to him quite quickly (rare).
So there must be something that has concerned them about given their own rules.

Ultimately, they have imposed a rule which causes a self interest threat for them, so they’re in a sticky situation.

Would be interesting to know as you say if the wording on their T&Cs has changed this season.

Really not that straightforward. Also, 64m with the potential of rising to 72m. Kane would have been amazing but it was never going to happen, Levy wouldn’t allow it and your about 20-30m short on your valuation for Kane if United were somehow going to change Levy’s mind. United had no chance of it being under 100m minimum for Kane, so Mount or Onana might not have been possible if they wanted to go that route.
