Decided to go Jesus over Martinelli and change formation from 3-5-2 to 3-4-3.

    Who's the best 4.5m midfielder?

    Will be on bench everyweeks.

Yes I’ve done that too. Reading through the reports it’s could be Ahamada from Palace.
Maybe Anderson from Newcastle if he gets any minutes

Increase the player’s confidence and drive to succeed as he know that he could be a future captain? Pretty logical.

Are you expecting his attacking output to be even better now? Maybe he’ll be able to actually defend now?

Both in my opinion. His defensive game hasn’t always been the best, there’s no arguing that but with liverpool signing decent midfielders and potentially a CB i see more clean sheets this season.

With VVD being slightly injury probe, i reckon he’ll wear the armband for quite a few games. Will definitely add to his game knowing he’s a leader and can’t let slip or make defensive errors.

I get the argument here but I mean him being vice captain or stepping in to captain in some games won't suddenly make him a good defender or increase his output

If you captain a team, you’re there to lead. By leading you need to make sure you lead by example (i.e. not switch off in defence). No he won’t turn into a Balon Do’r winner overnight but it does improve a player.

Look at Odegaard’s improvement since being given the armband, yes he had potential already so that’s not the only reason, but it certainly plays a part.

Ok, but who's to say that it won't simply limit him given he's a defender by nature and he simply prefers to play safe and ensure he doesn't give the ball away (given he's been castigated for mistakes in the past)? I don't see this being a reason to expect more from him over a whole season, if he's to do better it'll likely be to do with the system and him being further up the pitch (if he is)

He played RB in the last pre season friendly and we kept a CS, played a CM inverted role in the previous two games (against lesser opponents and we conceded 4 in both).

Klopp came out and said after the game that he very much sees him as a RB come the start of the season (whether it’s a bluff i don’t know).

Trents points have always mainly come from set pieces and bonus points.

Captaincy is an indicator that you'll play more games, but doesn't automatically equate to FPL points. Odegaard was better because he played further forward and had better players around him.

He's got the responsibility because he's a good player and in my experience the extra responsibiliy is something that can make a difference.

Beginning to think Rashford is overpriced...

    - Anonymous pre-season so far
    - Improvements with Sancho, Antony, Mount, Bruno & Hojlund might lessen his goals and isn't a particular efficient passer
    - Not on pens

    Thoughts?

    1. mattyb09

The only thing I'll say is that he looked very wide from the brief highlights I saw v Dortmund. But he only played for 30 mins. Højlund should help (he'll link up well and will make space for him), and I don't think ManUtd have spent much time with their first XI out together so far this preseason. Bruno's only goal came from a Ramsdale mistake from what I read so you could say ignoring that he was anonymous and is a bad pick too

Not so much overpriced once he hits his stride. But certainly preseason hasn't been great. Not sure I would count Antony & Sancho as improvements (the latter was rubbish as false 9 in the Leeds game); if anything its these 2 + Hojlund's settling period that somewhat put me off their attack

Longer games, better for players like Foden because the games he's benched, he'll still have more expected minutes than last year.

In terms of expected penalties, with VAR still being around I expect it to be the same but free-kicks will be reduced. Lessens the appeal of free-kick takers like Trippier.

More important to see if this affects any of the players in your draft: https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/fantasy-premier-league-set-piece-takers/

Trying to have main template pics in, with couple of less popular options who have performed during summer.

Eze, Mitoma & Mbeumo rotate well.
Darwin will go for Nkunku/Jackson on GW3 (or from the beginning if he doesn't start and perform against Bayern)
Rashford missing is obvious big minus.

    What do you think?

Good idea! 6.5M mids are great value.

      Maybe consider Diaby?

Man united is is obsessed with City. First they brought fake Pep and now they have bought fake Haaland - and Fake Haaland costs more than Real one!!

    Current team is

    Pickford
    TAA, Gabriel, Estupinan
    Rashford, Saka, Son, Bowen, Enciso
    Haaland, Nkunku

    Bench: Udogie, Baldock, Semenyo

Do I need a Liverpool attacker? And is Bruno a better shout than Rash for 0.5 less?

Can anybody find any faults with this team?! I think I am actually ready to go:

    Pickford/areola
    Gabriel/stones/estupinan/pinnock/beyer
    Foden/rashford/Saka/mbuemo/mitoma
    Haaland/jesus/Darwin

    Feedback welcomed!! Thanks all

Looks good. I’d just pick any low owned 4.0m defender over Beyer due to ownership. You might get stung when all the casuals sell him and he drops to 3.9m

    Best budget mid :

    Mitoma vs Mbuemo vs Eze

Mitoma has the fixtures, but seems like he might be wide a lot. Brighton points sharing
Mbeumo on pens, but had a relatively short purple patch last season. Likes the post too much
Eze looks like he has the most goal threat and upside. Also on pens. Fixtures decent. Can easily brace in a game

Got Mbeumo and Eze. Don't want to book a transfer in for Mitoma. We're going to be chopping/changing our teams so much I want a team for the long-term with good expected minutes.

      2. Mbeumo

But I like Diaby better than those 3.

I think Bernardo is being flying under the radar...Gundogan & Mahrez were his 2 direct replacements, KDB not fit & Bernardo deemed "not for sale" while being Pep's bff

You could be onto something but i question Bernardo’s motivation this season. He wanted out because he’s under-appreciated and on almost half the wages as Foden and Grealish (the same reason Gundogan wanted out).

He’s now being held against his will.

Doing a little tinkering today so would love to hear some opinions on this current draft and if you say No to a player, please suggest replacement.

    Haaland/Nkunku/Jesus

I think this is a good team. My only concern is each week you will have a dilemma on who to pick. Your bench will be expensive.

Pretty sure most weeks, there will be one each obvious Defender/Midfielder/Forward that should be benched. Saka/Foden/Bruno will play most weeks while one of Diaby/Mbuemo will have a bad matchup and same on Defense where one of Chilly/Estupinan will have a bad matchup but I'd rather have solid replacements than play a guy in a bad matchup or have to put i na 4.0/4.5 replacement and settle for appearance points

He's pretty nailed, but the problem with Stones is injuries. And that's why he gets rested, and then Pep trues 3 games in quick succession and then bang, hamstring gone.
