This evening we roll out the final part of our series of Projections articles for the season ahead. Having already assessed the Keepers, Defenders and the Midfielders, it’s finally time to start searching for value up front.

With the aid of our freshly Projections, we’ve analysed the average points expected per player over the course of the upcoming campaign and, applying this to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player price list, have listed the top ten in terms of expected value per Fantasy pound for the season ahead…

        Even though I'm punting Kagawa i would have to agree. It would help to have a contingency plan incase Kagawa/Siggy gets off to a flyer though.

      Lescott could become a bit iffy now if City sign Agger. Be only Hart/Kompany that are 'safe' picks. Tough to find that extra .5 or 1.0 though.

        Yeah if City sign a quality centre back i'd happily boot Lescott out for Coloccini or someone like that. And then use the money to upgrade Gylfi and Jaaskelainen.
        Dembele is a quality player with or without Dempsey imo. He could easily have a season to match his talent and £6m isn't all that much to risk.

        The 18th can't come soon enough 😉

            Hmm that's not how I remember last season. Was Dembele and Dempsey getting forward and supporting Pogrebnyak. With Murphy as the deep lying distributor and occasionally Diarra scrapping in the midfield.

            Dembele's gotten progressively better in each season and if he hadn't been classified as a forward he would've been on 100 points. If he can improve again then £6m seems a steal. Especially when you know Fulham attackers will generally get their points at home so you can bench them easily enough for tricky away matches. Whereas someone like say Brunt for instance who's the same price, you've no idea when his points will come so you'll often have him benched at the wrong times.

        siggy has played behind VDV on a couple occasions in pre-season i believe, in which case his FPL prospects will plummet

        I'm a fan of Lampard alright but I'd far prefer Hazard for the double just in terms of being more assured of pitch time. I wouldn't fancy captaining Torres tbh.

      Siggy was taking set pieces in a recent pre season game I saw (Bale scored a header from his corner) but I imagine VDV will take if he's playing. Have Sigurdsson myself, just because I can't afford the .5

    so i had tevez instead of aguero to save the 2.5 mill so i could afford cazorla, but i think i'd rather be safe and get aguero. also, pardew has been talking up a more central role for ba, so if true, i think 7.5 is a good price for him. so considering all that, this is what my team looks like:

    de gea, federici
    a cole (hangeland), lescott, cuellar, mccartney, clyne
    lampard (kagawa), bale, michu, noble, maloney
    torres (rooney), aguero, ba

    the players in brackets are transfers for gw2-3

      A massive dilemma that Aguero vs Tevez conundrum. Feels so much better having Aguero but Tevez + 2.5 mil is extremely tempting...

        yeah, it is tempting :/ but I'd rather start the season off with the sure options and possibly get a lead on my opponents and then take those risks. Things will be much clearer down the road too...

        Aguero tore up Swansea in the home opener last season. I'm sure he'll do much of the same against Southampton. Also, less hitting the bar, less saves (I'm sure their keeper is no Vorm) and Aguero will play longer 😀

        Aye, it's a tough one. Both Ba and Cisse were brilliant in the central role, but they can't both play there, assuming Pardew continued with the same formation as last season.

        Chances are Cisse will continue in the role, thus his higher price.

      What's the 1.5mil in the bank for?

      Noble/Maloney to a better 6.5 player? Or use it to get another heavy hitter in defense. Maybe instead of Williams and Hangman get a Vidic/Baines/Verm + a 4.5 defender?

      That's getting picky though. Looks a good team. Hangman could be great value at 5.0 and Williams has nice fixtures.

          Not Britton, his price is going to tumble. his 15% odd ownsership is an absolute fail. he will not get many points. Guthrie on the other hand has low ownership and a better chance of getting points imo.

          No, not really.

          If you have Bale, I'd steer clear of Siggy/VDV. Spread the risk. Nasri IS the risk and Kagawa to me seems primed for decent points in United's attack. Im getting Valencia and then waiting for Kags to fit in.

          And for Walcott, you reasoned it out right there 🙂

            Not without a big man upfront, i think they will get reduced assists until the new striker (whoever that may be) is settled.

            I think Tot will win their games by smaller margains, 1-0, 2-1, therefore leaving less points to be shared in mid.

            Unless AVB is forced to push Siggy/VDV up front as the main striker i wouldn't get bale with one of them.

      I would say kagawa, but still not sure about his playing time. I think playing in the hole is his forte, but mostly SAF will stick at 4-4-2 with rooney and welbeck upfront

          i have lampard for the time being, especially RDM has said that he will give hazard time to adapt to epl. with mata is also back from olympic, i prefer to have a confirm starter. perhaps the community shield match against man city will give us more idea on chelsea's lineup. larsson is not a bad shout, their fixtures are quite favorable. i'm taking punt on nzogbia though

      Ditch Verm and Kolarov. Spread the money more evenly. Get Lescott/Cole

      Looks good otherwise.

      Midfield and Attack are generic. But generic is good.

          Kolarov might be a risk too far! I like the Verm pick if you can afford it, could easily grab another half dozen goals... Lescott could be on the way out if City sign Agger or another centre back.

          Defenders Rarely score or assist, even attacking ones so to get expensive defenders they have to be nailed on, have good fixtures and provide an attacking threat. Verm doesn't do that. Kolarov does if he plays be he is t nailed on.

            I'd jump on Kolarov if so, thunderous left foot. Verm is nailed on, provides an excellent attacking threat and will find some good fixtures out of the 38 weeks!

      arsenal fixtures hardly that favorable, in the 1st 6 fixtures, they will play liverpool, stoke and man city away, plus chelsea at home in gw 6. i think clyne and gunter is too lightweight, for cheap defenders perhaps you want to look at players from aston villa, swansea or west ham

      lescott. other than 2 games at home against southampton and QPR, i think it will be difficult for man city to keep clean sheet against stoke, liverpool, fulham (away) and arsenal (home)

          cuellar is fine, sunderland has nice fixtures though. don't worry about cheap defenders, compared to my line up, i have lescott, williams, cuellar, clark and mccartney.

              reading has double gw1, so its not a bad idea to start pog upfront. most of the time, bale, mata and sinclair will start for your team. normally everton is a slow starter, plus their fixtures are not that good (MUN, avl, wba, NEW, swa), so I would stay away from them for the time being. but with pienaar, naismith and jelavic in the team, who knows maybe they can win those games. what about sunderland players, mcclean and larsson can be a decent punt

          There not much @ 6.0 unfortunately. Better if u can squeeze to 6.5 or maybe downgrade to a 5.0.

          Very simular team to mine so been through this process.

          I'm actually think of ditching Mata & Petric for Torres (purely for the guaranteed 180min) & Ramires.

    I only find Chelsea, Spurs and City to have decent fixtures of the top teams in the beginning of the season. Now only one of these have strikers that I'd like to have in my team(Defoe at 7.0 is nice though). Is doubling up on City attack with Aguero and Tevez a bit too much? Is only one heavy hitter up top enough? Is gw 2-4 for Rooney so good that it's worth the limitations it adds to the budget, as well as the sub it forces you to make(Unless you are really confident he will deliver even against though teams)?

        - Liverpool are likely to reject City's 3rd bid for Agger.

        - Joe Allen is Liverpool bound. Just left for talks between the player and the club now.
        - Gaston Ramirez looking more likely as each day passes. Liverpool are going to bid 14m for him, apparently.
        - Dempsey won't join unless Pool offer 10m.

            From recent interviews of BR, he seems to be looking for some value in the "loans" market.

            As much as I would like Ramirez to come, it really doesn't look likely right now.
            Also don't think Carroll will be sold, definitely no Loan deals to WHU.

            Apart from the Allen move that seems definite, there are no other concrete rumours

            It will probably be both. Think Gaston Ramirez should be our main target, but it's Allen. Without Allen, we could be strong with Demps and Ramirez.

        Swansea's first 8 fixtures look OK and happy to keep Torres for now if he starts every game

          so i guess for swansea home matches, you are going to triple your defense with vorm, taylor and williams. if you transfer in siggy, then you will double up on spurs as well. most people would suggest you to spread the risk, but if this strategy works for you in the past, then go for it

              The main issue with trippling up, is that in some weeks you will end up having three useless swan players in defence, whilst in other weeks you will have way too many defenders with good fixtures. I dont think it's an issue to use three players from the same team in def when the fixtures look good, as the reward is equally higher as the risk grows. It's just that the rotation wont work as well from gw to gw. Imo Hangeland is a decent shout.
