    Good WC?

    Alisson
    Trippier, Robertson, Cash, Udogie
    Bowen, Salah, Son (C)
    Alvarez, Watkins, Jesus

    Areola, Ward-prowse, Gordon, Lamptey

Well, it looks strong; but then you see there is no Haaland. I seriously considered (in part, still am) a squad without Haaland and spent quite some time tinkering.

My conclusion is why go without him? You can get a perfectly good squad out with him, Salah, Son, Bowen, Saka - the sacrifices you have to make are a very cheap (but playing) bench, and no Trippier. I found when you go without him, the only significant differences outfield are having Trippier and Trent. If it was the Trent of old, you could argue the case but we don't know that yet.

I admire those going without him because it makes the game in a sense more interesting with captain choices, and it is nice to have a wad of cash to spend. But with pricing as it is this season, I question whether it's worth it.

yes it looks strong - I like the Jesus punt, could see him coming in to form following last nights goal. I would consider swapping Ward-Prowse to a Brighton midfielder being that their fixtures will pick up in GW 10 and West Hams games between now and then aren't amazing
Only other thing to note is that I'm not sure about Alisson and Robertson double up but if you fancy Liverpool for clean sheets they do have a good run of games coming up. I would be tempted to downgrade Alisson and swap out Robertson for Trent... not sure if you'll have the funds to do both changes though
Other than that not convinced by Lamptey... there are a few 4.0 defenders that get regular minutes

A Gvardiol & Foden to Cash & Son
B Gvardiol & Sterling to Tarkowski & Son

      A for me

Think it would depend on what other defensive coverage I have this week but you'd think Cash is better in the long run... I also prefer Sterling's fixture this week to Foden's

In the final third perhaps, defensively still solid.

But might take some of Andersen's forward gloss off, yes.

It would be part of saka to son - otherwise I could just go rash to son (no hit)

Could be, as long as you have a route back to Estupinan from GW10. Then you have a chance as well to see whether De Zerbi is benching Estu after the IB and the situation with him bringing on Lamptey.

I am interested in Lamptey, De Zerbi would have seen he is also not that bad defensively.

So yes, Brighton vs LFC and City attack might just be worth the -4.

    Morning all,

    Would really appreciate some feedback on my team / proposed moves;

    Leno
    Estu Cash Udogie
    Mbuemo Saka Maddison Son(c) Rashford
    Haaland Alverez

    Areola Botman** Archer Bell

    2 FTs and 1.8 ITB.

Planning on doing Saka, Rashford and Mbeumo > Salah Diaby & Neto for a -4

Would much rather just do the two midfield moves but 0.2 short unfortunately.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated!

We have similar teams and similar situation, one thing I was considering with mt 2FTs was upgrading 3rd striker to Watkins and downgrading one mid to Chukwuemeka (4.3m)

Do you like Neto enough as a pick to play him every week? I can get to him and Salah with a -4 as well.

Would mean no Villa cover though

Do I need to wildcard or can I fix with a -4?

Was planning to savw the wildcard but the price changes are destroying my TV and Saka might be out.

    2FT 2.2m itb

    Flekken
    Schar-Udogie-Estupinan

      Wait on Saka
Bruno and Mbeumo probably your biggest concerns

Can see argument for WC though
      GK
      Defence shuffle
Salah (if that way inclined and main reason for WC)

        I could just afford Bruno + Mbeumo + J.Pedro -> Salah + Neto + Mubamba for a -4

GK situation is frustrating but both have good fixtures GW9 (Luton and Burnley at home).

    Areola
    Gabriel - Burn - Digne
    Son - Bruno F. - Bowen - Salah (c)
    Darwin - Alvarez - Haaland

6 green arrows in a row but only small rank improvements. Tempted by Bruno to Maddison but I think I will roll and have 2 FT after the break. Not set on captaincy yet. Son looks good fixture wise, but minutes may be limited. Could still inflict great damage on Luton even with 60 mins. Will ponder further...

WC activated after worst ever start to the season and a mess of a team.

Which of these can be sacrificed on WC given form and fixtures

    a) Salah
    b) Watkins
    c) Trippier
    d) Son

    and controversial one...
    e) Haaland - get Alvarez and cap Salah/Son over next 5/6 weeks while Citys fixtures aren't as good

For reference am 4.5m OR so considering the huge risk on this one

Can get them all in but leaves a weak bench and probably playing 442

FWIW - I'm going without Haaland for exactly that reason.

      Areola - Turner
      Trippier - Cash - Porro - Andersen - White
      Salah - Bowen - Son - Saka - Maddison
      Alvarez - Watkins - Archer

If Saka is confirmed out, might go Diaby and keep the cash.

        Yes it comes down to something like;

        4.5m def/Haaland or Darwin/Trippier, or Archer/Haaland vs Darwin/Alvarez and play a 4th defender

not sure the benefit is worth it

With Botman out, Wilson out and Gordon suspended, three key players may change things slightly for Newcastle on the pitch.

I can't afford Trippier but the problem is that he is the player hurting my rank the most so you need to have a player which can cancel him out if you go without.

Trippier makes you have less options in defence.

I wont to go Alvarez, Haaland with either Watkins or Nunez, four solid mid picks with an enabler mid 1st bench plus a rotating defence then I can't see Trippier killing me anymore.

      Yep.

Of all the WC drafts I've seen over the last 2 weeks, the ones without him nearly always look better. I WCarded last week with decent team value and the only drafts I was happy with containing tripper were 4-4-2s with a dodgy bench. This season you don't want to sacrifice any of those attacking slots, not even for him.

People will say yes till he hits his next 9-pointer, and another 12-poibter etc...

Can definitely see scenarios where he can be a candidate for a fall guy but he is such good value for points potential too - so I don't think it's necessarily always a fab idea to drop of NEW keep keeping clean sheets.

His ownership is also very high!

But you have to drop someone, unfortunately can't have them all, so you'd rather have, e.g. Tripper Trossard or Burn Watkins, Trippier Neto or Burn Alvarez?

I think that's super unfair pairing Trippier & Trossard vs. Burn & Watkins in your example.

Change that to Trippier & Diaby vs. Burn & Watkins & that's far more of a fair discussion.

          Last 4:
          39 - Watkins
          24 - Burn
          39 - Trippier
          18 - Diaby

6 points in it. Trippier & Diaby do cost more but Watkins & Burn have had some -serious- outliers in that sample. Trippier gets returns more consistently than Burn & Diaby has been very unfortunate to not get a few more returns too.

Just realised my -8 last week paid off.
    - Schar (7) > Trippier (12)
    - Estupiñán (-2) > Kabore (3)
    - Mbeumo (2) > JWP (4)

    7 vs. 19 (-8). Four point gain 🙂

    (Thank you Estupiñán!)
